Blair stood there and was utterly shocked at what just crossed her mind. Love? Love……She was in love with Olivia? That questioned stewed in her mind for little until her face went red as a tomato. She felt hot and as soon she looked at Olivia, she turned her head in the opposite direction as fast as she could. She didn’t want Olivia to notice, but she definitely didn’t have the courage to look at her with this new revolution she just discovered. Obviously, fate was cruel, and Olivia was on her way back to Blair as she had just finished chewing out the other cheerleaders. She was NOT ready to face her in any compacity whatsoever. She cursed this unlucky timing and thought she just had to tough it out until she could figure out her own emotions.
“Hey there sunshine. You’re looking a little red? You feeling, ok? Olivia in swift fashion bent down and touched her forehead to Blairs to make sure she wasn’t running a fever.
Blair screamed internally at this fast development that was happening before her very eyes. Why were they touching foreheads? What century was this? She honestly thought Olivia might be teasing her but the look on her face said otherwise.
“I-I-I’m ok Liv honestly, all good over here. You calling me sunshine all the time must have made me into the sun hahahahaha.” Blair felt like the part of her brain that affected speech might have just exploded. What the fuck did I just say….turned into the sun? God, she wanted to escape this situation here and hurl in her bathroom.
“Oh….you don’t like me calling you that? I thought it was a pretty cute nickname…..” Olivia said looking like a dejected puppy.
Blair felt like she just fucked up seeing the state Olivia was in and now was going to try to do damage control.
“OF COURSE NOT! Its amazing and I LOVE it, Liv. I-I-I just made a dumb joke. Don’t mind my stupidity.” Blair said trying her hardest to appease the wounded Olivia.
“Alright but let’s get you to your dorm so you can rest, don’t want you dropping dead just yet” said Olivia flashing Blair a classic smile.
“O-O-Ok” Blair said timidly.
Blair didn’t think she could ever get used to these new feelings that had welled up inside her. She couldn’t even look at Olivia for more than 5 seconds without blushing. She thought she was definitely in trouble as they both headed for the dorms so Blair could lie down.
Blair finally reached her room and Olivia left her with a parting hug that froze Blair in place till she was out of her view. After she was gone, she opened her door and plopped down on her bed. Blair was thinking about all the crazy things that have happened these last few days. ‘How could her life turn around so fast?’ she thought. It amazed her how she reunited and reconciled with her long-lost best friend Ava AND fell in love with Olivia. With Olivia on her mind, she thought of her dashing smile, her big muscles, and her beautiful eye-
“Wait-WHAT AM I THINKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW!?!?” Blair was hot and she looked like she could be the sun reincarnated.
She couldn’t believe the thoughts that just crossed her mind and immediately started beating up her pillow in frustration. If that wasn’t startling enough, she received a text in there newly created group chat with a picture of Olivia holding three amusement park tickets.
Blair: huh?
Ava: Amusement Park?
Olivia: Hell yeah! I got three tickets for all of us to go this weekend and relax. So, make sure all your shit is in order. Alright, Bye Sunshine! And princess..
Blair: Ok see you then
Ava: Whatever OLIVIA. Can’t wait to have fun with you Blair!
Now with the plan for this weekend set in stone Blair wondered if everything was going to truly be ok.
The weekend came faster than normal probably due to the special event Olivia lined up for them. Blair was nervous as shit. She had spent a day with Olivia, but now it was both Olivia AND Ava. Blair thought they were both super close friends in the beginning but seeing how they usually are with each other it seems their relationship is more complicated than it seems. Now she has be with both of them for an entire at day at the amusement park.
Olivia was the one driving today and already tried to start something when Ava wanted to sit in the front seat. Ava said if she couldn’t sit there then she wanted to sit with me in the back, but Olivia said:” My car. My rules princess. Now sit your ass in the back.” So, Blair sat in the front and Ava in the back begrudgingly. Blair had a feeling that Olivia just wanted it to be just the two of them today but didn’t want to exclude Ava who just made up with me. Blair had felt that people thought she was dense - with how she acted and her demeanor - in ‘certain aspects’ but really it was the opposite. She knew Olivia had to have SOME type of feelings for her based on her actions as of late. She couldn’t think of another reason why she would go this far for her and was hoping she wasn’t jumping to conclusions to fast.
The day proceeded without a hitch after they entered the park and Olivia immediately dashed for the first ride.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me” Ava said as she looked up to the ride in terror.
“Fuck yes. If you come here, you got to ride a rollercoaster. This is just like peeling a band aid. The quicker we do it the less painful – for you that is – it will be.” Olivia said all smiles while Ava was obviously pissed.”
“It should be ok Ava. If you want, you can ride in the middle so we can support you!” Blair said trying to calm the situation down.
“Ok! Let’s go!” said Ava like a switch had been flipped with Blairs suggestion.
“Fuck, that backfired.” Olivia mumbled as they moved there way to the roller coaster.
They rode and got off the roller coaster. Olivia and Blair were ok, but Ava looked like she was going to barf. Blair noticed this and supported Ava until she was ok to walk again. Ava regretted nothing while she hogged Blairs attention and was happy looking at Olivia’s annoyed face. Olivia on the other hand was starting to regret bringing Ava because nothing was working in her favor.
“You ok their champ?” Olivia said sarcastically while she gave Avas back a slap.
Ava shot a glare over at Olivia as she really did almost puke.
“What the fu- “Ava was cutoff though by Blair’s new sudden interest in something she saw.
“Let’s go over there! I always wanted to try one of those!”
It was a strength machine. Blair had always seen these classic park activities, but never got to do them with, her always having no one to go with – plus she had a hard time with large crowds. Being with Ava and Olivia lessened that burden and she felt she could just do what she wanted without worrying about anything.
Obviously, Olivia took the hammer and swung as hard as she could muster. She easily hit the bell and offered the prize to Blair. This made Blair blush and she took the prize thanking Olivia for it
“T-T-Thanks Liv, that was super cool.” Blair said looking more embarrassed than when she took the prize.
“Its no problem for me sunshine” Olivia said flexing to Blair at what just won her that prize.
Blair realized she was staring for to long and turned away bashfully and scurried off to the next game.
“Showoff” Ava said a little bitterly
“What can I say? Had to get MY sunshine what she wanted.” Olivia said then walked off toward Blair.
Ava thought to what she just said for a minute. My? Why was she talking like Blair was hers? They were both her friends. Ava didn’t understand the need to say that then brushed it off and continued after them. She didn’t want to ruin this for Blair, and she was going to make an effort for the rest of the day to ignore Olivia’s provocations.
They day continued into night and Blair seemed to be having the time of her life. It was a stark contrast to her usual dark and brooding attitude toward everything. When she was with Olivia and Ava, everything seemed to brighten up and gain color again. It was like the world was dyed in greys, but once little drops of Olivia and Ava came into her life slowly it rippled throughout her world - like adding food coloring to water - with bright and warm colors. Blair ran off to get some ice cream she’s been dying for and left the tumultuous duo by themselves.
Now by themselves Olivia and Ava sat in a brooding silence until on of them began to speak.
“You better not get in my way princess. This is my only warning. I don’t care if you guys became friends again, but don’t try for anything more.” Olivia said with ample hostility in her voice.
“Get in your way? Trying for anything more? What the fuck are you taking about Olivia.”
“Don’t act like you don’t know. I like Blair and I’m not letting anyone get in my way not even you.”
“Huh? You like her…. You mean you LIKE her like THAT.” Ava said with a confused expression on her face.
“Why else would I be doing this dipshit. I just invited you because I didn’t want Blair to be sad”
“And what made you think I’m gay? I’m just her friend and I plan to keep it that way. I don’t even deserve to be her friend so I’m ok with this. I’m alright with this…….” Ava said as she trailed off looking at the floor.
Olivia just looked at Ava with pity. It seemed like she was confused and even if she did have any feelings for Blair, it didn’t seem like she would even allow herself the option of being more than a friend.
“But that doesn’t mean I acknowledge you, Olivia. You play with people and their hearts. You’re a narcissist and a self-centered asshole. And I swear to god if you hurt her I’ll make you regret it.”
“Just like you did princess? It seems to me you’re just a hypocrite AND a liar. Did you even know she was about to be bullied again till I stepped in?
Ava looked at Olivia with horror and confusion but ultimately looked away to hide her shame.
“That’s what I thought. If it was you by her side the same shit that happened to her in high school would’ve happened again. You can’t protect her, you never could. So, stay out of my way Ava and stay in your lane. Play the good friend or you’re going to lose her for the second time.”
Blair came back with a plethora of ice cream looking very happy, but Ava sat in silence thinking about there conversation. She couldn’t get over what Olivia said, she was almost bullied again. How? How did she not notice… Maybe she really wasn’t good for her, but the unease in her heart grew and she couldn’t help but be drawn to Blair. And why did Olivia think she liked Blair in that way? Did it really seem like that, enough for her to warn her? She couldn’t even begin to process everything she heard, but if Ava wasn’t good for Blair, she knew damn well that Olivia was worse.
Just like that there fun day at the Amusement Park ended and they all headed back to the dorms. The one who really won in the end was Blair, this was one of the best days she’s ever had in a long while. She was once abandoned and forgotten. She never thought she’d be able to form meaningful relationships again, but here was two people who came into her life abruptly and started to change her for the better.
