"That's all I wanted. I just want you to be happy mom." She replied as she wiped tears from her cheeks.
Her dad pulled her into a warm hug and kissed her cheek. "Everything will be fine baby. You will heal and we're going to work together on your recovery."
The next day, Lauren and Alex went to the mall to visit a new bookstore in the area that she loved. It was her favourite store ever and it was filled with books of different sizes and genres that she could enjoy reading all day long.
Alex and Lauren found a nice spot to sit down and they ordered two coffees and sat on their bench, taking sips from their cup while enjoying their leisure time. The sun shone brightly and its warmth warmed their cold skin. They were sitting so close to each other and it wasn't necessary as their legs touched each other every now and then.
Their conversation flowed easily and they enjoyed spending time with each other and they shared some laughs about the things that happened during the week. They both felt very relaxed with each other and that somehow felt so right and natural. Their laughter became contagious and within ten minutes, half the stores in town were laughing too and some people looked at the two weirdos and smiled.
"Maybe you should wear a hat next time." Alex joked and Lauren smirked at his comment.
He laughed again and shook his head. "Well maybe then we would look cooler." Alex grinned as he took another sip from his drink and Lauren smiled. They finished their coffee and headed back to Lauren's house. As they arrived at Lauren's house Alex leaned over and pecked her lips softly. She closed the distance between them once more and wrapped her arms around his neck and held onto him tightly, wanting to keep as much of him closer to her.
"We'll take off as soon as possible alright?" Alex whispered into her ear and she nodded her head as he released her from his embrace.
Once they entered the room Alex took her hand in his and led her upstairs and towards her room. There weren't any lights on and she could barely see anything in her room except for what looked to be a light coming from somewhere behind her curtains.
She turned around to look at him and asked him what was wrong. He simply shrugged his shoulders and she turned back around and started walking towards her closet.
"What are you doing?" He asked confused and she pulled one of the many hoodies and shorts out of the drawer and threw them at him, hitting him in the stomach with her elbow. He stumbled backwards and landed on his butt on the floor and Lauren just smirked at him. He glared at her but stood up nevertheless.
She was now fully clothed and he was looking at her with an eyebrow raised. He crossed his arms in front of his chest and stared at her expectantly.
"What? I'm already late." Lauren said and Alex scoffed.
"What about the coffee? You know you can't go anywhere until you buy yourself some caffeine." He said and Lauren rolled her eyes.
"I already had a big breakfast, okay? I'm good." She replied and started walking to the door of her room.
