Dear mother,
Your advice may not be needed after all. A mere two days after my last letter to you, Mr. Harrington left the school. The reasons behind his disappearance are altogether a mystery. A new teacher replaced him today, Mr. Spencer. Although he is very old, he seems kind and wise. A much better fit for our little school.
During lunch, I overheard some girls saying that Mr. Harrington had to leave because of his “unseemly conduct.” I think it was very brave of anyone who managed to tell on him. Perhaps it should have been me. You have taught me to be courageous, mother. I hate to disappoint you. For now, I cannot be happier that we do not have to see this person ever again.
Your relieved daughter,
Little bear.
