Time flew by and it was the weekend. Blair's first week was entirely uneventful besides her first day where she encountered her long lost “best friend” Ava. She thought that she would have cursed her out on the spot or left entirely, but Blair had seen the way Ava had looked at her and gave in momentarily to let Ava once again occupy a little piece of her heart. Now Blair had another present issue to deal with: “the date” or what she assumed was a date. She shook those thoughts from her head and tried to just focus on picking out a presentable outfit for the day.
“Damn, I really have no fucking clothes for this sort of thing, and I have no idea where we’re even going."
She looked at her closet and saw her dark wardrobe and thought that if she wore anything here, she would clash with the stunning Olivia. Olivia was big, tall, and striking to look at. Not in a bad way though, she was hot and unique with her vitiligo that made her the center of attention everywhere she went.
“Shit, what am I even thinking about right now?” Blair exasperated by her own thoughts focused in on trying to be presentable. So, she picked something in a hurry and was off to the car waiting for her outside. To her surprise there were people around the car. It was Olivia’s adoring fans all huddled around her like a pack of sardines.
“Oh Hey! Little Lady! Over here!” said Olivia boomingly over the clamor of voices around her.
“Well, that’s who I’m here for. Can you guys move over so she can get to the car?” Olivia said while the crowd parted like the red sea and the path was clear.
Blair was embarressed with all the attention focused on her. It was like she was walking down the red carpet for all to bear witness and all eyes to critique her very soul. She put up with the stares - albeit uncomfortably - and moved toward Olivia who put her arm around her to led her toward the car. If Ava was a princess than no doubt Olivia was the prince. She was charismatic, charming, and offered smiles to the crowd around us.
“Ok, everyone. I’ll be off. Wish me luck with this one” Olivia said waving like royalty.
“Well shall we be off now little lady?”
Blair was not used to this treatment and blushed inadvertently which caught her off gurard.
“Let’s just go ok?” Blair said hurryingly as she moved into the car.
“Alright, I have a lot planned for today so let’s go.”
They both got into the car and made way for the mystery destination that Olivia had picked to start off the day. Blair thought to comment on the crowd hoarding her and her popularity around campus.
“So, you seem popular, and you hang around Ava. I guess you’re a cheerleader to?”
“Well, well, you do know how to speak and yes, I’m more of there muscle then pretty face though.” Olivia said while flexing her arm.
Blair chuckled and rolled her eyes at her. This was a breath of fresh air and she was comfortable around her, talking seemed natural.
“And you? You seem to know Ava, but with how you interacted with her you seem to be on less than sociable terms. I never thought I’d see the day when someone spoke to the princess that way, well besides me of course.”
“Yeah…we knew each other awhile back. It was just coincidence that we met here. Honestly, I never wanted to see her again, but here we are now.”
“Well todays all about you and me so let’s forget about her all right?”
“To be honest I don’t get why you’d want to hang out with me. We seem worlds apart and not very like one another.”
“Yeah? And what if I said I was interested in you little lady?” grinned Olivia
Blair seemed more than suspicious at this sudden declaration and no more than ignored her outright. If Olivia was interested, she was flattered, but didn’t want anything serious right now and wanted to just relax today.
“Let’s just see how today goes yeah. I barely even know you and you’re a friend of Ava’s, so I’ve already deducted points for that.”
Olivia chuckled and said: “Me and Ava have history, but right now we’re more like rivals than anything else."
“Oh. Well glad to know she moved on while I continue to carry her bullshit with me.”
Blair remained in silence for the rest of the way and Olivia made a mental note that anything having to do with Ava is off limits for now. Olivia pulled out her phone and texted ominously to Ava what she’d accidentally.
“Sorry Ava. Made you look bad. She’s mad. oops.”
Meanwhile at the dorms where Ava is she receives a notification on her phone and checks it.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me. Our relationship is bad enough as it is and now Olivia is fucking me over. And wait. Are they together right now ?!?”
Ava in a hurry texts Olivia if they’re together right now and Olivia only replies with a winking emoji. Ava was now certain the universe was against her.
By this time Blair and Olivia were at there first stop in today’s adventure was a bubble tea shop. She liked bubble tea, like a lot, but how did Olivia know? Is she some type of mind reader? She didn’t want it to show on her face, but she was pretty happy.
“Wondering how I knew you like bubble tea?” Olivia said with that killer smile of hers
“Wha- No-“ Blair said flustered at her thoughts being so easily read
“Its ok. It’s the charm on your bag. Its cute by the way, never pegged you to like something like that”
Ok. Now Blair was super embarrassed. She forgot the stupid charm her parents got her and out of necessity had it on her bag.
“Yeah, I like things like this sometimes. Got a problem with that?”
“No, no problem lets go before the line gets to long”
They both entered the boba shop and ordered their drinks. Preferring to walk around they visited the shops around the area that peaked their interests. To Blairs surprise Olivia wasn’t all that pushy and let the flows of there steps take them wherever. Almost like where they were going was secondary and the time, they were spending together mattered more than some place or venue. As they were walking around, they ended up at a movie theater. Olivia pulled out of her pocket two tickets for the allotted time and just like she planned this as perfectly as she could beckoned her to follow her so they could be in time for the movie.
“You got this all planned out huh? I get why your so popular Ms. Playboy.”
“Ill take that as a compliment little lady, now let’s get a move on. I still got more planned for the day after this so enjoy to your hearts content.” Saying Olivia as she ruffled Blairs hair and walked through the entrance.
They both enjoyed the movie. It was franchise Blair really enjoyed and now was contemplating if Olivia really could read minds as they walked back to the car.
“So? Enjoy the movie?”
“Yeah, I did actually how do you know I enjoy that series?” said a serious faced Blair.
“Lucky guess? I picked this thinking it would suit your tastes off your vibe, and I guess I was right, as always” Olivia said grinning with complete confidence
“Oh, come off it dumbass, but I’ll have to give you your credit for this though”
“Heh, naturally. But this isn’t our last stop though. I’ve got dinner lined up to too round off the day”
Blair was honestly overwhelmed. Never in her life had anyone given enough of shit to please her on this level. Well not since the good old days, but it’s been a long time since she’s felt this wanted by another party. She tried so hard to build walls, harden herself and her heart so she didn’t have to go through any of the hardships that went with letting others into her life. She didn’t mind this feeling if not just for a little bit longer, she’ll tear apart some of her walls to enjoy this day fully.
“Your expressions brightened up their little lady. I was worried at first if I pushed too hard and too fast to soon (no pun intended), but I’m glad you seem to be enjoying yourself.”
“I really am Olivia and thanks by the way. I know I can be kind of a pain in the ass I get it, but I appreciate you doing this. Your still not funny though” Blair said finally laughing for the first time with a softened expression.
“No problem. It was me that offered and just call me liv. I think I deserve that after today’s success?’
“The days not over yet OLIVIA, but we’ll see.”
The day continued into the evening, and they were at the restaurant that Olivia had picked. Good food and conversation it felt like she was in a dream. Or in of those fairytales that never seemed to be realistic in the eyes of a younger Blair who had given up on the concept of people entirely. To be honest she was a very picky eater and would always complain when going out to eat with her family. But right now, none of it seemed to matter and she finally understood somewhat that it was never about the food, but about the company they shared. The conversation flowed and time flowed. Blair had to use the restroom and left for a short while, but when she came out to find someone sitting down where she had sat, chatting up Olivia like they were supposed to be there. She quickly reverted to her old self and felt her head swimming with thoughts. She thought she was stupid enough to believe this time would be any different and that she was special. She wanted and needed to leave. She had no ride home, so she went outside for a smoke to clear her head. She texted Olivia she was outside and to finish up dinner without her.
Olivia thought it odd that Blair was taking so long and recognized an old buddy of hers. She did want to say hello, but they had plopped there ass right where Blair was supposed to be. She didn’t want to make this a big and deal and tried to hurry the conversation along so they would be gone by the time Blair came back. And that is when she got the text and how she knew she fucked up. The day was going so well, and this asshole had to ruin it. She grew annoyed and didn’t even offer a goodbye to her friend and left to search for Blair. She stepped outside and quickly found Blair smoking and quiet just standing on the corner.
“Hey Blair! What was that all about? We didn’t even get to finish dinner. I was just waiting for you till you got back.” She decided not to mention what was bothering Blair outright as to not anger any further.
“Just needed a smoke, clear my head” Blair stared blankly off into the distance
“Blair……I know why you’re out here and I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to do anything to you. We were having such a great time. Why would I mess that up. Especially not to you. Let’s talk more in the car, okay? I promise it isn’t what you think.”
“Alright...”
They moved to the car in silence. Blair didn’t mean to sour the mood, but she couldn’t help but feel this way at her own insecurities and weakness. It took a lot for her to take this leap of faith and just one incident made everything crumble. She felt she could cry at any moment.
“Blair, that was just my old classmate from high school. They didn’t mean anything to me, and I shouldn’t have let them sit down. I could guess what you were thinking about if you saw something like that, but I promise it wasn’t that. I would never ever do something like that and especially not to you.”
“So, all of this wasn’t a lie? You’re not just fucking with me? Or playing with me to pass the time?” Clair on the verge of tears said.
“No, I promise I’m serious. Ever since I first laid eyes on you at that classroom. This was supposed to be the first step to hopefully you letting me into your life. I kind of royally messed it up though and just at the end to.” Olivia said laughing with a crestfallen face and a sad smile.
“No, no you didn’t mess it up I did. I’m sorry. When I just saw the two of you, you looked almost perfect together. Almost like I didn’t fit together with you, like I didn’t belong. You’re the first person in a while to be this nice with me and I just didn’t want to be fake. So, I decided to run like I always from my problems.”
“Blair, if you weren’t the one I wanted I wouldn’t have called out to you that day and I never would’ve put in the effort to do all this. For me, you’re special Blair. If I didn’t make that apparent enough to you tonight. Ill make sure it gets through to you.”
By the time they finished talking they ended up back in front of the dorms. Olivia decided to walk Blair to her room just for good measure and noticed Blair’s mood had significantly improved. With the crisis averted she thought to herself all and all that this day was a success. They arrived at Blair’s room, and she started to move slower until they stopped just shy of the door.
“So? Does this mean I get another shot at seeing you sunshine?”
Blair blushed at this sudden turn of embarrassing nickname. It did not fit her at all with how dreary she was.
Blair averted Olivia’s gaze and said “Don’t call me that little lady was embarrassing enough, but now sunshine? It doesn’t even fit me with how I am”
“Oh? I thought it fit you perfectly do you know bright you shine when you truly smile or when you laugh?”
“Alright already I get it Olivia” said Blair embarrassed to her very core and still looking at the floor.
“Eyes up here sunshine and its liv now remember?” Olivia said tilting Blairs chin up so she would look at her.”
“Ok……. Liv”
“That’s better. I’ll be seeing you later sunshine, goodnight”
Blair didn’t bother to respond as her brain ceased to function for the rest of the night and decided she needed some rest after all the excitement.
