His heart was pounding in his chest. The lump in his throat getting worse, feeling his airways get blocked as he took short and panicked breaths.
“Tubbo, I’m sorry I didn’t know.” Jack’s panicked voice said to him. Tubbo looked up at him with a crazed look in his eyes, grabbing Jack by his shirt and pulling him down to his height.
“Of course you didn’t fucking know! How could you!? I never fucking told you about this nuke!” He yelled in his face pushing Jack back making the older stumble.
“Tommy’s all alone on the prison with, with those fucking physcos! We need to go and help him right now.” His voice was shaky yet stern.
Jack was frozen in place, his hands shaking giving Tubbo a distant look but he couldn’t waste another second down here. He needed to help Tommy. He grabbed Jack by the wrist and started pulling him out of the launching room but the man started to resist and pull away from him. Shouting with panic in voice that they would be safer down here and that they would survive down here. But what was survival if everyone they knew would be dead anyway? His thoughts flash with the idea of his passed husband and still living child. He took a shaky breath and took out his communicator and messaged Phil.
Tell Michael I love him and that I’m so sorry.
The response was immediate.
What do you mean you’re sorry?
Sorry about what?
Tubbo
Please answer me
“Tubbo! We could go and run and we’d be alive. Why are we going to the prison to help Tommy!?” Jack finally got out of his grip and yelled at him.
“Jack! Everyone is going to fucking die. The least we can do, no, the least YOU can do is help me kill Dream and Punz with Tommy. This is all your fault Jack.”
They finally reached the latter out of there and Tubbo looked up into the night sky knowing that this would be the last time he’d ever see the stars again.
“Papa! Lights! Lights!” Tubbo smiled and giggled at the 3 year old getting excited over the stars. He scooped up the small boy and nuzzled the boy's face giving him sweet kisses of affection on his face. The child let out a shrieking laugh and tried to wriggle his way out of his hold.
“Papa! Down, down!” Michael finally got out of his hold and ran to the door trying to open it. When the door opened he was a bit shocked that he could actually open it until he heard the snorts of excitement from Michael.
“Dad!” Tubbo let out a breath of, well he didn’t really know. He watched as Ranboo walked in picking up the small boy and placing a kiss on his forehead.
“What were you doing at the door Michael?” Ranboo questioned looking up at Tubbo with such soft eyes that he felt all the tension from his own body leave.
“Lights!” The small zombie piglin pointed outside , the door still opened and his finger was pointed towards the stars. Tubbo walked over to them and rubbed the boy’s back and smiled.
“We were about to go outside and see the stars. We do it when you aren’t here.”
Ranboo tilted his head in confusion.
“Why when I’m not here?”
Tubbo looked up at them and patted their arm.
“I told Michael when he’s missing you, we can go and look at the stars and you would be looking up at the same ones.”
Michael was nuzzled into Ran’s chest, his small arms wrapped around his neck.
A weak “Lights.” came from the boy. They both smiled at him and walked outside. Michael squirmed and he was put down. He ran towards the bench Tubbo had set up for them and sat on it and just looked up. The stars reflecting in his eye and a face of awe no matter how much he’s seen the outside.
They sat down on either side of the boy and looked up.
“No matter where we are Michael.” Tubbo looked down and picked him up and sat him on his lap. “We’ll always be looking up at the same stars and I’ll always think of you Michael.”
There he and Jack stood in front of the prison. The looming darkness sent shivers up his spine. He took one last look at the communicator and a picture of Michael trying to make a heart and looking at the stars. A voice message attached to it
“I love you too Papa! Looking at lights with Phil! They’re so bright tonight.”
He shoved the communicator into his pocket and led Jack into the prison. They try to find their way to Tommy, they really do try. But the moment they end up in the room with a Lava drawbridge Tubbo can feel it's over. They’re all dead. He won’t get to die next to his brother or his son. Just the person who got them into this mess.
Jack scrambles to find any way they could leave and just get out of there alive. Tubbo pulls out the bench that Tommy had let him take from his inventory and sets it down. He sat down and watched Jack’s franticness.
“Jack, just come sit down with me.” Jack turned to look over at him, tears in his eyes, body shaking as he shook his head no and mumbling to himself.
“There has to be something we can do!”
He sighed and let the blaring sounds of the alarm ring through his ears.
He looked down at the ring on his finger and smiled weakly.
“Death to us part, I guess. See you soon Boo.” He whispered to himself.
“Tubbo-”
The world went white.
Tubbo groaned as he sat up. The wind blowing softly and the grass beneath his fingers.
“Where the fuck am I?” He whispered to himself softly. Standing up albeit dizzy and nauseous he scanned the area only to see a boy about his age and a guy in green.
“Who’s that guy with cheese hair?”
