The man in front of them had sweat running down his temples and cheeks, no doubt he had come running as soon as he received the news. In one of his hands he held what appeared to be a letter, which he extended when he noticed the stares of his superiors.

-Captain," he exclaimed, leaving the yellowish piece of paper in Cárcel's hands.

The manuscript was sealed with red sealing wax. The engraving on the seal was the king's crown, formed by a gold frame adorned with precious stones and interpolating four golden points protruding from the frame, each one positioned according to the cardinal points; the point ornamenting the king's forehead was shaped like a rising rose, determining the beauty in the kingdom's power for his subjects and, likewise, a paradox because the profligate beauty that was so acclaimed did not even come close to those wretched bugs. Jail carelessly broke the seal, taking part of the letter with him on the spot, ignorant of such carelessness, unfolded the sheet and read:

Las Brisas.

Corneria, June 03, 1802.

Dear Captain of the Royal Infantry:

The esteem and solemn protection you have devoted to afford us, has made me a devout believer in your honor and worth, besides preserving the exquisite relation between our families in the depths of my heart, therefore I inform you and earnestly request a duty which, for the kingdom, is most sacred, which is the search for the crown prince Sebastian.

I hope that this request will not delay too long and that we will gladly receive news from you.

Her Majesty the Queen.

Jail crumpled the note and threw it against the wall. He moved his shoulders until they creaked, reflecting how tense and tired he was. Being of the royal guard, one of the first assignments was to guard and protect the king's family, for that reason, there were eight captains who were assigned to each of the members; he was consigned to the crown prince, known as the walking volcano, for being lustful, imposing and unpredictable.

The blond turned to the quickened subordinate and asked if there was anything else besides the letter, to which he replied in the affirmative. He explained that the emissary said the prince liked to frequent pleasure houses in the city and, if he infiltrated the vessel, it was very likely that the first choice would be a place like that. Jail thanked him for the thorough explanation and finished by asking him to gather all the cadets in front of the ship; soon Alejandro and he would join them to begin the search.

-He is already twenty-three years old and he continues with stupid childishness," Alejandro complained once the cadet had left.

-Speaking ill of the future king will send you to the gallows," warned Cárcel with a serious look on his face.

They shook out their suits, trying to smooth out the small wrinkles that formed, once they felt ready to leave the office, they put away the pistol and shotgun, to finally head for the main door. As they were about to leave the mansion, Cárcel remembered that he was going to leave Alba with her family that day, so he asked Alejandro to wait a few more minutes; he went straight to the kitchen, where he found the maid Ana preparing tea. He asked her to take care of the guest as if she were his sister or daughter, to which she gladly accepted with a broad smile.

The two men left around half past four in the morning, resigned to a day full of stress and headaches.

The sight of the sunrise over the ocean was a placid sight to behold, the blue being tinged by a light yellow expanding as the sun rose higher and higher. Scenery like that tended to be more striking to outsiders; those who grew up in Della never even glanced at it.

From the wharf, built entirely of stone, to the village there was a long distance, therefore, carts were used to transship the goods sent from distant cities or to pick up eminences that, very rarely, arrived in the village. Different transports were used for both situations: The one for goods was built by two elongated boards on the sides, one on top of the other, which would be equivalent to four boards on both sides, in the front and back area was the same, only that these measured half as much as its flanks, the four wheels were of different sizes, the front ones were smaller creating a small unevenness in the carriage, and in the front part a trunk was placed which was held by the animal to pull it; For the guests of high lineage it was important to distinguish themselves from the crowd, so another type of cart was built, which consisted of the same, only that the wood was sanded more carefully and resinated, other differences were the white canvas that covered the float and the non-existence of the unevenness caused by the difference between wheels. Weekends were the busiest days at the dock, and when night fell, the carriage drivers would return home in their carts, where they were carefully stored, fearing that any imperfection would provoke the fury of their bosses, especially if they were the luxurious ones.

That morning, Goyo, the town doctor's worker, got up early to take the cart out, clean it and go in search of the seafood that, according to the boss, arrived at the dock, even though it was the beginning of the week. Dazed and drowsy, he rushed to the small bush behind the hut where he lived, where he normally placed the cart; however, the absence of the cart left him stunned. Soon after, he understood the gravity of what had happened.

Terrified, he ran screaming that he had been robbed, with his face distorted and tears half out of their sockets. The other people looked at him with indifference or pity, knowing the consequences he would face if the carriage was not returned to its place in good condition, an effect ignored by the young man, with bloody hair, lying inside the stolen property next to a woman much older than him. The scene was chaotic: garments strewn everywhere, agitated breaths and ecstatic moans.

The woman twitched as she rode, and when she was about to reach the peak she climbed eagerly, she arched up and let out a scream, her nails digging into the bare chest of the young man who smiled with satisfaction. Instead of withdrawing his member, he plunged it in harder, taking the newly liberated lady by surprise; clinging to her hips, he lifted her a little, without leaving her interior, and then laid her down on the warm wood. The abruptness of the thrusts caused the woman to narrow her eyes, deepening the wrinkles around them, and with both hands, positioned on her abdomen, she tried to slow down the speed of the lunges.

The adult who looked like a teenager took the female's hands to place them on her head. It bothered him that they behaved lukewarm when they were knowledgeable of the lust to which they agreed to be dragged; to him, the objection of a cheap whore was equal to listening to a barking dog, ignorable. Forcefully he slid his grip until he imprisoned her wrists, and, if he was already rough before, this time he doubled the force with which he entered her. Tears slid down the sandy-toned skin unchecked and pleas sprang from the poor servant's reddened, swollen lips; the clarity afforded by the rising sun revealed the burning wounds on the chestnut's torso. Nothing she did or said dampened the brutality that radiated from that traveler. His voracity was in distinctive categories, the likes of which she had never imagined experiencing.

With what little strength she had left she mumbled:

-Young master, take pity on this almost old woman.

After those agonizing words, the young man immersed in the fierce swaying brought his lips closer, which kissed and bit with feigned devotion; the woman, feeling the warmth of his touch, clung to his neck and opened her legs wider, giving him a better welcome. For a pure-blooded stallion like him, there were only two ways to go to get what he liked, and that was with the movement of his pelvis combined with affectionate gestures and brandishing his magnificent golden sword. Diplomacy was observed, in his misconception, as contemptible and unfruitful; thus, during audiences at the palace he feels suffocated by the decorous requests made by the heads of families. The unpleasant memories in the court ended up extinguishing the fire that corroded his lower entrails and muscles, leading to the icy treatment of the initial point. He stepped out from inside the female and pushed one of her legs together. She climbed down from the cart to stretch each of her slightly cramped limbs, all under the wakefulness of a confused fiery woman. They say that ignorance is a privilege at times, but also a disadvantage, of which she sinned.

The place where they arrived was huge and just at that moment it was beginning to bathe in gold by the reflection of the sun. The light exposed the flesh of both, one smoother than the other, but in one thing they coincided: the scars that time gave them. The servant approached with languid and loose steps, once she was behind him she embraced him, caressed the hard chest that protruded slightly from the rest of the trunk and kissed with exquisite fervor the curve of the left shoulder; immersed in different tricks that she wanted to put in place to rekindle the wild lust that inhabited in such a handsome being, she was slow to notice the avaricious look of this one. He stopped his movements, like a deer when it senses danger, and averted his gaze to the ground. Every part of his bruised body tensed and the almost imperceptible hairs stood up trembling, like the fear inside him.

-We're done. -He turned away from her as he smoothed her long hair with his fingers. The money I promised you is in my pants. Look for it," he said indifferently.

The tension in the woman's body eased and a pleased smile flitted across her lips. The amount offered the night before was so large that she could live on it for three to five years, without needing to work; still, a hint of greed appeared in her eyes. The barely perceptible smile widened, now with more confidence, she strutted as daintily as possible around the red-haired man, who was still lost in thought.

-Young master, do you remember what you said yesterday? -she asked in a mischievous tone. He didn't receive an answer because remembering was the last thing he felt like doing, so he continued, "You said that you only required my services for the rest of the night, but not the early hours of the morning, much less the first hours of the morning. -She approached the man, swaying her hips, getting his attention. Those peculiar blue eyes dotted with the green of the leaves watched her intently, the glint in them giving them a mystical and, for some strange reason, intimidating touch. Would you be so kind as to give me a few more reais for the extra work?

What a bitch I've come to mess with, he thought, baring his teeth in an attempt at a smile. His blood was beginning to heat up at such audacity on the part of a mere commoner.

-How many more reales do you want? -he asked, suppressing the hostility in his voice.

The brunette let out a shy giggle.

-Three hundred and twenty reals will be more than enough.

This time it was he who let out a loud laugh of disbelief. The amount promised at the time was one hundred and twenty-eight reals because of the passionate gifts she was so highly praised for in Corneria; everyone called her the doe Carmine. However, she possessed no qualities, other than squeezing his inner self, perhaps to the other men of the underworld she was the wonder, which would explain so many pathetic compliments, but, to him, she was just another whore of the bunch.

He clenched his hands into fists trying to contain the anger growing inside him. How could a prince let himself be treated like anyone else, he asked himself. No way, was his answer. With a swift movement he pounced on Carmine's neck, like a tiger on its prey. The cracked neck contracted as he felt the overpowering force and the confident face congested, warning of the great mistake he had made. The prince's eyes burned blue fire with green sparks, menacing and terrifying, as they had always been.

-You are very bold," he mocked. He forced the doe closer, squeezing her hand tighter. Despite your unpleasant attitude, I will keep my promise and I will also give you what you just asked for. -He continued to tighten his fingers around her neck, making it more difficult for Carmine, who was clinging desperately to the prince's wrist, to breathe. But not now. I will when you bring me someone worthwhile," he warned dismissively. His highness brought his face close to hers, only to reach the doe's swollen lips and lick them slowly. It must be the opposite of you, only then will I give you what you ask for. Beware and you prefer to play dumb because the edge of my sword will chase you, no matter where you hide, I will find you, old witch.

Finishing his speech he released her, letting her fall down sitting on the grass. The woman coughed uncontrollably and caressed the place that was just released, on it remained the marks of the fingers that hours later would become bruises. Without waiting for the discomfort outside and inside her throat to cease, she ran to the cart in search of her clothes, she did not dress, she just took them and fled the place; in her head the sentence given to her was repeated over and over again, besides those burning eyes that caused her so much horror. At the same time, the prince laughed placidly observing how the blood absent from his hand returned, enlivening the tonality of his skin. He also made his way to the wagon, where he dressed the pageboy suit he stole in the same area as this one, ready, he tied the leather belt from which hung the sheathed sword and, finally, he covered himself with the black cloak he picked up in the dock of the capital, dirty and the stench it emanated was unbearable, but it was still useful. He cautiously observed the surroundings in search of any strange presence, then covered his red hair with the hood of the cloak.

Corneria, a majestic city with exotic suburbs, was like a gold medal that any man would want to flaunt; however, only those trapped behind the walls knew what life was like inside. The splendor was only a façade created by the crass nobility, hiding the atrocious injustices and acts against the wretched.
