Durchdenwald

Durchdenwald

Dec 10, 2022

Jim was dead.

The anxious guy who wasn’t used to this type of work, Durchdenwald’s preferred area of the police agency. The police agency he had been in for two years now. He was still only a junior, but he knew that by the time he hit his mid-twenties he’d be a senior.

He hid his impatient smirk, as he sat in the living room with all the other suspects.

The sooner he got out of this dreadful scandal, the sooner he’d be back to working his way up the ranks.

Strawb was leading the meeting, explaining what had happened. Apparenlty, Wim had been at the crime scene..

“Poor kid,” Durchdenwald thought, apathetically. He was starting to get tired of all this;  someone dies, someone finds the body, then a meeting. There were no more working officers left, but still they were doing meetings.

He hated it.

All of them cooped up in the room, acting like everything would be fine, when they never, ever, EVER had evidence.

Except… the more he looked at Strawb; who stood primly in front of everyone, the more he began to believe that maybe this time things were different. She watched calmly as Ava argued with Do-yun.

“Do-yun was piling up with suspicions…”,

“...this was the third body she’d been near to…”

“Her brother could be her accomplice!”

Durchdenwald ignored them, just focusing on Strawb. Her eyes narrowed when Ava rose, most likely to slap the younger Asian girl. Strawb’s hand rose with the woman and the the room went deadly silent when she finally opened her mouth to say ‘Stop’.

The room fell into uproar, before she could speak any further. Ava screamed at her, words flying out of her mouth. ‘Do-yun’ and ‘murderer’ was in most of her shreaks.

.Cado stood up and lunged for the teenager, trying to grab her and pin her down.

Do-yun leapt over one of the couches, away from grabbing hands, and picked up one of the house plants, holding the pot as a weapon towards Cado.

Gila ran out of the room, hiding her face in her hands.

Basil got up and made his way, calmly to where Cado was fighting Do-yun.

Durchdenwald sighed, getting up and brushing imaginary dirt off of his pants. His eyes lingered on Strawb’s frozen figure in the chaos. Her cold green eyes met his and he had to supress a shudder. Then the ice melted away and her eyes were warm. She beckoned him forward, and he stepped towards her, pushing past Ava. She looked him straight in the eye the whole time, even as she whispered to him, “We have evidence. It’s small but it can change everything,” A shadow of a smirk creased her lips. Then she turned and walked out of the room, her blonde hair flowing freely like a halo around her head.

Durchdenwald turned his attention back to the happenings of the room. Cado had a hand around Do-yun’s neck, and she was gasping, limply, for air.

He watched almost in slow motion as her eyes widened, her body stiffened, and she brought her hands up behind the man.

There was a crash as the flower pot cracked on the top of Cado’s head. He was almost bald, his curly hair shaved into a buzz cut, and it did nothing to shield him. Dirt cascaded through the air, and pieces of pot crashed to the floor. He threw Do-yun away from him, and she landed on the floor, gasping for breath. Her brother, who Durchdenwald realised had been hiding behind the couch he’d just got off of, came rushing towards her. Her neck was bruised badly and her eyes were bloodshot as she sucked in air, hungrily.

Cado was on the floor, but there was little blood around him. Do-yun’s blow had been weak, and only a small piece of clay had dug into the top of his head. Basil made to help him, but Cado snapped, and punched him in the face. Basil’s sunglasses fell off his face and his dark eyes were visible for the first time. Durchdenwald saw something in Basil’s eyes he’d never expected to see. Pure anger..

Flowerhest staggered to his feet, and his hands went to his head, making to pull the clay out. “This idiot,” Durchdenwald felt himself say, but he didn’t stop the man, just flopped back in his seat to watch. He knew what was going to happen next.

Basil stopped the man, wrenching his hands away. Cado kicked him in the shins, and Basil slammed his fist into the other black man’s face. Basil was shorter than Cado, who was quite tall, but his presence was intimidating, and his power towered over Cado by miles.

Durchdenwald closed his eyes to the elevated shouting as a full-fledged fight broke out, Ava screaming the loudest, still bothering to say that she’d sue them all for hurting Cado.

Durchdenwald smirked, shaking his head in amusement, and in the chaos, his eyes still closed to it all, he threw back his head and began to laugh.
