Dear mother,
I apologize for writing to you this soon after my last letter (only a day later) and without you having replied. Only, see, I have lied.
The school has not been the same. Mr. Harrington approached me the other day and revealed that he has been thinking of me. He asked me to go for a walk in the Botanical Gardens after school to which I replied negatively. I told him that Father would never allow it. This ended the conversation. And yet, he has been looking at me in ways that should not be allowed, mother. I do not know how to make it stop. He makes me most uncomfortable, to the point where I contemplate foregoing school altogether. The only reason I have not done so already is that I really do not have a legitimate justification for it; I could never tell Father the truth. You understand.
Desperately need your advice,
Your troubled daughter,
Little bear.
