It is mysterious symbol that engraved on items, structure or even living being.
The symbol will give power to its host, based on what the symbol is.
The power of a rune is very vast and chaotic, no one will know the full extend of a rune power.
For example: Gauntlets of Aslan is an ancient rune item, which give its owner permanent enhanced strength. But people only know that, after 200 years of using, that it drain the strength of all family members into its owner. That's why the family usually have many weak members and only 1 strong member (who is the owner of the gauntlets).
There's also no rule of which symbol will produce which power. 2 similar symbols may give 2 totally different power.
So the knowledge of a rune power is very secret, families who own rune items will not reveal it, they may reveal the surface power, but not the deep one.
Ancient rune items are items that made long time ago, even longer than Mastorios kingdom.
A rune item's power can be very bad (cursed) or very great (legendary), but most fall into the "average" category like all things should be.
