It was a good morning. Swimming, walking, Mrs. Smith talked Greer into a hot stone massage. Lunch was filled with embarrassing Greer stories and questions about the boys and what they wanted to do with their lives. Her parents seemed fairly satisfied with the answers. By mid afternoon the two had to go. Or so they claimed but the way they were clinging to each other, like young lovers on a honeymoon... Greer watched as they left. "They are gonna stop at a cheap motel I know it.... well did you guys wanna stick around any longer or should we head back too?"
"Hmm... Is there anything you wanted to check out or try now that your parents aren't around?"
"....I saw apples in a tree. I wanna go climb and grab some."
"And you didn't do that while your parents were around, why?"
"Did you wanna see me and Ma get into a fight? Cause I mean if you do I'll do that shit and then you can see how I go off."
"But why would that start a fight?"
"Because I'm not 10, this is a nice visit, for god's sake can't I be an adult for five minutes, somewhere in there would be yelling that I should get the really good apples so she can make pie later, there would possibly be discussion of taking over an oven here so she could... the fight would continue into there and would derail into us yelling while making the pie and the conversation/argument going into anything else either of us have issues with." She had been counting everything off on her fingers. "I figure.... least hour and a half argument."
"... If you're going to get into an argument that long anyways, you might as well actually get the good stuff deeper in the woods..."
"This is what you are signing up for with me. There is a reason government people can't deal with her. Some parents practice martial arts or baseball with their kids. We practice yelling and arguments that can pull up shit from 10 years ago while in a full rage. The technique of getting Ma flustered so she can't talk straight? It doesn't work cause her brain will pull up all sorts of things she remembers being said." She started walking into the woods. "There is one other thing I want to do too."
"Oh...?"
"I want to hear when Dewi realized he had a thing for me and how he told you about it." She smiled. "Cause I'm betting Blake's version is more complicated with the timetravel and all."
"And we've decided that conversation should happen at the spa? Alright, if I'm going to be telling the story here anyways, might as well make the most of it... Let's grab your apples or anything else you might want to drink or munch on, and then we're going to go relax in Dewi's favorite spot here."
"I want it to happen near nature. I didn't realize how itchy I felt being in the city till I got here. We could literally decide we were camping here for the night and I would be incredibly happy." She walked with them, gathering edible plants and such before following Dewi.
"Hmm... Hear that, Dew? Our princess has spoken.... The shack still stocked with overnight stuff?" Dewi nods.
".....I love you both so much."
"The feeling is quite mutual..." Blake suddenly moves some branches to reveal a clearing.
Greer walked in and looked around. "It's so beautiful... no wonder you miss this place when you go to college Dewi. I'm surprised you don't shortcut here everyday..."
"It's hard not to sometimes. I once told you that the Spa was my source, but more specifically, this is it. The presence of nature magic is strongest here so I've always come here when life gets too hard or I just want to be away from it all... Being away from it always makes me appreciate it more..."
Soon as they got to where they were going to be settled. Greer got herself sorted between the two of them, leaning more on Dewi right now. After all, if she was making him share she could at least cuddle him while doing it.
"...I think I first noticed with a smirk. Something was there before that, but it was the first sign I noticed... You took my question as a challenge and dared me to be worthy of an answer. There was a freedom and joy in your movements that you had obviously been suppressing and I started to want to see that side of you more. So I started paying more attention... You know, my hair’s color is the hardest thing for me to have control over, there can be these unconscious shifts in color and tone. And the more I watch you, the more often my hair starts reacting... Of course I feel guilty because there's no doubt that I'm devoted to Blake. I would never leave him for someone else... But you make me feel the same way... And I can't stop thinking about that smile when you realized I could keep up with you.... So one day, Blake sees my hair turn red for what must have been the hundredth time and he pulls me aside and is like 'we both know what's going on, but I want you to verbalize it so we can properly talk about it.' So I tell him about how you make me feel and how I'm pretty sure I have this massive crush, but it doesn't mean I have any intention of leaving him. And Blake's just like 'Duh, I'm not going to leave you for her either. Since we both like her, let's totally date her if she's interested in that thing... Even if she isn't, there shouldn't be any harm in admiring her together.' And that's how liking you became something else we had in common. Some of our dates included talking about adorable things you'd do or how good you looked earlier that day. And we took bets on how long until you'd realize that we were both trying to subtly flirt with you, no future knowledge allowed..."
Greer was blushing and cuddling up some more. "Well...for me I kinda noticed Dewi first ‘cause of the race. I realized I thought you were really sexy the way you were focused on the race, trying to catch up. But I figured you guys were older than me, who'd wanna date a freshman. And I also figured... you two were goofballs so I wasn't in danger of like... getting distracted. I like focus and competence... the kind where the world disappears from you... then you and Blake were working in the living room. Had to stay up to get my studying done." She looked over at Blake. "I only had the guts to say anything at all because of Luce. But I was too nervous to notice anything you two were doing."
"We'd figured out you didn't realize... It was easy to pick up on the fact that Bee is an extension of you and your desires. One that doesn't run the risk of accidentally passing our powers onto you. Why do you think we were showing her so much affection and attention all the time? Never said it was directed towards her, but you never caught on..."
Greer pulled part of Dewi's jacket over her fact. "Ok I'm kinda slow with stuff... and I am nowhere near as hot as you two can be and.... I didn't see what chance I had. I was so stuck in my head about picking one of you or trying to date both of you I missed you two were dating."
"Yeah, but you'd probably have given up on us if you'd known... Knowing you, your brain would have gone 'they have each other so why would they want me?' and Luce's tiny confidence boost wouldn't have been enough to say anything. I'm kind of glad you weren't as observant when we first met."
"You don't try to break people up you know...? It's just wrong." She closed her eyes. "Maybe one day I'll get what you two see in a gear brained muscle head like me. I get too nervous to even do proper make outs..."
Dewi smirks. "You definitely get past that at some point.... Confidence is a really good look on you. Until then, though, it's okay to be nervous and take some things slow... You'll get there eventually so there's no need to rush it."
Greer nods, making no motion to come out of the jacket. "...It's warm in here. I'm gonna stay in here now. Sorry Guys. No more of my face now."
"Aw... but it's such a lovely face... Guess I'm going to have to deal with only seeing Dewi's attractive features... while you're hiding in there... not able to see either of us... including Dew's very kissable lips... that you are already so close to..." Blake's voice and presence had steadily gotten closer as he talked, until Greer was practically wedged between them.
Greer felt like she was going to explode now. She was flustered, she didn't know how to handle this.... and she ended up tangling her leg with Blakes and suddenly pulled him a bit closer. "Well... do it then. Unless you're scared I'll feel you up." Where the FUCK did that come from I don't know! Just go with it! Don't back down now! ....at this rate I am going to regret not bringing protection.
"Maybe I'm hoping you will..." His voice is suddenly right next to her ear.
The side effect, her brain had now shut down and her voice seemed to no longer function.
Surprised? Yes. Unwanted or upset about her response? Definitely not. "So that's how to make you be honest about things... What a surprising and helpful discovery..."
She blinked her brain fighting over how to take that. She was shy! But they knew that. It wasn’t an insult. It felt like one! They don’t think she lies. She fell somewhere between the two extremes and removed her hand, but didn’t say anything. She was trying to process.
A small grumpy voice came out after a few moments. “Never said I didn’t wanna fuck you. Just.... wanna go slow... and not sure how it’d work....”
"Never said I thought you didn't... But you have trouble being selfish so it's nice to see you can be... Given the right push."
He could tell she was nodding. “I just don’t want much.... having you guys is amazing. If anything I should be doing more for you guys.”
Blake pulls back slightly. "Greer Maria Smith, our precious girlfriend. You let us be with you like this and that is enough for now. When we get to the point for more is when we get to doing more. And before we get there, what you already do is more than enough for us. I'm sorry if any of our actions make you feel like you need to do more or go faster..."
"I want to go faster... and you guys aren't putting pressure I just... want to it's just... not ready I guess..." She slowly came out. "I'm gonna miss you during the break..."
"Oh? Are you planning to cut contact during the break?"
"Well no but once I get to my place.... it's gonna be crazy."
"So not a lot of time for us..."
"I will be lucky if my phone isn't stolen from me by the second day. I want you to imagine 3 streets worth of family, 30 cousins plus 1/3 of them having spouses and kids.... and no locks on any house and everyone going in everywhere."
"Well... we could talk in person if you want to slip away for a bit during break... All you'd need is your own talisman. It's about time you get one to our special room anyways... We can plan a time or even set up a code word to send when we want to see each other..."
"That... would be really nice. Is Sato cool with making me one?"
"You mean like this one...?" Blake pulls one out from his stack. "He made if this morning before we left and we were just trying to figure out the right time to give it to you."
She carefully took it. "... Dammit I don't have anything to give you guys..."
"Use it to see us and it will be more than worth it to us. What we want most is to spend time with you so your time is what you can give us..."
She smiled. "Well... I'm gonna come up with something anyway. So let me." She leaned against Blake and smiled to Dewi. "Was the look on his face worth it?"
"Quite... I wish you could have seen it. Pretty sure most of his collected side went towards his voice because his words were a lot more put together than his expression..."
She grinned at Blake. "Well.... it's my turn next time then."
"I warned you that you might miss out on seeing things if you hid in Dewi's jacket...."
"But Dewi has known you longer and got to see an expression he's been dying to see an expression like that for a bit mister smooth talker." She giggled a bit. "I can wait..."
"It wasn't an only one person's allowed to see at a time kind of thing... Though I really don't have any complains as long as you're both happy. I look forward to your future attempts to cause said desired expression again as I don't plan on making it easy."
She grabbed an apple and started eating, looking at the sky. "That's Fine. I like a challenge."
"For some reason, I'm not surprised..." Blake passively looks up as well. "What do you two say we set up for tonight now so we don't have to do it later? Then we can use the rest of the day to relax or cuddle or whatever else we want..."
"Alright." She stretched and went to set up.
