Levi was walking around the woods when he sensed something. The ether was weaker than what he had been exposed to earlier, with Agatha. But after the taxing night he had, he seemed to be more sensitive and less tolerant to it. The ether felt like ... a balloon. Like something that didn't have much power or substance but was still bigger than it had to be. He could tell the ether wanted to fill it's emptiness, like a predator would feed itself on a prey.
Usually, Levi would've ignored it. This was the part of the woods that had flora and fauna that wanted to devour the power of lower beings. It was quite ordinary for this kind of ether to be in the air. He decided to check it out anyway, solely because he was bored. He walked through the narrow path, his wings flapping to keep the vines from hooking on to him. Not that it mattered since he was all stone. The plant's over activity and the sudden surge in ether released meant that the plant was closing in on its kill.
As he approached closer, Levi saw the giant pitcher of the carnivorous plant. It might easily be one of the largest that he's seen. It's green and pink vines curling and it's digestive juices glistening in the pale light of the moon. The bioluminescence of the surrounding flora lighting up the clearing. This particular nook of the woods was mostly devoid of insects, rodents and birds for obvious reasons but the beauty of the carnivorous plant made up for it. Levi almost didn't notice the prey getting entangled by the vines. The said prey's skin was iridescent, making him blend into his surroundings. His skin reflecting the colours in hues of green, gold and pink. His golden eyes in a daze and the snakes atop his head subdued as if they had been intoxicated. The monster himself looked rather intoxicating with his lush skin and slightly muscular build. Levi quickly shook the fleeting thought out of his head and focused on the rescuing at hand.
Levi moved ever-so-slightly so as to not step on the roots or the vines. The plant didn't sense him because he was a gargoyle and he'd like to keep it that way. Unlike most other creatures, gargoyles don't tend to emit energy whether it be heat, light or magic. They generally absorb it. And therefore for primitive creatures which are only capable of sensing magic, he appears as an abyss, a vacuum, a nullification of space. That helped him, greatly, to confuse the plant as he led the dazed gorgon away from its vines.
Levi laid him down, gently, by the Banyan tree. He placed his hands on the gorgon's core, below his chest and above his waist, just by where his rib cage ended, and slowly starting pulling in the foreign magic.
The haze and fogginess in Eury's mind started clearing away. He could feel himself slipping away from the euphoria and coming to. Eury, as soon as he opened his eyes, saw a stranger staring down at him. On reflex, he landed a punch in front of him. He recoiled his hand just as quickly. His knuckles ached, it felt like he had punched stone.
"That's how you repay someone for saving you. If it wasn't for me, you would've been supper by now" The gargoyle took his hand away from from Eury's abdomen. "I'm Leviathan Vro-
"Yea yea, I know who you are, Mister future Guardian." He brought his hand to his forehead as he felt everything around him spinning. "Tell me where I am and how I got here. You didn't drug me or anything, did you?"
"No! Why would I?" Levi stood up and backed off to put some distance. " You must be a first year. Didn't anybody tell you not to wander around here?
"No" Eury stood up but his feet weren't ready to support himself. He fell back on the Banyan tree, bruising his palm on the rough bark. His ears felt like it would pop. A sensation awfully similar to when one's ears are filled with water. "I go there all the time and I've been just fine. You still haven't answered my question"
Levi stepped closer and placed his hand on Eury, again."let me just get the rest. You'll feel better. What you encountered was a magical and wild variant of the Cephalotus follicularism. They tend to grow a lot larger than its cousin. They survive on ether, magic or essence. You wouldn't die, but it still isn't a pleasant experience." He continued rubbing circles over his clothes to drain the last bit of magic. "They usually lure their prey, intoxicating them over a period of a couple of weeks, especially if it is a large creature. The victim usually feels the need to stay near the plant at all times." Levi finished up, rubbing his hands together. "Better?"
"Yea. Thanks man. Did you take a class or something for it?"
"I Major in Creature studies. And don't worry about it, I'll fix your hang-out spot in no time." Levi said, taking out a notepad and scribbling something in it. " Just need to discuss it with the council. Oh! And here before I forget it, your glasses, here. I had took them off earlier."
Eury brought his hands to his face in shock. "Oh My Zeus! How are you not stone right now?" He put his glasses back on.
"That would be because I'm already um- eh... stone?"
"That makes sense. Do you mind if we walked? My legs feel awfully stiff"
"Sure. We can walk. So, if it's alright, would you mind answering what exactly you're doing here at this time of the night?"
"Why? Are you going to detain me or something?"
"No. I would really have no reason to"
"Relax, I was just pulling your leg. I was dumped. Again.
"Well, if you've got nowhere to go, you can crash at my place"
