Jem decided it was a bad idea, the moment he saw the door.

According to the plan, he and Jack were supposed to enter the captain’s cabin and find whatever item Jack was talking about.

The door had a skull engraved on it. It was made out of gold, and surrounding it was carvings of men getting slaughtered made out of wood.

Jack pushed the door, and it swung inside with a creaking noise. Jack was right, the captain’s door was always open. The crew never even peeped inside his cabin. But according to Jack, it was more fear than loyalty. They would instantly follow anyone, the moment they would prove to be more powerful than Blackbeard.

As they entered the cabin, a horrible smell struck him. Jem almost blacked out at the smell. It seemed the captain had not cleaned his cabin for a few decades. There were flies all over the place. Creepers climbed up the walls of his cabin. There was a broken piano in one corner and a moldy wooden chair in the other. In the center of the room, lay a carpet, that seemed to like to be, made out of Caucasian human skin.

Jem was horrified at the thought. But Jack seemed to be undisturbed by these facts. The guy had quite a stomach for these things.

Blackbeard himself was snoring in a bed, in one corner. Jem and Jack started searching, even though none of them knew what exactly they were searching for. While searching, Jem noticed, a picture on the walls, covered with creepers. Jem removed the creepers and it was a picture of a younger Blackbeard, a beautiful woman, and a young girl. They had a smile glued to their face. Jem realized he was looking at Blackbeard’s family.

He felt bad for the guy, knowing that he was struck on this island, while they were somewhere on the mainland waiting for him to return. Jem realized, that it was almost like his own case. He had a mother and father out in the real world, who would have been devasted, upon hearing the news of Luxior missing from the seas.

He touched the picture and realized that it was a hidden chamber. He saw a knob on the side of a picture and pressed it. The pictured slide sideways, until Jem could see, what was in it.
