For the past few days after the incident that had happened, sleep has been something that Sage has lacked. If he is lucky, he might have gotten at least three hours of sleep that night, and that is only if Dominic is by his side. He kind of feels bad that he has been keeping Dominic up just because he can’t sleep, but after a while, he forced Dominic to take naps while he is going over his scripts, telling Dominic that he will wake him up if he needs anything.
Although Dominic has yet to say a word to Sage, he took Sage’s orders and has been taking naps but will stay up with Sage at night whether he wants it or not. Sage hates to say that he has gotten used to Dominic being here even if that meant not talking to him.
Sage has a feeling that Dominic probably can talk, but there is a reason why he doesn’t. Sage wishes that he would, feeling like they could have a lot of good conversations if Dominic chose to, but Dominic seems comfortable with staying silent, and reading a book. It also doesn’t help that Dominic is very much eye-candy and he wants nothing more than to jump Dominic at times, and want him to touch him which is nothing like Sage is used to feeling this way.
The past few nights when Sage is able to sleep, he ends up having wet dreams about Dominic, and they leave him waking up with soiled underwear which is embarrassing. Thankfully Sage doesn’t sleep with Dominic in the room with him because he is not so sure of what would happen next. Who knows what he could be doing or saying while he is asleep, and he doesn’t need Dominic quitting on him already.
“I have another shoot to get to.” Sage tells Dominic even though he won’t get a response, “I really don’t want to go but it’s about time that I get back to it. I don’t need this bastard ruining my entire life, and he’s not everything that I need to worry about. I will just have to be careful.”
Dominic, still wearing his mask, looks at Sage now, a weird look in his eyes that isn’t the usual mask that he normally wears. For a split second, Sage believes that Dominic is worried about him, but he can’t be sure about that. Sage sighs, shaking his head and turning away, grabbing his things that he would need to take to the shoot with him. It doesn’t take him long to gather everything since he normally does all of his work in one spot.
“Let’s go.” He tells Dominic, putting the bag strap over his shoulder.
Dominic and Sage leave the apartment, Sage nervously looking around as they go but not seeing anything out of place. Dominic has his hand firmly on Sage’s shoulder, looking around and being the bodyguard that he needs to be.
Sage smiles softly at his weird thoughts, knowing that this is just Dominic’s job. Once the stalker is gone, Sage won’t need to have one anymore or Dominic might not even want to stay at all. Sage really wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t want to stay here after all of this bullcrap.
Sage doesn’t want Dominic to get hurt, that’s the thing that he worries about the most. This stalker is after Sage, that’s it, but with Dominic here, he is being put in the middle of Sage and the stalker. Sage knows he needs a bodyguard, but he doesn’t want someone to get hurt because of him.
Especially someone like Dominic.
“I hope today doesn’t take very long.” Sage tells Dominic, nervously biting on his bottom lip, “honestly, I’m thinking about finding somewhere else to live now that I am making a steady income. What do you think? Maybe find a place with a better security in place that way nobody can just walk in without a card, and that way I can get this stalker situation under control.”
Sage thought that Dominic wouldn’t even acknowledge him, but he is surprised when Dominic actually nods to what Sage is saying. Feeling a little pleased that he is getting somewhere with Dominic, he gets on his phone and starts looking at apartment listings that his manager had sent him the other day.
This is the only way he might be able to start sleeping at night. He knows that he needs a fresh start, some place where he knows that he will be safe and not have to worry about someone breaking into his house like last time.
He has to do something before it is too late.
The day is going by slowly, and Sage’s lack of sleep is really getting to him, and he doesn’t know what to do. He keeps messing up during the shoots, saying the wrong things or even doing something he wasn’t supposed to or not at the right time. Director Hans is extremely worried about Sage.
“Let’s take an hour break!” Director Hans announces, seeing that Sage looks like he is about to collapse at any second, “get some food, rest, whatever you need.”
Sage stumbles his way over to where Dominic is at, practically collapsing on the bench beside him. Sage sighs deeply, feeling like his eyes are extremely heavy and he could just fall asleep at any second.
“Can I use your shoulder for a headrest?” Sage asks him, feeling a little embarrassed, “I just need a little nap.”
He thought that Dominic would say no, but Dominic doesn’t do or say anything, training his eyes straight ahead. Since he hadn’t gotten an answer yet, he decides that it would just be okay and he rests his head on Dominic’s shoulder, feeling like he is going to collapse at any second.
Within seconds, he is passed out.
Dominic glances down, seeing that Sage is now asleep, his pink lips slightly parted and his eyelashes brushing against his upper cheeks, moving every now and then and making Dominic wonder what this actor could be dreaming about. Carefully as he sees Sage trembling due to the cold, he grabs his jacket that he had discarded beside himself and drapes it over Sage, knowing that it’s not the best thing but it can help him out for now. Dominic makes a mental note to start bringing a blanket for Sage to use.
Dominic is very aware of people staring at them, knowing who Sage is, and he glares at them, causing them to quickly look away and scurry off, not wanting to face Dominic’s wrath.
He just wants Sage to finally sleep.
An hour later, Sage wakes up, his eyes fluttering open as he tries to clear his vision, trying to not think about anything else. He carefully sits up, and that’s when he notices that Dominic’s jacket rests on top of him, maybe having tried to keep him warm. Sage blushes slightly, looking up to see Dominic is looking in the other direction, trying to be as careful as possible.
Wow, he does this when I’m asleep, Sage thinks to himself, trying to ignore his pounding heart that is happy, he is so sweet.
“Thank you.” Sage tells him just as his phone goes off.
Frowning, Sage pulls out his phone and sees that his manager, George Ross, is calling him. Pressing the green button, he brings the phone up to his ear.
“Manager Ross.” Sage greets him, thinking that nothing is wrong, “how are you?”
“Are you trying to get into a scandal already?” Manager Ross scolds him, confusing Sage momentarily, “I understand that you are new to this and everything, but in the public eye, you need to be careful about what you do and how you project yourself to the public. This is your only warning, don’t do it again or I will have no choice but to get you a different bodyguard.”
Frowning, Sage doesn’t know what to say as Manager Ross hangs up the phone. Opening up google, he sees that his name is in the trending box, and as he opens the article, he is baffled to see a picture of him sleeping against Dominic’s shoulder blown up in his face.
“Nearly debuted actor, Sage Carter, getting mighty cozy with his bodyguard of unknown origins. Lover, or just a bodyguard?”
