The tension breaks.
There hung a life-like doll, no bigger than a small child.
It’s hair was thinned and ripped out in places, it’s head was crooked slightly to the side, as if it had been taken off, and forced back on. It’s thin frail dress, of a sliver color, had red spots covering it at the bottom fringe, slowly climbing, leading to it’s dangling hands, which had the same stuff.
They all shuddered at the thought of what that could be.
The eyes in the head were crossed, and one was falling out slightly. It had a small delicate smile, the lips a bright red, like the stuff on the dress, and it’s skin was a porcelain white pale color.
“Oh my god,” Susan choked out, backing up.
“We need to get out of here! This shows whoever did it was up here!” Amy said tearing her eyes from the doll, hanging from the ceiling by a rope around its neck.
“But they’re not here now! What if it’s safer up here?” Eric said, his tone a quite panic.
“Yeah, let’s just sit here and wait for whoever did this to come up and find us! Great idea!” Susan snapped.
“Will you shut up!?” Logan snarled. “No one asked you, and you’re clearly not suggesting anything yourself or attempting to help,” he glared at her through the dim darkness.
“And you are!?” Amy replied in defense.
“Well, I’m not being counterproductive by making sassy remarks!” Logan shot back.
“Please don’t fight...” Florica whispered from where she was standing in front of the doll, hugging her bear tight.
Eric rubbed his face and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Florica stay out of this,” he sighed, rubbing his forehead.
“Excuse you! She has the right to be in this as much as we do! What gives you any right!?” Susan burst out.
“She’s my sister, you moron!” Eric replied, waving his hands in the air.
“Eric! She’s not a moron!” Amy answered back.
“You know what they say. Takes one to know one,” Susan hissed back.
“Two wrongs don’t make a right Susan. You’re not one, and he’s not either!” Amy shot at her.
“I see how it is. He’s your brother, and your so stuck up you can’t get past that fact to see he’s a no-good guy who will pull cheap tricks like this!” Susan said in a rush and frenzy.
“How dare you!?” Amy replied hard and accusing.
“Call my sister stuck up again! I dare you!” Eric yelled, taking a step closer.
“What are you gonna do? Fight me? It’s true! Both of you are nothing but a pair of bad boys who think your all that! Well guess what? YOU’RE NOT!” She shouted in Logan and Eric’s face.
“I refuse to take that from you!” Logan shouted back. “If anyone is too stuck-up to realize the truth it’s you! I’m sure this is just a clever little prank you came up with, thinking it’s harmless because you live your little bubble, where the world revolves around you! Your all bark and no bite!”
“Wanna try me on that!?” Susan stepped closer, throwing her arms out.
“I’d be glad to.” Logan replied threateningly, stepping closer.
“Best not, you might end up hurting her and we’ll have to go to the ER, then we’d find out no ones here and her little scheme will be ruined,” Eric said, placing a hand on Logan’s shoulder.
“Eric, what is wrong with you? She can fight just as well as you can! And she didn’t do this!” Amy shouted, standing next to Susan.
“No? Then you did.” Logan replied, sneering at her.
“I. Did. Not.” Amy growled at him.
“I. Don’t. Believe. You.” He spit back.
“You wanna go, Logan?” Amy stepped closer, daring him to answer.
“Been wanting to for a while,” Logan said as his eyes flashed with anger, and he stepped in front of her.
“Logan if you touch my sister, so help me god,” Eric said in a low tone.
“She doesn’t need you to fight her battles! Besides, you don’t even do it well. What fine job you did firmly saying she didn’t do this,” Susan hissed at him.
“Yeah, but you need someone to fight yours! And that’s because I was too busy accusing the real culprit, you!” Eric turned to her.
“She didn’t do it,” Amy said.
“Yeah, cause you did!” Logan replied.
“I swear you little-!” Amy growled as she shoved him.
“Amy!” Eric shouted.
“Oh, he deserves it!” Susan yelled, rolling her eyes.
“Oh, yeah? You know what I think an attention craving, toxic, irresponsible friend that pulls horrific pranks deserves!?” Eric yelled, turning back to her with rage.
“How dare you!? It doesn’t matter what you think because you only have one brain cell!” Susan shouted at him.
“I’m still smarter than you!”
“That’s it you little-” Susan yelled, shoving him back.
Amy and Logan were lost in their own fight, pushing, shoving, yelling. Amy turned after noticing Susan moving backwards beside her. She grunted as she fell on the floor, quickly getting back up.
“ERIC!” Amy screamed.
Susan yelled as she pushed Eric back, making him stumble over a small box, hitting his head. He groaned in pain as he sat up.
“SUSAN! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?” Amy yelled at her, pushing one of her arms, making her lose balance.
“A lot of things,” Logan remarked bitterly pulling Eric to his feet.
“You just shut up!” Amy yelled, pushing him again.
Eric had gone straight to Susan, pushing her back as she knocked over some boxes.
“I swear I’m gonna kill you!” Amy shouted, grabbing Logan by the collar.
“Not if I kill you first!” He shouted back, gripping her wrist and throwing her back.
“LOGAN! Don’t touch my sister you punk!” Eric yelled, getting in Logan’s face.
“Punk? She’s the one who shoved me first you lap dog!” Logan said, slapping away the hand pointed in his face.
“A lap dog? You’ve got some nerve!” Eric growled.
“He’s not wrong! You’re a brainless idiot who does what he’s told!” Susan snarled beside him.
“Susan, if you don’t shut your mouth, I might have to do it for you!” Amy warned stepping towards her.
“Are you kidding me!?” Susan scoffed in disbelief.
From that point, they each kept shouting, yelling and shoving each other, fingers being pointed in faces, and eyes flashing with anger, as words of blame were thrown around.
“You’re just a worthless prankster, trying to scare us!”
“My brother is not worthless you brat!”
“Who are you calling brat?”
“You, cause you are one, and a diva and a drama queen to boot!”
“Who asked you!?”
“Shut up, Susan, he’s only saying the truth, you need to face it!”
“Eric, say one more thing and I’ll punch you!”
“You punch my brother and I’ll punch you!”
“Amy, why are you on their side, have you gone insane!?”
“She’s been insane, a complete psychopath, she’s the only one who could have done this!”
“Logan, call my sister a psychopath again, go on, do it! Do it!”
They started to break out fighting, rolling around on the floor, and pulling clothes and hair.
Then they all stilled. There was a scraping noise, a noise that made every hair on their body stand on end, and every nerve in their being to be on edge. It sounded like a mix of nails on a chalk board, metal on metal, a slow and low shrieking in a field of people yelling.
They all huddled together, trying to figure out where it was coming from. They backed away from the hatch, for fear someone would come up. They held each other, staying as close as possible, as they continued to glance around frantically, clutching each other’s arms. They suddenly spun around as they heard laughter, disquieting laughter, laughter to make one shudder with fear and anticipating doom.
No matter where they looked, they couldn’t make out from where it was coming. It seemed to be coming from all directions, echoing around the room. Then suddenly there was silence. Nothing but silence seemed to radiate off the walls.
Then a small, delicate giggle broke the silence. They all whipped their heads in the direction of the noise, as they stared is confusion and fear.
In the corner sat Florica, holding a tape recorder.
“Florica? Wh-what are you doing?” Amy asked, her voice trembly.
She just giggled quietly to herself again.
“Florica, aren’t you scared? Do you know something?” Eric asked peering at her.
She sat in silence, watching them on the cameras screen.
“Florica, listen to me carefully. Do you know who did this?” Logan said gently, as they all took a step toward her.
“Of course, I do!” She giggled, as if it were a silly question.
“Wh- Florica,” Susan drawled out quietly, “Can you tell us who did this?”
“Me!” She replied perkily.
“What!? You!?” They all shouted in unison and collective confusion and shock.
“Why!?” Amy shouted.
Florica looked up at her with small innocent eyes and tilted her head. She stood and bounced on her feet as she grabbed her teddy bear, and opened her mouth to speak, and what came out horrified them all. “I was bored.”
