No I don't know what I want
You got it, you got it
Some kind of magic
Hypnotic, hypnotic
-I Caught Myself by Paramore
When it came closer to his next class starting, Nine walked Quin to his car. "Quin." Nine stopped Quin from entering his car.
"Hmm?" Quin paused.
Nine pulled Quin in close, kissing him goodbye. As their lips moved against each other, Nine could not help but wonder why it did not feel good like before. Trying to recreate that old flame, he pushed closer, slipping his tongue between Quin's lips.
But, before the kiss could deepen, Quin pulled back, covering Nine's mouth with his hand. "We are in public, Nine."
Nine pushed back on his heels, moving his head from Quin's covering hand. "Is it wrong to want to kiss my boyfriend? Plus, there is no one around."
"A simple peck is fine," Quin shut down, "you have class; you should hurry there." Quin entered his car with a short wave to Nine before closing the door. It wasn't long until he drove away with Nine still standing in his spot.
He watched Quin drive away with a sigh, his fingers touching his lips, pushing down on them. Even though they were not cold, they felt that way with the kiss between him and Quin.
The coldness represented their relationship too well.
God, Nine wanted to feel some fire again. The same type of fire he felt that night with Vee. His body still couldn't stop burning from that night. And no matter how much he tries to stop the flames while telling himself how wrong he is, Nine can't.
His fingers slid from his lips to his neck, caressing it, remembering the hands that had his body hotter than the safari heat.
"Any lower, and people would start whispering about you." A voice commented in Nine's ear.
Nine jumped, quickly turning around, grabbing his chest as his heart wildly beat. "What the hell?" Nine cursed, feeling like his life shortened right there.
Vee laughed, trying to cover his mouth with his hand but failing with each giggle slipping through the cracks of his fingers. "Haha, did I scare you?"
"Why are you here? Don't you have classes to teach?" Nine tried changing the subject, holding back an angry pout. I will never admit that he did scare me; I can still feel my heart jumping.
Coughing, Vee finally started to calm down. He cleared his throat, "I still have time before my next class starts."
"You did not answer my first question."
"Oh, I went to my car to get something and saw you and your cute boyfriend. I had to come over when I saw you start to touch yourself. Who were you thinking about, him or me?"
Nine held back a blush from Vee's last question, crossing his arms instead, "Your car is in the visitor's parking lot? Yeah, I don't believe you. Did you follow me?"
Vee smirked, pulling out his car keys as he hit a button on them. Instantly, a car started going off. Once he heard the alarm, Nine heart jumped again as he reached for Vee's keys.
"Turn that off; what if others hear?"
"Why? Is it scarier than touching yourself in the parking lot?" Vee teased, raising his arm so that Nine couldn't get his car keys. His car continued to beep, causing Nine to grow more embarrassed.
He jumped, reaching for the keys again, stepping into Vee's space. "I was not touching myself," Nine argued, "now, turn the alarm off. I believe you, okay!"
"Oh no," Vee laughed, grabbing Nine's waist, closing the remaining gap between them, "if I get a kiss as an apology, I will turn off the alarm."
"No!" Nine quickly responded, still trying to reach the keys. He would not kiss Vee no matter what.
"Then, I guess you want other people to come over and see us like this, huh?"
Okay, scratch his last statement. It is only one kiss, and Vee never gave a specific spot he should kiss. So, it is free game, right?
Nine kissed Vee's cheek, "There. Now, turn off the alarm before people come."
Vee turned off the alarm, making the parking lot silent again. He looked down at Nine, his eyes falling toward his lips before moving up. "That is not the kiss I wanted, but I will let it pass."
Nine made the mistake of looking back at Vee's tempting eyes, "I don't owe you any type of kiss." His words came out like a whisper.
"You don't, but what if I want any type you're willing to give," Vee responded, his tone matching Nine.
They stood there, getting lost in each other as Vee's hand slid down Nine's waist. Feeling the movement broke Nine's concentration, taking him back to reality.
He removed Vee's hand and put space between them. Nine ignored the goosebumps and shivers coursing through him.
This is the feeling I crave, Nine thought to himself, feeling the heat hit him.
But, the feeling is with the wrong one.
"I will give you nothing because what we did will never happen again." Nine set his foot down, forcing himself to believe his words. There should be nothing between them.
Vee hummed, stepping closer, touching Nine's cheek, caressing it. Nine shivered, his eyes closing from the touch as he felt his breath quiver. His whole body felt like it would combust from a simple touch.
"You say that," Vee mapped out Nine's reactions, "but you cannot help but crave me."
Nine quickly opened his eyes and grabbed Vee's hand, pulling it off but unconsciously not letting go, "I-"
Vee entered his space again, their lips hanging close, almost touching. It would only take a simple push for their lips to touch. And knowing that drove every word Nine wanted to say away.
Instead, Nine could only say, "I-I have class."
"Then, let me go," Vee spoke about the hand holding his.
It took a few seconds of Nine's eyes watching Vee's lips move with each word before they registered in his brain.
He glanced down, seeing that he was still holding Vee's hand. He quickly pulled his hand back, holding it close to his chest before saying, "I am going."
Nine walked off, not once looking back because he feared that he would lose again. Why are you letting this man take over your mind, Nine? Think about what you already have.
Vee turned around to watch Nine go with a smile. "So close." He thought. Vee touched his lips, imagining the ones he had almost felt earlier.
The school was over for Nine and his friends as he walked out with them. He was leaving with Lee and Cassy when Jon excitedly ran toward them. Jon grabbed Nine, wrapping his arms around him.
"Guess what, guys!" Jon practically screamed.
Nine prayed for his eardrums as he tried pulling Jon off him. But, the man resembled an octopus. "Jon, get off me."
"If you are coming to us to say you got someone's number, we don't care," Cassy answered, hitting it right on the nail.
Jon removed his arms from Nine, who quickly moved closer to Lee, to point at his sister, "You always ruin everything. Why does no one care, huh?"
"We repeatedly heard the same story from you, Jon. We get it. You got another number; it is nothing new." Lee responded instead.
Jon stared in disbelief before he started whining, "Nine."
"No," Nine raised his hands in surrender, "don't put me in this. They have the right to their complaints."
"Then does that mean you want to hear it?" If Jon were a puppy, his ears would be up with a wagging tail. He moved closer to Nine, who put out his arm to create space between them.
"Down, Jon." Nine ensured Jon couldn't hug him again, "And I don't want to hear it either; I am sorry. The same old story can get boring."
Jon's imaginary ears fell down as his tail stilled; he started pouting, "None of you love me."
"We love you." They simultaneously responded like robots on an automated machine.
"Fuck you." Jon continued to pout. He was like a puppy receiving no attention.
Nine almost reached over to pet Jon's head when he felt his phone vibrate. He pulled it out, reading the new message.
Vee: If I said the library's printer is confusing, would you come to help me?
Nine: There are people in the library who can help.
Vee: But I don't want to embarrass myself in front of them.
Nine: So, you would instead do it with me?
Vee: Well, we have already seen each other naked, so there is nothing wrong with embarrassing myself in front of you.
Nine clicked his tongue before biting the inside of his cheek. He knew what his heart wanted to say, but his brain wanted him to write the opposite of that answer.
And all the ones that say your heart always wins are liars.
Nine: Fine, I will be there.
"Hey," Nine called his friends, stopping them in their tracks, "I need to go to the library. I forgot to print my English essay."
"Okay, do you want us to come with you?" Cassy asked.
"No, it is fine. Have a safe trip home." Nine waved them goodbye.
His friends also waved goodbye as Nine ran off.
He cannot believe he let bad decisions take over again.
