Emerald (Merissa’s World)
The streets were bustling with creatures of different races. People were going about their usual businesses. It was a normal busy day for the people of city Locis. Everyone was engrossed in their work except for one person or rather a demon, Damian Marley, the manager of the ‘Marley Central Bank’ was sitting in his private office tapping his pen mindlessly on his desk. The business was booming but he was bored out of his mind sitting here all day and doing paper work.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door.
"Come in." Marley said.
"Your lunch is here Mr. Marley; would you like the olem's (food dish for creatures of different races) skin peeled?"
"Olem?! Olleemmss again!! damn that chef serving me olem's as if I am some low-level demon. Tell that cook that he is fired!!"
"Sir... miss Marley had specially appointed him to see to your... food routine concerning your health." the pantry boy said trying to sound as little offensive as he can. He was just a little demon passing a message and doing pantry service for a living. But seeing the great demon Marley's foul mood he just wanted to keep his life in check.
"Damn that woman! not only am I going to get old sitting here on my demon a*s all day but I am also going to have to die of hunger."
"You" Marley said pointing at the scared boy.
"Go and bring me some hot boar's meat from the ne—
*Boom* *Kaboom* *Blast*
Before Marley could finish speaking sounds of series of explosions could be heard. A purplish crystal on his desk started glowing and projected a medium size hologram of a demon. "Manager... sir we are under attack someone is attempting to get into vault A-52.
*Boom* *Thud*
The hologram was disrupted from explosions and then it came back online. "Sir we need backup immediately...he is..." the hologram shut down and the crystal stopped glowing thereby signifying the end of call.
"No, no! damn hell!!"
Marley took the crystal in his hand and chanted a few words and a hologram of another demon appeared on it. "Barren what's the situation?"
"Not good sir a thief has appeared and has somehow stolen the stone! We are in pursuit but he will soon reach the top underground floor. We are assuming that he must be aiming to use the smoke stack and get out at the chimney, we can corner him there, he won't be able to get past the defensive domain."
"No, you guys try to stop him even before that, if he can get in so deep inside the bank then he must also have a way to bypass the domain. Charge after him I'll be there soon."
"Yes sir!"
The crystal then again stopped glowing.
"Rrraaaarhhh"
Damian let out a loud scream as a violet mana surrounded him and a wave emanated from his body by which the pantry boy almost went flying back into a nearby wall. His wings and tail came out from his long black robe covering his entire body. He stood at a height of 7 feet with two horns coming out of his head in a curved shape. He had flaring red skin. His body was like a human having all features of a human except they were rough.
Breaking his window glass, he lunged out and soared into the air towards the terrace of the building.
Damian reached the chimney as fast as he could and waited for the thief to come out of it.
*Boom*
A big hole was pierced through the terrace and the thief came out of it destroying the chimney in the process. He stopped at the sight of Damian. The burglar was taken aback seeing the great demon before him. The purplish black sky made the demon look even more terrifying.
"The great demon Damian Marley- The ferocious demon of all time. I heard only legends of you of your time in war but seeing the demon in flesh is quite the marvel." The thief said while trying to look for an opening to run. He was surrounded by Barren Convo's unit, the strongest unit under Damian Marley's command.
'Damn what is that damn goblin doing! I need to buy some time before he deactivates the domain.' The thief internalized as he focused on Damian.
"Enough with the pleasantries! you think you can get away with robbery under my watch, think again." Damian snarled.
"Well, I'll have to say I never thought of stealing this in your presence. As a matter of fact, I thought you were on leave today."
"Well then it's a good thing, that I felt like coming to work today rather than sitting at home."
Damian was now preparing a blackish-violet colored sphere of mana in his hand.
'Shit he is serious, that thing will completely obliterate me.'
"We can talk this over, what's the big hurry?" the thief said, taking two steps back trying to buy as much time as possible.
"Oh, we will talk don't you worry about it. Just wanted to make sure you are well served before that." Damian said with a wide devilish grin on his face.
However, before anything happened a beeping sound came in everyone's ears. A magic domain type shield covering the entire area of the bank had become visible. But just a second later it blinked a few times and vanished.
'Took that idiot long enough! now's my chance.'
Seeing that everyone's focus was shifted, the thief removed a small cubic crystal. While everyone was surprised Damian’s focus went back again to the thief.
"No!" Damian screamed as he fired the black sphere at him.
The thief crushed the cubic crystal and smoke started gushing out of it, spreading to a large area and covered all the demons and Damian within it.
The thief then flew out of the smoke in top speed. He took out another cubic crystal and chanted some words. Suddenly the space in front of him distorted and a dimensional gate appeared. However just as the thief was about to pass through it, Damian caught up to him. Trying to grab the thief, they both fell in the dimensional gate.
"Commander! Commander! the thief has gotten away." One of the troop soldiers of Barren said clearing away the smoke.
"I know so has manager Marley. He must have gone after him. I sense dimensional magic. They must have gone through a dimensional gate. Check whether the building's safe and get me on a call with the Council. We have a major problem here." Barron said as he looked at the slightly distorted space where the dimensional gate was opened mending itself.
