SIDE STORY III: House of Grindelwald

SIDE STORY III: House of Grindelwald

Nov 11, 2022

Years passed. Ainzel Glatteis di Frost met his fate one day while adventuring on the Forest of Elves.

"Elizah, you say?"
"Yes indeed, I am one of the elves on this forest. We are bound by our homes and should not leave no matter the cost for it may end the life of this woodland," Elizah answered.

Elizah is an elf, her skin is of the shade of birch lightly kissed by the sun and enhanced by the subtle blush elves naturally have on their cheeks and nose. Standing albeit short, she possess a very long, curly, fiery red hair similar to her peers. Wearing a green tunic, and a harp on her left hand, she jumps around from trees to trees and singing with the birds while leading Ainzel the way out of the woodlands.

The Green Woodlands, literal name for what it is and what it had been for millenia, is a big sea of different trees and creatures that never seen the outside world. The animalia that lives inside this jungle are those that are both wild and gentle, a pure ecological niche on its own. Different species of plants and trees are found only in this woodland, and they grow very tall as if it is trying to reach the skies. It is an absolute maze inside the woodlands and anyone who hasn't passed the test of the elves will never be able to leave.

"How about you try to see the outside world and leave with me?" Ainzel asked.
"Oxymoron! Didn't you hear what I just say? My peers might follow me and it might end the life of the woodlands."
"We will sneak out during the night, or better yet, let's get permission from the Forest Mother."

Ainzel kept putting thoughts in her head. When he first met Elizah she was merely an elf wanting to test a traveler like Ainzel himself, but after witnessing her wits and refreshing outlook towards life, she started to feel like a breathe of fresh air for him. He doesn't know what this budding feeling is, but all he knows is that he cannot leave this woodland without her.

Elizah, however, felt excited and anxious about the thought. "Is the outside world beautiful? What lies beyond this forest? Will I ever see something else aside from trees?" It was everything she could think of, and whenever she notices Ainzel's features, she thinks that everything outside may be this beautiful. Her cheeks started to feel warm at his gaze.

Although both cannot understand what this feeling is, they both know that they cannot be separated by any means.

As they are nearing the exit, Elizah started to bid her farewell to this young man she will never meet again.
"Until the moon forever shrouds the sun, until the deserts start to produce water, until the crows turn white, let us not see each other again," her own words stung her heart.

Ainzel finds this unacceptable. He cannot turn away from her face nor he cannot leave. Not understanding what his words meant at first, he yelled, "Oh Hail ye, Queen Mother of the Green Woodlands! Please spare thy magnificent daughter of your anger and let us leave the forest in peace; I shall pay the price for I know this is a steep agreement."

The winds blew hard, yet gentle, strong yet calming; and in their presence, the Queen appeared.
"Take my daughter in one condition; marry her, young man, and care for her being. When you shall bear a child, and your child bears another, and for generations to come, they will all be bound to each tree in this forest. They may be far away from this salient woodlands, but their spirits will keep us alive. Each offspring you bear will possess the power of light, and in exchange, I shall take away your whole ability to become a dragon. You will never again be seen as one, for your offsprings will become a face of a half elf and a half dragon, the face of light and darkness. Your kin will be the beginning and the end and forever shall your clan bear this weight."

"Name your house after me, Grindelwald, as a seal to this agreement."
