How could they do this to me? I never did anything to them. I turned the corner and tried to make it past them without being noticed. I didn't want confrontation on my first week of school. It just didn't sit well with me. They saw me and giggled. Then, I did something uncharacteristic of me. I gave them a death stare back. That shocked the leader of the group. She thought I would just burst into tears and scamper away. I wasn't going to do that and somehow I stood my ground. "That was seriously rude doing that to me. I don't know what your problem is but take it elsewhere you rude jerk." It wasn't the best comeback but it worked. I said it with all the spite I could muster. The girl from homeroom noticed my expression. "What's wrong?" "Those sophomore girls had me go to eat with them but never showed up. Then they mocked me when I went past them when I realized what they did." I was on the verge of tears. She took me by the arm and we sat on a bench far from prying eyes. "It's not okay what they did. I know those girls, they just pick on everyone. June is the one who coordinates it all while the other ones are just lackeys. I know its hard, but try not to let it bother you."
I looked up and saw her bright kind eyes shining down on me. "Thanks." Carol put her hands on her hips. "Anytime. Now let's get to class if you're up for it. Those girls can shove a broom up where the light doesn't shine." I was taken aback at her statement. She looked way too sweet to say something like that. You couldn't judge a book by its cover. That's one thing I would have to take a note of. We hung out after school and she introduced me to her other friends. We all seemed to click with one another. I no longer felt self conscious. It felt like they actually enjoyed having me there. I got there phone numbers before I left and deleted the other phone numbers from those fake jerks. They were missing out on how great a friend I could be. "Wanna hang out at my place next week? We could order take out and study."
"That would be awesome." She put her phone in the air and pointed to it with her other hand." "I'll text you my address. I won't forget. I promise." "See ya." We both waved goodbye and went in opposite directions. Carol then flew up into the air with her broomstick and soared into the sky.
