Day in and day out, all I did was sit in a chair and watch as my fellow demon lords fought competitors.
The amount of time apart from Luna has been unbearable.
Just thinking about her was the only escape from an utterly boring and annoying experience.
But when I came back to reality and noticed she was not beside me, anger coursed through me. As I sat in that sullen chair, my hands nearly crushed the armrests whenever I grew tired of the event. That was every day I was present.
Though with such feelings of frustration, comes doubt and regret, wondering why she had such a face while we were sharing a loving moment. Did she not want my child? Was it too soon to ask of such a request? We were sharing a bed that night after all.
Thinking about how the event was just a few more days tied me over. The anticipation to return to her kept me going. All I wanted to do was embrace her. To possibly hear her call my name.

Later that night, all the lords gathered together.
There was food, drinks, and women. Any man without a hint of loyalty or pride would indulge themselves.
I didn’t. I didn’t feel a need.
The others, on the other hand, well, they all seemed to have a good time.
They were together in the room, laughing, stuffing their faces with food as well as women.
Some were riled up, others flat-out drunk.
The women put on seemingly fake smiles and continued to serve them.
I could hear laughter and talk about some of their fights.
I, on the other hand, was out on the balcony overlooking the entire city.
It was a great view, beautiful and lit up, but that wasn’t what I was focused on.
I was lost in thought, thinking about her.
Even though I didn’t partake in the festival happening inside, I did drown my sorrows in wine.
Not enough to lose my senses like the other lords, but just enough to forget I was away from her.
I hunched over the railing. My arms were a pillow.
As if I was asleep, my eyes were closed, hesitant to open to reality without Luna.
Then I felt something, a hand, no two, slowly go up my back.
A body pressed against me and two arms flung around, feeling my chest.
I knew who it might be, though I didn’t want to open my eyes and acknowledge her.
I stood straight and looked toward her.
It was a lustrous woman, a demon, one of the many brought to us lords for, let’s just say, a good time.
This one, in particular, would be a feat for any man to have for a single night.
She started talking with a tempting, sexual voice.
“What’s causing such a strong demon lord like you to brood all alone out here?”
“Huh(sign)”
I responded with an annoyed sigh, and turned away from her, hoping she would leave.
Though it backfired, instead she became more assertive and started to press against my chest.
Her boobs pushed out in a jelly-like fashion, smooshing themselves on my torso.
“Is something bothering you? If you need some help easing your mind, all you have to do is ask.”
“Huh, I don’t need help, especially from someone like you.”
I lightly pushed her off me and moved slightly away.
She stopped for a moment as I went back to the posture on the balcony railing I had before.
“Huh, I don’t know why I even try. But why should I care? I’m still getting paid so.”
Everything about her seemed to change in an instant, not just her tone of voice but her attitude as well. This change was better at gaining my attention than her lustrous persona.
She postured herself much like me and stared off into the distance.
Then when she decided to break the silence she looked at me, without moving her face.
“So, whatcha thinking so hard about? Is something bothering you?.. I’ve seen that expression many a time before, so don’t try playing it off.”
I sent a death stare toward her for a second out of annoyance. Then turned my eyes back to the view and closed them.
She put on a smile and looked off into the distance once more.
“Sigh, that annoyed look of yours isn’t an answer. If you aren’t going to use real words then I’ll have to guess what’s bothering you.”
She started giving out-of-the-blue answers, I shot a few glances toward her and she did the same. Then after a minute of silence, she uttered the correct answer.
“Is it perhaps something to have to do with a woman?”
I stood up and started walking to the noise-filled room.
“It does, but it has nothing to do with you.”
She turned and bent her back against the rail. She turned and looked at the scene of the city.
“Of course, it doesn’t, but that still doesn’t mean you can’t tell me. It’s not like we’ll ever see each other again. So what’s the harm in spilling your sorrow for me to hear? Plus, I want to know what woman would cause a demon lord to overlook a woman like me.”
I reluctantly walked back to the railing, the cup of wine in my hand, and took a sip.
“Fine, you’re lucky my cups still full. So what exactly would you like to hear.?”
“Oh, so nice of you to indulge me. You can just tell me why she’s weighing so heavily on your mind. I’ve never seen a demon dwell so much over a single woman.”
I looked her way and a breath exited my nose almost as if I was about to laugh, a slight smirk appeared on my face.
“Oh, is that a smile? Now I want to know what made this stone crack.”
I put my hand up, letting it cover my mouth.
“It’s nothing, just when I think about the men you come across, I doubt any of them are worried about a woman other than how much she costs.”
She looked at me with a straight unmoved face and then let out a sarcastic laugh.
“EHaha.”
From her expression, I could tell it wasn’t funny to her.
“Come on. Spill the tea. I might be insightful.”
I turned back to look out at the city.
“There’s a girl back home who… I just miss her.”
“Aww, that’s so delectable. I wish I had a man like that..”
She leaned in and smiled.
“But that’s not all is it..?”
“If you promise not to tell anyone, then I’ll give you some more details.”
“Can I at least tell the other girls at the Pleasure Palace? Gossip is one of the only pleasures we get.
“If you don’t mention any details about who told you, then I might.”
She nodded. I reluctantly continued.
“I asked her to be my wife and have my children but she, she didn’t seem pleased by the request, even though I know she wants the same.”
“Aww, what woman would be dumb enough to reject such a great opportunity? You must have thought of a reason why though.? A woman doesn’t just give up the chance to have such luxury.”
My hand put the cup down and my head fell to my arm on the rail.
“The only thing I can think about is how she looked. She had a face as though she wanted to say yes, but I don’t know. A demon can never understand what goes on inside a human's mind.”
“A human..?”
I turned my head up and covered my mouth.
“Shit, I shouldn’t have mentioned it.”
“No, it’s alright. I won’t tell that part to anyone, but you must understand the pressure you’re putting on her.”
“What do you mean.?”
She poked my head.
“Think about it. That girl is a human, and you are a Demon Lord. Do you think that’s normal? Most of our kind would see that as heresy.”
I could almost put together what she was saying. The rowdiness of the others inside could be heard quite clearly on the balcony. They weren’t going to settle down any time soon. I looked at her and spoke.
“Alright, thanks for your thoughts. I’ll be taking my leave now. I can’t think out here.”
She turned slightly to watch me leave. She had a smile on her face and spoke.
“Well, thanks for the enthusiastic conversation. Let’s have another sometime, maybe you can tell me more about that girl.”
