A sudden chill enveloped her. Iola’s mind and body felt numb and the sound of her own heartbeat resonated like crashing waves inside her head.

She stared ahead blankly, into Dacia’s cold grey eyes. Not a hint of mischief did she see there and that terrified her even more.

She quickly closed her eyes and let her mind go. The colours and sounds of everyone in the room swirled all around her.

Hues and shades of every kind and the cacophony of the gathering’s thoughts invaded her as much as she invaded them.

Iola was never prepared for this. Not from Dacia. She didn’t quite understand what the new Queen meant by falling in love with her.

They hardly had anything in common, nor did either show any emotion other than concern for each other’s wellbeing before.

There was that one night of course, a night of pure bliss and magic. But neither of them spoke of that much, and other than relieving each other’s stress that night there wasn’t really anything to take home from that incident.

So what was Dacia up to now? Iola had to know. She gritted her teeth and focused hard. Dacia’s mind had to be one of the many swathes of colour circling all around her.

She had to find it, and take control.
