"Good. Your mom told me earlier that your mom had another panic attack while she was in the hospital and I'm sorry baby girl. I know how hard that can be. I'm sure she'll be okay." Her dad told her and he patted her shoulder comfortingly.

"We'll see what happens when she sees my husband." Lauren responded and her dad laughed and they talked a little more about the subject while the cook served them their meals.

After finishing eating, Lauren's dad took their dishes to the sink and he washed them in silence. Lauren was looking through her phone to see if there was anything interesting on there. While she was doing that, her dad called their mom to ask her a couple of questions, but she didn't pick up.

"What do you think she's doing at home?" He asked her and Lauren shrugged her shoulders.

"She probably has a lot of things on her mind." Lauren said.

Her mom didn't pick up the second time her dad tried calling and so he left the bathroom and joined her in her bedroom. He sat next to her on her bed and she continued scrolling through Instagram while he sat beside her silently. After awhile she glanced sideways at him and he looked like he was thinking about something.

"Why aren't you sleeping?" She asked him, trying to distract him from whatever was bothering him.

He glanced at her and smiled weakly. "I guess I'm thinking about something else instead." He responded quietly.

When she looked at him again, she realized that he was already staring at her intensely. Before she could process her thoughts any further, he kissed her passionately causing her eyes to widen with surprise and she closed her eyes.

While kissing her he moved his hands under her shirt slowly caressing her back and the heat in his touch ignited her body and she shivered from his touch. Then he stopped suddenly and broke the kiss and he looked at her intently waiting for a reaction from her. She stared back at him nervously and her heart was beating rapidly inside her chest.

"Your mom doesn't have to stay late with her patients." He muttered.

Chapter 13

Lauren opened her eyes and looked at her clock. It read six am and she groaned loudly and covered her face with her blanket.

"Go back to sleep honey. Mom will be home really soon." Her dad whispered.

She sighed and kept lying on her bed and she heard her dad moving around in the kitchen. She rolled over in her bed and she looked at her phone lying by her side.

It's Monday morning... Lauren groaned inwardly as she remembered that the day started at five and she needed to be awake early or else she couldn't catch her bus. She got up, washed her face and brushed her teeth and finally after thirty minutes of brushing her teeth she was done and she started getting dressed.

As she was pulling on some black jeans and a red tee shirt, she looked through her closet trying to find the right outfit. Finally she settled on wearing blue jeans and her favorite white long sleeve shirt along with her vans and she decided not to put make up on today so she wasn't surprised when she walked downstairs to find her parents standing in front of the fridge, having their breakfast.

"Morning mom. Good morning Dad." She smiled and headed for the kitchen to grab some cereals.
