I had only one thing in my mind that would allow me to overcome the power gap between myself and the beast. "The sword..." If it was truly one of the thirteen limbs of God, it's power should be the determining factor to my victory as long as my hypothesis of me being able to access the first step release of the sword without training is correct. Obviously, it would usually be impossible for anyone to accomplish such an absurd task such as this, but my previous experience with these legendary weapons as well as my developed mana control and knowledge should provide me with the indispensable skills to activate at least the first form release. It will help me bridge the gap between the discrepancy with my five year old physique which lacks the development and the years of body tempering arts that propelled my years of combat as Milo Xander.
I flung myself from one branch to another, disregarding my safety and my foot placement on the hazardous, wet surface mushing below me and clinging to my boots. I attempted to cut the journey to my house as much as possible by splitting through the forest along an area where land was vacant and a violent stream ran, flowing and coursing its fizzed water along the streamed area, usually anyway, as upon my arrival, the water spat from the edges and had flooded most of the land and as I was forced to drop to the ground I had to get across.
Whilst I sprinted forwards, I began surging mana through my legs and simultaneously started solidifying the water in a thick block of encased ice that I skated across in a blitz, but around half way through, the powerful tremors roared out from beneath like an avalanche crippling the ice and severing the connection of my bridge to solid ground and sending me into a race against the falling path that will surely collapse below me, tumbling me like hay through desert with the current shackling me with its water casted manacles.
I persistently dashed across, but the speed I gathered thus far would not be enough to relinquish me on land. In a thrilling haze, I jumped from the cascading surface that slipped from my feet, catapulting myself off in a leap of chance that could have me landed in the stream anyway. The lack of power from my weak baby limbs served as a great detriment to me alongside the missing grip to steadily lift off causing me to purely rely on the enhancement of mana around my feeble prison of flesh to arrive.
Slap!
My hand dug itself into the sodden ground with a foul noise that made queer at the sound of it, but I had no time to relax yet, as I instantaneously pulled the rest of my body from the stream.
I collapsed on my back on the other side, but flipped over again seconds after and began sprinting forwards to my house only a couple meters away now. My staggered breathing resounded through the emptiness of the forest that endured the painful lashing of the torrent from the leaking sky.
"So...close. Must keep...going!" I spat from the depths of my exhausted lungs, which raised in my chest heavily like the constant waves at the seaside. My running form had deterred to the point my arms loosely hung at my side swaying in the off-beat rhythm of my stuttering body. My vision blurred at the sigh of the houses door, but I pushed nonetheless, collapsing on the its wooden frame and opening it. The candles were blown out and silence ensued our peaceful shack.
"Mother is asleep. Good, now I must get the sword." I muttered as I creeped up the stairs and collected the blade, which was all too big for me, fastening it to my back and leaving instantly.
I withdrew the sword into my hand, pulling of the hilt slowly, a hint of green emanating from the mulberry blade before fading into a similar mulberry shade. "Lets see, the sword of time, this should be? It for sure isn't the only other blade from the thirteen limbs of God since that would be my previous weapon, the blade of wrath." I slowly built up into a sprint once more with the unsheathed weapon gripped in my right hand at my side this time. "Ok, if I recall correctly, the first release should be..." The blade grew in a mist green and dyed the blade the same emerald glint. "Sword of Time: First release, Time Lag..." The blade extended in front of me, the movement of my arm with the sword mimicking a clocks manoeuvring ticks, that slowly slowed, until my vision delayed around me.
My speed remained constant, but the world around me had slowed severely. Each falling rain drop was clearly illustrated in my perception, and kindly allowed me to diverge past each one without it ever managing to touch me. The light that whistled before the lightning struck, became more pronounced and the actual strike became visible and comprehendible. The actual expenditure of this move was certainly the fatigue and pain that evidently cut away at me. It was the result of my lack of preparation and something I had experienced before in my old life when I used the sword of Wrath, however the pain back then was more distinctly felt.
"With this... I'll arrive on time, Aldir!" The puddle I burst from lagged a few seconds behind me slowly rising before collapsing back into the mud in a anticlimactic splash, as my vision honed on the mental image of my father and the freakish giant.
Not long after, I had covered roughly half the distance to the noise that erupted in a slow deep vibration, assuming it was my fathers and the beasts clash.
"Tch." I winced in pain. The swords ability had strained me quite a bit and was slowly taking its effect on me, its emerald hint slowly decaying to its original mulberry colour that coated the blade.
"Release!" I chanted and swiped my two fingers across the sword. The sword reverted to its original state alongside the technique, the atmosphere around me falling back into the same intense natural oppression that I couldn't just simply doge anymore. The colour dissipated from my corneas and faded into a buzzed black and white.
Damn! Is this the recoil of using the ability? Temporary blindness that affects my eyes for the same time I used the ability due to my imperfect state whilst using the release. This is more like the intense drawbacks I had with my the sword of Wrath!
A smile slipped on my mind and I stopped.
"I need to visualise the terrain in front of me, obviously without the aid of my eyes. I hadn't yet accessed this technique since I hadn't had much necessity for it, but now's the time to activate it. Let's hope it goes well." I slowly built into a jog again, my breath calming itself with heavy, deep breaths that raised my lungs in a rhythmic pattern. The mana rotating throughout my interconnected veins surged through each part of my body, extending great distance as an extension of my senses, building in great colour.
"Feel it. The mana imbued in every lifeform that circulates it as its life source, comprehend it and paint the landscape in its colours." A vivid light burst ahead the static grayscale impending my vision and filled slowly with a terrain outline filled with the colours of the wind, water, earth, lightning and sound mana. All present ambient elemental mana ignited in a beacon of its colours shade guiding me ahead.
"Ughhh! This is so dizzying after a while." I grumbled to myself at my pestering headache that violated my thoughts whilst I began extending my reach further and further, with more precision over each scale and each mile I travelled.
The indescribable feeling felt nostalgic. This technique wasn't only good for those who have impaired vision, but it highly increases sensitivity to all mana particles improving your reactions senses, but also allows you to better evaluate opponents attack patterns by gazing at their blue print as they gather and take shape. It's a great way to dismember someone's attack before its formulated and study others construction process and find faults, strengths and improvements to be made to each conjured spell. Be it amplified physically, casted from a distance, or used in both ways simultaneously, the effects are the same and applies equally. No matter the type of magic combat you utilise, all stand vulnerably before origin sight.
"Woah! It wore off!" I exclaimed before my attention was drawn by something else. "What the-"
