IMAGINE

You were born with the world on your shoulders
You bore things a child should never have to bear
You spend your life wondering “When will it be over?”
You wonder why it is that nobody seems to care
But imagine this
You grow up one day and find yourself in a new place
The world is dark and bright all at the same time
You’ll know that your memories can never be erased
But if you just take a deep breath, you know that you’ll be fine
You often felt like your life wasn’t even yours
The trauma was so strong, you had to watch from the outside
Have you always felt like this? Was there ever a “before”?
You were being swiftly pulled in and out by the riptide
But imagine this
You grow up one day and find yourself with a smile on your face
You find yourself crying, this time from laughter instead of sadness
The joy can be so intense that it’s like you’re floating in space
You’ll be so grateful for a reprieve from the madness
There will still be bad times and sad times
You’ll struggle internally for the rest of your life
You will even find yourself contemplating suicide
But just don’t give up, no matter what, it’ll be alright
Imagine this
One day you’ll have a child of your own
And because of your experiences and life history
You’ll know what not to do, and how to atone
You’ll learn to appreciate that life is a mystery
Every day you’ll learn something new
You’ll have chances and choices which lead down different paths
But you’ll need to be careful, as the choices affect more than just you
Be conscientious, remember to always make a rough draft
Just imagine yourself happy and secure
Just imagine that you’ll find love and endless open doors
Just imagine one day you’ll be less timid, more sure
Just imagine that one day the world will be yours
And imagine
That maybe
Just maybe
If you keep it up
Your imagination
Your hopes
Your dreams
Your aspirations
Will come to life
