"I am fine!"
"Are you sure, Micahilla?"
"Yes, Dornnih. Thanks. See you!" I said, hugging him.
We followed different paths. I went straight to my lab. Arriving, I saw that they had taken all the data I was researching about the super virus that compromised the first colonization mission. Dornnih told me that, probably, the second colonization mission will have to turn around if there is a total decrease in the colonization already installed.
It was a cruel situation. The spaceship that was traveling could turn around in up to 16 years, which was the period in which it would complete half the route since it had been traveling for 17 years out of a total that would be 67 years. After that, there would be no going back, because nuclear fuel was only for one-way travel.
To try to help the colony in any way, since they took away my mission to analyze the virus, I decided to proceed with my research on instant communication by quantum entanglement. Despite having so many teams working on the same research, none of them got as far as me.
Achieving some success, this could help in communication with the colony and thus, we could communicate with them instantly, and no longer wait for so long until the messages arrive from one to the other, especially now, in this critical situation in which they found themselves.
I wanted to be recognized for the research I did on my own, and not just as a simple mapper of planetary systems. They were very prejudiced against those who were not graduated in the field.
"Ignorance," I thought, indignantly. "A diploma meant nothing."
"@#+@#+%+ Trissandri," I said to myself, disgusted.
She had left many messages. Not one of them asking how I was since I was hospitalized. @ # + # @ & insensitive supervisor.
I organized my entire schedule to make the work she gave me without having to abuse the stimulants. During that time, I recorded a video call to Drinihian. We needed to see each other. I was dying of longing.
Before continuing with the reports to Trissandri, I returned to the research of instant communication by quantum entanglement. Before feeling ill and being hospitalized, she had left Artificial Intelligence interpreting various types of signals that were captured from space.
About instant communication by quantum entanglement, it was essential to have an understanding to fully explain this phenomenon, and thus take full advantage of its potential. We have been aware of quantum entanglement for over 132 years, but to this day we cannot understand how it occurs.
My research was on track to explain this phenomenon through dimensional jumps, through which interlaced particles achieved this feat. Explaining more simply, everything that was intertwined exchanged quantum state information instantly, regardless of the distance they were separated by the Universe and that happened, because that communication occurred in another dimension that coexists with ours. In the zero dimension, where everything existed in the same place in space. This, until now, was my thesis that I am trying to conclude experimentally. If I were right, it would even allow space jumps. The long-awaited mass teleportation.
Analyzing the data that Artificial Intelligence processed, I saw that everything was just noise. I worked for a few hours in the research of instant communication by quantum entanglement. The evolution of research and development was being slow. Already tired of hitting the same key and not finding a solution, I decided to continue with Trissandri's reports.
"Drinihian!"
He had answered my video call, just with a simple text message.
We will meet at Flower Square in the early evening.
Flower Square was a natural preservation park, far from the big city. Our meeting was short on time. I accelerated with the reports. When I was almost finished, I received a video call...
"Trissandri, how are you?"
"You're late! I want the 1123LL3 space quadrant reports and mappings within an hour. Send me all! No mistakes. And, I also want you here in my office! I want to talk to you."
"Yes! I will be there! Trissandri, I..."
She had interrupted the video call in my face. I was going to ask for extended breaks. I wanted more time so I could pay more attention to Drinihian. I ran with the job and finished in record time. I sent it to Trissandri and proceeded to meet him, in order. Arriving…
"Excuse me, Trissandri. What do you want to talk to me about?"
She ignored me for a few seconds.
"You are making small mistakes. You are not doing exactly what I ordered."
I realized that the errors she was talking about were improvements that I thought would be more efficient in grouping the information.
"I understand, but they are improvements. This not only improved the organization of the data but also helped me to be more efficient in the process and deliver in a more timely manner."
Trisssandri ignored me again for a few seconds.
"You're ignoring my orders!"
"No, Trissandri, I..."
"You shouldn’t decide anything without my consent. I give the orders and you do as I determined."
"But..."
"I sent you more work. If you want to be skilled, do everything as directed. Now go."
"YOUR +#@+%@%@!" I shouted, mentally, in disgust.
"Yes. Excuse me."
She had barely looked at me and didn't even ask if I was okay. I left the room mad with rage. I was getting tired, but I had a date with Drinihian. I went to my quarters and got ready for him. When I was going to meet him, I received a notification from the laboratory's Artificial Intelligence, on my digital bracelet.
She had detected a sign of a possible alien message. I went to the laboratory. Analyzing the data, I saw that the signal came from our star.
It was a pattern that was repeated, but I had no idea how to translate it. I was so excited that I kept analyzing the data trying to decipher what the signal might be.
You’re late. Are you ok?
It was a simple message from Drinihian. I immediately answered it with a video call.
"Hi, Drih! Forgive me. I just…"
"Alright Micah! I know you have a routine that is very committed to your work, and that's why I need to talk to you too," said Drinihian interrupting me.
"Yes. These last periods have left me running out of time, but I'm going to ask for an extended break. You could ask too, so we can have more time for each other. I'm missing you. I love you…"
Drinihian interrupted me.
"It's all right. I am also out of time and will be more absent. I started my first real flight and I'm going to…"
"One moment, baby, it’s my supervisor."
I left Drinihian on hold.
"Hello, Trissandri."
"I need you to come here again, now!"
"Now I won't be able to, I would..."
"Immediately!" said Trissandri, looking furious and hanging up the video call.
"I hate that woman. I can not take it anymore!" I thought, furious.
I returned with the call with Drinihian.
"Drih?"
He had hung up. I returned to him, but He didn’t answer me. I received a simple message from him.
Sorry, when I can, I'll call you. I had to go because I was just called on an emergency mission. Later!
Then I realized that he was weird. He was not affectionate as he always was
"Is he upset with me?" I thought, worried.
I didn't insist and I went to Trissandri's office.
"Excuse."
"I received orders to interrogate you!"
"Interrogate? About what?"
"About the information, you are having unauthorized access to."
I was surprised because there were so many. I remained quiet.
"What do you have to tell me?"
"I will not lie. Yes, I am having access to some information, but all for research purposes."
"You are lucky that I intervened because if not, you would be suspended from all your activities. I must stop unauthorized access. From now on your work will be doubled. Since you have time to do research that you have not been entrusted with, then you will have time for an extra workload."
I didn't question her, because she was right. Much of the information was highly confidential. I was worried about Dornnih because he gave me access to a lot of that information.
"Go! And if it causes me more problems, you will be punished."
I bowed my head in appreciation and excused myself. I left more revolted, cursing everything. Walking sadly, I headed back to the lab.
"What if I …," I said, in thought, having an idea to try to understand the signal captured from our star and, maybe, even a possible solution for my communication research on quantum entanglement.
I ran excitedly to get to the lab as soon as possible.
