Warning. Intended innuendos of flirtation and Nightmare being a blushing boi is included in this chapter. Lol 😆🤣

"Serve up on table four! Serve up on table four!" Sunny cheerfully cried out to Meredith. Who, by the way, was still giving her stern looks, but served the meal to its designated table.

How you may say did our clever, able bodied Sunny survive the jump from the cliff. Well... it was complicated, but basically she dropped a few feet, turned her body around, quickly brought out her grappling hook and shot out to a nearby branch that was sprouting from the overhang a few feet from the top of the cliff. She then hung there for a few seconds then swung her body to the cliff and started to slowly and quietly climb her way down to the forest. Afterwards, she trekked her way through the forest using the directions from her phone and via virtual compass. And when she finally made it to town and back home, Meredith was waiting impatiently for her. Then proceeded to chew her ass out about how stupid that was.

'The things I do for love...' Sunny thought bitterly and tiredly while she served customers.

Meanwhile, back at the castle...

"i'll be back, if my kitchen is burned down when i get home, i'll kill something.." Nightmare grumbled the last part to himself. The LAST time that happened, Dust and Blue were cooking. A new rule was set that they couldn't be together unsupervised. With that shuddering thought in mind, he teleported to the general location the flier had given. With a hum, he looked around and started down the street in search of the actual restaurant.

A young boy was playing with his friend nearby where he teleported. The boy accidentally ran into him. But remarkably the boy wasn't too scared of him. Just nervous about being scolded.

"you wouldn't happen to know where the sunny side up diner is, would you?" He asked, not particularly caring that the child ran into him. Children would be children.

The child perked up at that. "Yeah! I was there with my mom during breakfast! Their food is the BEST and the owner is suuuuper nice! It's down that way and around the corner." The boy pointed behind him and across the street.

"thank you, here." Nightmare had some candy he confiscated from Blueberry earlier. He found it and gave it to the boy. "our secret." He would have winked if he had the use of both his eyes.

The boy grinned from ear to ear. "Thanks mister!" He ran back to his friend to show off the candy.

Nightmare followed the boy directions to the most out of place looking diner in the Negatives' side of the kingdom. He immediately liked it. He opened the door, listening to the cheery chime, before actually entering the building. He felt kind of out of place. He'd never actually BEEN in a diner before.

That was till one of the waitresses nervously went up to him if he'd like a seat.

"yes please." He hated how they got all nervous or scared. He should have taken his passive form or something. He sighed quietly. It's too late now.

It's kind of funny, he once relished in people's fears. But ever since his world was reborn and he made up with his brother. He just didn't feel like enjoying it as much. He was guided to a corner booth, away from prying eyes. To which he was secretly grateful for. Soon another customer came in and the waitress asked another to serve him while she greeted the other one.

He looked at the menu. All the choices looked divine. He hummed in thought. This would be hard. He figured they'd start with drinks. He wasn't in the mood for anything alcoholic, he wasn't even sure if a diner served such drinks. Ultimately he decided on apple juice. It was a childhood favorite.

He was in the middle of choosing something to eat until a voice that sounded like a glass bell sounded. "Hello sir! How can I he---"

All of her enthusiasm left her as soon as she saw who he was. Sunny was either extremely lucky, or extremely screwed.

"Yes actually, which is better, your grilled cheese or-" He trailed off as well. She was extremely familiar to him. Hauntingly so. "... sunny..?"

She blushed fiercely when she heard him say her name. She stammered, "H-hi... how are you today my king?" Her words were like honey for him.

He suppressed a shiver and blushed at her beautiful voice. "much better now.. my have you grown." He paused a moment before adding, "and you don't have to call me "my king". my name is just fine, sunny."

"O-ok. Nightmare. C-can I get you anything?" She nervously asked.

He'd honestly forgotten about food. "o-oh right.. um.. a grilled cheese will do, please." He couldn't suppress the shiver he felt when she actually did call him by his name.

"R-right. Um, anything to have with that? A drink?"

"um, apple juice."

"Oh! Ok. T-that's my favorite... I hope you'll like ours. It's homemade." She stammered with a sweet smile.

"apple juice is my favorite as well, and since it's homemade... i bet i'll love it." He totally wasn't trying and likely failing to flirt.

Sunny blushed a bit and giggled. "Thank you! Are you sure I can't call you "my king"?" She asked inquisitively.

"i-i mean.. if you want.." He blushed. She was so much better at this than him.

She giggled and as she left the table to get the order processed, she whispered loud enough for him to hear. "I'll keep that in mind later~~~"

He was screaming internally. What did that mean? Well he knew what it meant, but just- AHHHHHHHHH! "calm down, night, calm down.." It was quite obvious to him that the crush was still there. Now to keep that promise. He composed himself. He could use a good thing after all the shit that's been going down. If she still wanted to be with someone like him...

After a few minutes she came back out with his order and placed it in front of him.

"Here you go sir. One apple juice and some grilled cheese." He was surprised at how she managed to carry it out along with the orders that she was also carrying along with her. Not only that but his order literally looked like it was fit to be served to a king. The sandwiches were two times the size and the apple juice was in a beer keg.

"oh man! i hope you didn't make it all nice just for me." He was joking and had a feeling that this is how everyone was served. "it looks delicious.. i suppose you can't join me for lunch then." He commented, gesturing to the other orders.

She gave him a playful grin. "Actually. After I serve these last few orders, I'll be on lunch break. So~ you asking me on a semi date~?" She lightly purred out.

He was blushing again, if he'd even stopped before. "i ,uh, i guess? i was hoping to catch up some, discuss a few things, get to know each other more.." He looked at her hopefully.

She decided to tease him and actually looked like she was thinking about it. "Hmmmm~ I don't know~ CAN you handle all THIS~" she gestured from her shining blonde hair to her perfectly toned hourglass body.

He wanted to. "i- i, uh... yeah..?"

She giggled. "You didn't have to make it into a question, silly! But yes. I'll join you in a few---"

She was interrupted by a loud male customer. She was trying to avoid him since he was passing moves on her. To say it made her uncomfortable was an understatement. "Coming... sir..." She gave Nightmare an apologetic look and left to serve.

Nightmare nearly growled. Why did people have to be assholes? She was going to get to him in a minute, he didn't have to be impatient. He sighed heavily. No matter now, she was already gone and he'd have to wait. He took a sip of his apple juice, humming at the delicious taste.

Sunny quickly served the other meals first then went to the one who rudely cat called her. She was secretly hoping he would just leave.

"Hello sir. Sorry it took so long but here's your order." She coldly but professionally said as she placed the plate of food in front of him.

"Ah, don't give me the cold shoulder, sweet cheeks, come have a seat." He offered, patting the spot next to him.

She took a deep breath but surprisingly held her cool. "Sir, I'm sorry. I am currently busy serving other customers. And quite frankly, I would rather not." She said bitterly.

He ignored her tone. He liked it when they were feisty. "Ok, ok, well I lost my phone number, so can I have yours~"

She mentally face palmed. "Sir for the last time, I do NOT have time for you. In fact," *she looks at her watch*, "I'm going to be on my lunch break. WITH MY BOYFRIEND." She gestured to the goopy skeleton that may or may not have been eavesdropping.

He was glowering at the guy, who was now gulping nervously, with tentacles twitching like they were ready to strangle someone. "O-oh.. I-I see... uh.. Ch-check please.."

She smirked triumphantly. "I'll inform Meredith to bring the check. Have a good afternoon sir." She then strutted her way to the back and may or may not have sashayed her hips slightly for Nightmare and disappeared in the back to tell Meredith and to get something else.

Nightmare had felt proud of himself for successfully keeping that prick away from his Sunny. Seeing her do that though had him in a blushing mess yet again.

Meredith may or may not have been eyeing the goopy king since he came in. "What is HE doing here!?" She quitely hissed.

Sunny was taken aback by her quiet outburst, but honestly she saw this coming ever since she saw him at the booth. "I honestly don't know. I mean, it COULD be a coincidence? But I'm positive that he doesn't know. He would've been more aggressive!" Sunny reasoned with her frazzled friend as she walked over to a drawer and pulled out a small envelope.

She relaxed a bit. "If you think so.. What'd he say? What'd YOU say? He was blushing A LOT." She was curious now that they potentially weren't in danger.

Sunny stuffed the small envelope in her shirt and proceeded to smirk at her curious friend. "Who's to say~? I DID say that he was a bit of a lovable dork. Oh! And before I forget! There's a perv at table four that needs his check. Give him the Sunny Side "specialty customer service" why don'tcha?" She grinned mischievously.

Meredith mirrored her grin. "Gladly, my girl. I gotcha covered."

"Good because I'm going on my lunch break/date right now~". Sunny sang as she practically skipped out of the kitchen.

Nightmare was looking at an apple, encased in indigo magic. He'd always kept it on him, as a good luck charm of sorts. Now he felt he sorely needed the luck as not to screw this up.

Meredith was having a fun time dragging Mr. Pervy out of the diner with a good kick in the rear for extra measure.

Sunny walked up from behind him and stared at the strange looking fruit. "Whatcha got there~?" She asked right next to his face.

He jolted, looking at her, before realizing the proximity and blushing again. "uh.. well, you gave this to me, actually.." He replied quietly, as he recalled that night. He'd had no clue how she slipped it in without his know-how, but he was positive she'd been the one to give it to him. So he'd preserved it in magic, as his good luck charm and reminder of his promise.

She was confused for a minute till realization dawned on her and she looked at him in amazement.

"How in the nine circles of Hell and seven levels of Heaven were you able to keep it like that?!" She squealed with happiness. She thought it was amazing that he had preserved it so well for over the years. She also thought it was cute at how he showed how much it meant to him.

He smirked at her. "mmmmaaaagic~." He replied simply, leaning onto his elbow.

Sunny quirked an eyebrow at him. Then had gotten a devious idea. She sat from across from him and used her foot to move slightly up his leg while she leaned in close and whispered, "So, is that the only thing that's gonna be "magic" later on~?"

He made a noise halfway between a squeak and a groan. He didn't even know he could produce such a sound. "if you're not the death of me first.." He tucked away his charm. "how do you do that anyway?"

Sunny smiled mischievously while batting her eyes. "Do what~?" She acted innocently. Playing the long road.

"one, flirt so damn well and two, you know what i'm talking about."

She smirked. "I have NO IDEA what you mean~. You...~" she linked her fingers with his phalanges while rubbing softly on his leg bone with her foot. "Have to be more.... SPECIFIC~." She purred while showing her unique blue eyes with her charming smile.

His cheeks were turning cyan, yes again, and his pupil shrank. She was getting too hot to handle and he didn't know if he wanted to think anymore, or just act on instinct.

Sunny giggled. She didn't know whether to forget about the book and the damn Mafia and just steal him for herself. "On a more serious level, I'm glad to have met you again, Nightmare." She said sweetly and genuinely as she interlaced her fingers tighter with his.

He held tightly to hers as well. "i'm glad to have found you.. if i hadn't seen this flier, i would have taken longer." He admitted as he slipped the flier, he assumed was from Lux Furem, on the table.

She paled slightly. 'Shit! That's how he knew! But, at least he doesn't think it's me. Speaking of which...' Sunny reached in her shirt and pulled out a small envelope that, to Nightmare, looked like it was from her chest area. And slid it towards him on the table.

"what's this, another gift?" He asked, grabbing the envelope.

Sunny gave him a cheeky smile. "No, but the gift I wanna give you requires wedding bells and something called a honeymoon~" she winked.

He quirked a brow, actually curious. "is that a human tradition?"
