I was pretty sure I could decipher the signal, but for that, I had to complete my research on quantum entanglement communication. I was almost certain that the dimensional leap was the answer to the instantaneous quantum entanglement. Zero dimension. Where everything exists in the same place in space.
"How I never thought about that before?" I thought, resigned.
One of the major difficulties for the viability of quantum entanglement communication was that the transmitter and receiver would have to be removed with the speed limitation we had. What I realized was that we would not need to use a quantum transmitter and receiver and move them apart so that they could communicate with each other, but we could use the star itself.
For example: since our star appeared billions of years ago, its light has been traveling throughout the Universe. The starlight of the system, where our colony is, is within reach, in our field of vision. With that, it's like the light is making a bridge. A bridge between the star of the colony system and us, who see it. Its light, which reaches us, could be used to create a quantum bridge and, with that, we would intertwine with the star. So, we could use the stars as a means of quantum communication.
With that, it could be that someone or something in the Universe is doing this to the star of our system, and, maybe, trying to send a message. What I would need to do, to make sure my idea was right, was to quantify and interpret the signal pattern and translate it into some possible message.
I worked on it for hours, but it was very difficult. I stopped to program and improve my Artificial Intelligence, and improve the analysis and quantification process. When I realized, it was already morning.
"I'm tired, but I shouldn't be doing that," I told myself.
I didn't care and took stimulants to be able to continue the research.
"Jobs for Trissandri," I said, disgusted.
She was going to charge me and hadn't done even 5% of what she had determined. I was going to stop what I was doing to continue Trissandri's work, but I had a new idea that would help me with my research, and, for that, I would have to access files that I was not authorized to do.
Attention had already been drawn to this, but I was so close to getting the answers to my research that I didn't hesitate to access what I needed. I used the easy access that Dornnih gave me.
I was so excited that I had forgotten about all the other commitments. Hours passed and, suddenly, my Artificial Intelligence detected an invasion in my system.
"What is happening?"
The entire system has been blocked.
"My researches !! I do not believe it."
I was desperate. Who could have done this? I soon realized that it was not an invasion but a blockade.
"+#@+#" I swore, revolted.
Trissandri came into my office with security guards.
"You have been warned not to access what you are not allowed," said Trissandri, looking furious.
I didn't know what to say. I had broken the orders I had received.
"You should be ashamed. An Assistant Researcher. And now you will lose your post," said Trissandri, with a slight smile.
"Yes! I accessed things I was not authorized to access and would do it again! But all of this is for a cause that is worth the risk. I am very close to completing my research in the area of communication through quantum entanglement. This will enable instant communication with the colony, which is experiencing problems."
"There is! There is! Researchers, much more graduated, are far from achieving anything efficient in this area. You who only have a degree, do you think you know to achieve such a feat?"
"Certainly, yes! It is not a diploma that will tell you what I am capable of!" I said, irritated.
"You can take it. I am no longer responsible for it."
Security guards approached me and led me to the Detention Wing. It was a place where there were hardly any people because everyone was dedicated to the maximum to follow the rules in favor of everyone. A common goal. Evolve. Our evolution was necessary to reach more and more stars.
They left me in a room, alone. I spent hours thinking that I was almost getting a solution.
A display lit up on one wall.
"Micahilla! Keep calm. I'll get you out of this."
"Dornnih, this is all my fault and I don't want you to pay for it."
"Stop this! Be patient. Soon you will get out of there!"
"Don't do anything that will harm you. My career is over here! Do not harm yours."
Dornnih smiled at me.
"It's all right! We’ll be all right! Need to go."
He ended the video call. I wasn't going to forgive myself if something hurt his career. I was thinking about the end of everything I had built professionally. All a waste of time. I could have dedicated myself to something simpler, and that I had time to spare. Time for me and Drinihian.
For a while, I was thinking about him. He was going to be super disappointed with what had happened to me. I hoped he would understand. The good thing about all this is that there was going to be more time for our relationship, but...
"What?" I woke up scared.
I had slept sitting in the corner of the room. I saw that they had left something to feed me. Without questioning the simple food, I ate. I was very hungry. I thought, slept, walked, thought, and had no idea of the time passing. I had the impression that I had been in prison for a long time.
It seemed that days had passed in this unkind situation. I was almost freaking out, but I stopped myself. Suddenly someone came in and...
"Everything is solved! It is released. Forgive me for the delay," said Dornnih, smiling.
I ran over to him and hugged him
"Thanks! Thank you! Thank you! But what did you do? You weren't punished for me, were you?"
"No, no. Despite being, for now, just one (First Lieutenant), I have my influences in posts above," said Dornnih, laughing.
"Thanks!" I said, giving him another tighter hug.
I saw someone entering the door…
"Drih !!"
I ran up to him and hugged him, kissing him as if I hadn't seen him forever. After a few more seconds:
"Calm down, Micah! Everything is fine now. Let's go," said Drinihian.
"Forgive me! I had no choice. It was so close..."
"It's all right."
"The sad thing is, I don't have a job anymore," he said sadly.
"Yes, but you're smart. You'll get another one," said Drinihian, trying to console me.
"For sure! And I already did," said Dornnih, looking embarrassed.
I approached him and took his hands.
"Thanks, my friend. I can only be thankful. But I don't want to compromise your career."
"Stop it, Micahilla. We cannot waste your talent. I managed to recover part of your research. Because of them, you got your release. I was able to convince the council that you are very important, even if you are not graduated in the areas in which you conduct your research. They were surprised by many of the things that you were researching. Some remained in their power, for evaluation, and others they released, for you to continue with your work. Now you will have more time to dedicate yourself to your research. You’ll talk about the progress of this research just with me now," said Dornnih, laughing," said Dornnih, laughing.
I started to cry and hugged him again.
"Thanks!" I said, touched.
"Go! Go with Drinihian! I also must go now. Whatever you need, don't hesitate to contact me."
He wiped my tears away with a light touch on my face and left.
"Thank you, Dornnih," said Drinihian to him. "Come on, Micah! Let's enjoy the time we have!"
"What about you? What happened last time? What emergency did you attend? And your time? Aren't you out of time lately?"
"I'm still out of time, but I had a long break. On my last mission, something horrible happened. The last emergency..."
When Drinihian was going to explain to me, we were interrupted by the general supervisor for mapping planetary systems of groups in quadrant 116L21, official military officer (Captain Lieutenant Colonel) Hennmi, who was accompanied by the (Supervisor) Trissandri.
