Scratch’s head hurts. A lot. They don't think it’s from the battle with the lizard king, and those thoughts are reinforced as their vision gets foggy. Through the mist, he sees a little tabaxi child. His heart wrenches as he recognizes the little one as Candle, his love. Candle had died in a fire, along with Scratch’s father and family. But seeing this image now of the little Candle brought a tear to his bright eyes. As they strained their eyes further to see Candle up close, black smoke surrounds his field of vision. The village fire. He sees Candle, oh Candle, their sweet love, start to panic. He reaches his light brown paw to help, but looking down in horror, he has become the evil sorcerer. He hears soft singing in the distance, and happily remembers the voice to be his mother’s. Rushing through the fire and smoke, his heart breaks to see Candle screaming and running away. He needs to get to his mother, so he keeps running. And he finally finds her, bound in a cave with guards surrounding her. They bow to him, and he hates the look of pure fear in their mother’s eyes. A voice echoes from above as the scene freezes. It sounds...misty. He sees a wisp of light fluttering around him. “You love Candle, don’t you, little one? I know how to bring him back...you just need to acquire the Five Light-Gems for me.” The vision abruptly ends, and Scratch is thrown back into the midst of the battle.
Bug was dizzy. They were fighting some two-headed dogs. She had taken a lot of damage, and was starting to give in. But - she had to keep going! For Loki! Loki! Loki...she fell unconscious, a word of prayer to Loki escaping her lips. She awoke, groaning as she sat up. But she wasn’t in the cave...where *was* she? She saw green and gold smoke, and a smile crept across her face. She knew these colors. She stood, looking at her surroundings. It was a palace of some sorts, with pillars and a throne the like. The most important thing was who was on the throne. It was definitely a god, but they had on a robe of silk and cotton, covering their face. Looking down at her own body, she was amazed. She had her own set of robes, carefully crafted to fit her tiny body. As she looked around in awe, she saw a figure with long black hair. He had on a green cape, with gold accents. Could it be..? Yes! She dropped to her knees, bowing to the god of trickery. But, strangely enough, Loki didn’t notice. Instead, he looked disappointed. “But, father--” he begged. “You know I deserve the throne. Please, father! I deserve it! My brother has done nothing to stop the sisters…”
“Enough, Loki. Thor has the true right to the throne. How many times do I have to tell you, child? You are not fit for the throne. Unless you can find a way to prove it to me that you are worthy, you can not have the throne.”
“Oh, i’ll prove it, alright. I’ll prove it…” Loki turned to the still kneeling Bug. He seemed...misty? Sitting down next to Bug, he picked up her chin. She blushed. “Little girl,” he says. “You will help me acquire the throne. But...I’ll need more power to overthrow my brother. Would you get me the Five Light-Gems from the sisters? If so, maybe I could award you with a...a *gift*.” Bug couldn't believe this. He had...had *noticed* her? She was willing to do anything for Loki. She slowly awoke to the party gathered around her.
Lathsma saw Zin looking at a cave wall, and Mafleur was chatting with the tied up elf lady. She heard something about a band and a party, but nothing about treasure. She sighed. She honestly just wanted treasure. When she walked over to see what Zin was looking at, she noticed that it was a flyer for a big event.

Mafleur awakes. Her vision is foggy, and there’s something out there, almost...calling to her. It’s very bright, whatever it is. A ghostly finger strokes her cheek, and she wields her berserker axe. As she’s defensively holding it up, she hears a voice. It feels like the axe is talking to her...like it really knows her. Laughing off the creepy voice, she plunges into a detailed story about the castle years. Something in the back of her mind reminded her of when she used to get bullied. Shivering at the memory, she then thinks of the last day of school, the day she had all of that power.
flashback time yay
Mafleur stormed through the halls of her school. Spotting her soon-to-be-ex bullies, she grinned. They saw her, and tried to get out of the school. Mafleur stopped in front of the six warriors, bending over. Wings unfurled from her back, ripping through the school uniform. The wings were feathery, some smoking with flames. They were obviously phoenix wings. As she rose from the ground, the people below bowed in fear. Her outfit flashed, turning into a yellow and red striped dress. She had yelled out, challenging anyone to a fight. She remembered not much else, only that she was knocked to the ground. A light flew to her heart, piercing a speck of evil deep into Mafleur’s heart. Later, after her expulsion, she had pushed all the memories deep into the back of her mind. She had forgotten about these things.
oh no flashback over
The little voice in her axe resumed. “You do have power, darling. Just let yourself embrace it. You’ll win, for I’ve made you to be perfect. One of your companions, the little green one, she knows where the gems are kept. Get one of them for me, would you, hun? That way I know you are on my side. Don’t worry about it, if I get them before my sister does, we can both rule the land together. How does that sound? ‘Mafleur, the Mistress of Air and Fire, and the Mistress of Light, queens of Arkoria.’ Oh, don’t be so surprised. How else could you be a phoenix?” The Mistress of Light says. Waving her hand to prove her point, Mafleur popped into a phoenix’s body. Giving Mafleur scritches, the Mistress of Light sat beside her. “You can’t fight it. It is you. To prove to me that you really are ready, steal a gem and a life. That life must be an innocent’s. Either your friends, or that town. See?” she pointed to a town, in the middle of the path to KAT. “And - do not tell your friends what we are doing. If you do, I’ll just exclude you from my ruling.”
Mafleur awakes, in her own sleeping bag this time. Rolling onto her back, she feels two bumps on her shoulder blades . When it was her turn to do the night watch, she stretched and was scared when her wings unfurled. So, that wasn’t a dream. (Mafleur now has a flying speed of 30 ft.)
