"I can't do this!" I shout to the doctor as I'm forced from his mind. My annoyance is noted before Doctor Harper holds out her hands, as though the simple gesture could calm me.
"This is the best way to go about waking him. You need to follow the protoc—"
"I can't! You have no idea how hurt Evan is! I need to tell him," I exclaim. Doctor Harper frowns at me before sighing.
"You can't tell him he's trapped in a lucid coma, Ryker. The shock might send him further into the depths of his mind." The doctor had explained that to me when this whole situation started a month ago. At the time, I didn't imagine this would be so difficult. Having agreed to this willingly, I didn't think that falling for Evan would be a possibility. Although, it was clear from Evan's mind that he was starting to fall for me as well. And Darren wasn't much help in there…
Could Evan ever forgive me for misleading him? The idea that the omega wouldn't be able to look past everything that was happening made the anger and frustration in my chest burn hot. I turn to look at Evan as he lay in the hospital bed, hooked up to the beeping machines and breathing support system. If only I could find a way to help Evan more than I was now.
