~ Renea Goldson ~
“What did you do? I specifically told you not to go anywhere near those dragons,” Sarah spoke in a slow and angered voice.Renea’s cheeks went red and she bit her lip in worry. How was she supposed to tell Sarah that she had endangered herself? What was she supposed to do? So slowly as she stared up at her keeper she spoke while looking Sarah directly in the eye.
“I...I snuck to their nest and kinda bandaged his wing while he was sleeping,” Renea slowly explained while trying her best not to look at the ground. Slowly Sarah tightly screwed her eyes shut in irritation and annoyance breathing deeply while trying to calm herself.
“Looks like we have a flock of dragons to deal with from now one,” Sarah muttered irritably.
“What?” Renea asked in confusion.
“Because of what you did… No because of who you helped it seems that they are claiming you or even just the house as apart of their flock and territory. Wait… Is this the dragon that marked you?” Sarah asked as her eyes widened.
“Y-Yes? Well no… He bit me when he hatched out of the egg?” Renea responded slowly with more of a question than an answer.
Sarah stared at Renea for a long, hard moment as angered tension surrounded her. There was no way that she was going to get out of this unpunished. When Sarah got mad there was little to nothing that could calm her down and the only thing that seemed to do the trick was falling asleep. Gulping in slight fear, she didn’t notice the black eyes that turned towards the window in a slow stare at Sarah.
“Please don’t be mad my Keeper,” Renea muttered with her head lowered and biting her lip.
Renea didn’t notice both the slight fear and the deep anger that was etched across Sarah’s face. All she saw was the look of worry that clouded both of those emotions. Letting out a deep sigh Sarah kneeled down in front of Renea with a soft look across her face.
“I don’t mean to be mad Renea, it’s just… there is a lot that you don’t know about the world and its creatures,” Sarah began as she tried to explain what was in her head.
“What do you mean?” Renea asked slowly as she tilted her head in confusion.
“I… I mean… I don’t know. It’s just… wild dragons… they were the whole reason that your mother and father aren’t the ones who are raising you,” Sarah said in barely a whisper, Renea’s eyes narrowed in confusion.
“What did you say Keeper? I didn’t hear what you said,” Renea said with a frown across her lips.
“It’s just… It’s just that you have become apart of their flock, and what belongs to a Dragon can never escape a dragon,” Sarah said with a deep frown across her face.
“What do you mean Sarah?” Renea asked with confusion still across her face.
“Those dragons won’t hurt you, you are in simple terms apart of their flock and that means that they will do anything in their power to protect you with their lives. It’s what dragons do, they are possessive and territorial, you will never get away from them,” Sarah explained slowly to the young girl in front of her.
Renea scrunched her eyes in confusion as she stared at Sarah, she didn’t understand. However before she could ask Sarah stood up and spoke slowly. “I need more sleep, these old bones are tired. Stay inside until I wake up, then we will go outside and I will explain more about dragons to you. However for now I need rest,” Sarah said before standing up slowly with a wince before walking out of the room, closing the door behind her. Renea found herself looking out the window faster than she realized. Apart of the Flock? Belonging to the Flock? That sounded strange, and fun. She couldn’t wait for Sarah to get out and introduce them.
“I belong to a Flock of Dragons… Does that mean they belong to me too?” Renea asked aloud as she stared out the window watching the gray dragons jump around in excitement. All of that sounded like fun, she couldn't wait to actually meet the dragons.
