Ciroz is Millar has recruited his new teammate Sam G. Powell, for the three to go get the ultimate power to defeat all the monsters is to bring humanity back to its former glory and peace. Ciroz hopes that the plan will work, but he’s afraid it won’t end any better than they did with the last plan.
“I hope they can find a way to solve our problems! Otherwise we’ll be stuck here forever!”
“Me too,” agreed the young man named Ciroz who had joined their party only a few weeks earlier. “I really hope they succeed. At least we won’t have to endure this anymore…”
The three teenagers walked in silence until they reached the village and began to look around for some shops selling basic supplies and food. After a while they found one selling all kinds of food, mainly bread and meat, and they picked up some bread, a loaf of cheese and some potatoes. While the two teenagers talked about how they would make their purchases, Sam G. Powell watched them carefully, trying to understand what was going through their heads, but he couldn’t figure out the meaning behind their conversation. When they finished buying their food, they left the store and started walking back towards the inn. As soon as they had left the area, Sam G. Powell looked at Milla and grinned sheepishly.
“I am so sorry, miss Milla,” he apologized. “We just don’t know anyone from this country, except for one guy, whose surname is Powell, and it seems like you never met him before...”
Milla smiled warmly and looked over at Ciroz.
“No worries. It looks like he knows his way around the countryside pretty well; he just needs to show us where he lives, so you guys can ask him the way yourself,” she replied, chuckling a bit. “But if you do that, then you’ll need to buy him something too. His father owns most of the stuff you see around you now. I’m guessing the rest belongs to his mother. She works as a seamstress so she usually brings home a lot of fabric from town. So, whenever you guys need something from him, feel free to pay him. You can’t possibly want to let him live on handouts.”
The boys laughed quietly and nodded.
“Ok,” agreed Sam G. Powell.
After spending some more minutes exploring the town, they came to the edge of the forest. A wide path led along the edge of it to a large farm. There were horses tied near it.
“Do you remember the way you got here?” questioned Milla.
Sam G. Powell shook his head.
“No… The way we came from the inn was different…”
Milla frowned.
“Well, maybe someone at the inn will be able to direct us then,” she answered with uncertainty.
She turned towards Sam G., who was walking close behind her.
“Why don’t you talk to him?” she suggested. “Maybe he can point you in the right direction.”
“If I could speak in my native language, you would probably agree with me”, he replied and chuckled softly.
While Sam G. Powell went inside the building next to the main gate, Ciroz stayed outside, watching over their bags while Milla went to talk to a woman, who seemed very busy. After several minutes she returned and smiled apologetically at the young man.
“Unfortunately we lost our guide… He has been sent somewhere else to sell vegetables. We might still manage to find another person if you want to come with us and ask where your friend lived.”
Ciroz shook his head in disbelief, but accepted the offer anyway. The two adults exchanged a meaningful glance before setting off, following the directions their companion had given them. For a couple of hours they made no progress.
