Really Truck-Kun, Please Stop!

Not Your Average Everyday Man (Ep 1)

Not Your Average Everyday Man (Ep 1)

Dec 03, 2022

I hate this. This job has always been an exhaustive challenge but factoring in annoying customers has always made it even worse. I dodged the incoming fire of chunks of food mixed with the saliva of some corporate jerk who’s been chewing me out for the last few minutes about how unsatisfied he was with the service of the convenience store I work in, dragging on about how those with real jobs have had tiring days and deserve it. What a piece of work. He ended by saying my name like a preschooler after inspecting my name tag, he bellowed “Don Rose!” While doing so, he shoved his long, rickety finger into my face. Finally, he seemed satisfied and stormed out leaving the items he purchased. Truly, a shame.

My eyes drifted away from the man trudging to his car and to the fluorescent road packed with automobiles. Car lights were periodically blinking as if even the cars were sleepy, their bright shining lit up the dark night and the scene resembled a concert with fans holding up their phones and far away cars looked like glow bugs with their faint glimmer. Compared to the lively street, outside of the store was dead. Still. The buzz of a fly was like an announcement over a microphone. All of these things happened in the night but for me, during the day and night, nothing ever did.

It was my decision to not go to college and I fought my parents for days on end but why did I regret that everyday?

The only reason was that my friends were always busy during the day and out partying during the night. On the weekends, they were swamped with work. Or so they said.

Later, as I was getting to close up a run down truck skidded on the parking outside and jolted into a spot. A tall figure in a ragged cloak crept out and just stood there…without any movement. The lights for the parking outside went out but I knew it was getting closer, I could feel the pitter patter of its footsteps. The next moment, it was before me like a skyscraper next to a house. It looked down and inspected my shaking body.

“This one lacks any will to live. T, do your thing.” It ordered and the truck’s lights switched on and its wheels spun as if it were giddy and it blasted off in the direction of the store.

Why?

Closer and closer it got, the light revealed that the figure was a woman with shining purple eyes and spiny ears twirling like the branches of a tree.

What could she b-...
