they were looking at. He stepped out of the car and walked up to them curiously, trying not to get involved in whatever was happening.
A boy, a few years older than him, holding a football, was running towards the girl who was lying unconscious on the ground. A paramedic was standing behind her trying to stop the bleeding whilst two teachers rushed over to where he was. He knelt down beside the girl and examined her body which was covered in bruises.
"Call 9-1-1." The teacher instructed the paramedic as he placed pressure on her side.
"Is she gonna be okay?" Alex asked worriedly as he looked back at the teacher. He turned to him and offered him a small smile, trying his best not to cry from fear and concern for this poor girl.
"She might have internal bleeding or even broken ribs. Just try not to freak out." The teacher explained. "I don't want her to feel pressured when she wakes up and you might be the cause of it." He added and Alex looked at the teacher. He nodded in understanding before focusing back on the girl he had come to know as his little sister.
The girl who he came to know as his little sister slowly opened her eyes, feeling like she couldn't open them wide enough without burning herself. Everything was spinning and she felt so weak and drained of all energy as she tried to raise her hands to push away the pain and nausea that were building up inside her. Her breathing became uneven as she attempted to fight off a panic attack and she couldn't help but think about the last thing she remembered.
"Lauren?! Lauren can you hear me?!" Someone called out and she heard footsteps approaching her slowly. A man appeared in front of her, crouching down beside her and she blinked a couple times to regain some clarity. She saw brown eyes boring into hers and she suddenly panicked, trying to push herself upwards but the person who was talking to her stopped her. She let out a whimper as tears formed in her eyes and she felt horrible.
"Shhh... it's alright. Take a deep breath. In, out. That's it... you're alright. You're safe." The man spoke calmly and gently, rubbing small circles on her back as she finally calmed down enough to breathe normally and listen to what the other person was saying.
She took a shaky deep breath and looked around her surroundings. Her gaze fell onto a young man who was sitting opposite her, staring intently into her eyes. She frowned and furrowed her eyebrows, her memories of what happened earlier came rushing back to her mind and she looked at the man in confusion.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" She asked softly.
His expression changed from gentle to angry in a matter of seconds as his brows creased and he gave her a cold stare.
"Are you going to explain everything to me or not?" He asked her irritated and Lauren nodded and wiped her tears before speaking again.
"Yes. Well, it's a long story..." She began before pausing briefly to take another deep breath to steady her nerves.
"I'll start from the beginning. I'm Lauren. My name is Lauren Hartley. I'm 18 years old. I live at the same dormitory my family and I share with Alex and his friends. As you probably figured out already, we are twins. We met a month ago... and now we are dating." She said.
