In the small sand box on a playground lost in the sands of time and memories, there was a little girl. She was playing all by herself. She had pink hair and pink eyes. A heart shaped symbol in one of those eyes. She was 9 or 10 years old and had some bandages on her arms and legs but was relatively ok. Her mother watched from afar as she played in the sand. The small girl carving out several hundred figures in the sand. She wasn't much of an artist but she was happy. This was kandy of course. A memory she remembered vague but in some detail.
A young boy about the same age made his way over to her. A younger version of kevin. He had a teddy bear he needed for emotional comfort. He saw Kandy from afar and walked over to her. Kevin was lost, very lost, his older brother was looking for him and he didn't know where to go. But something within kevin told him to go over to the little girl, a magnetic attraction viewing her as a safe point. Kevin shyly snuck over but Kandy sensed his presence and with an optimistic smile beckoned him closer.
“Hi friend! Do you want to play with me? I could use a friend to play with right now!”
As much as Kevin wanted to play he shook his head and started to tear up. “I-i…ii uhh…i'm lost..” he told the girl , sitting down in the sand next to her. Kandys happy smile faded briefly before she nodded. Much like the way children often played spies- she had this look that made her think she was on a mission. Taking kevin’s hand on her own, she made her way over to her mother and told her what Kevin said. That he was lost. Kevin then told the young rya that he was looking for his brother and that Kevin mistakenly wandered off and was quite terrified.
Together the three of them spent the day searching for Kevin's brothers, calling “corey! Corey! Kevin's right here!” for some time, luckily it only took them an hour. Corey was talking with officers about his brother when he saw the child in the arms of Rya. stopping the officials mid conversation he ran over to take his brother in his arms and hold him close. The brothers were happily reunited and Kandy and her mother were happy to help.
“Thank you all so much, i was worried sick.”

Kandy sat on the very bench her mother sat on that day. Watching the birds fly by. The same black bird from her school landed at her shoes. Kandy was distracted by the memory so her reaction to the bird was delayed. She saw it and gasped gently. Extending her gentle hand towards it , it perched in her fingers gently. And the two beings found each other staring into one another's eyes. Kandy became rather enthralled by the creature. It cooed and cawed slowly and hypnotically.
“....A-are you trying to tell me something..?” her head tilted slightly as she asked this - chuckling a bait but after saying this , she was starting to believe it. The bird cooed, gently flapping its feathers. Almost as if it did want to say something but it leaned in to nuzzle her chin before flying off.
Kandy looked a bit confused and surprised, wondering what just happened. As she watched the bird fly and fly away, Kevin took his seat next to her. His expression is still love stuck since they last saw each other a few days ago on the last day of school.
The two of them dressed casually and sat a bit nervously. “I uh, hope i didn't keep you waiting.” he placed his hand down in the space between them. Kandy saw this from her peripheral vision and took his hand in hers nice and slowly. “No, I was enjoying the weather. and… Ya know–.. this is actually where we … where we first met.” The lady's voice was reminiscent and nostalgic.
“Yeah i remember like it was yesterday….i was a bit of a crybaby i admit, but i think i've grown up.”
“Me too…me too. Besides nothing wrong with crying..”
Kandy was a bit distracted but wanted to give Kevin her full attention.
“I didnt think youd….accept my confession, i was kinda expecting and revving myself up for a rejection.” he confided in her.
“Well…to be honest, I guess you could say I had these feelings deep down , and did not want to tell you in case I couldn't take the rejection.” and lately kandy hadn't been feeling like herself and had been spending her free time in the past few years watching movies to distract her mental state and reading books and old photo albums.
“So does that mean…that we are that is to say…” kev was a confident guy at almost everything but when it came to kandy. He melted almost every time.
“Yeah.” Her response was a bit quick, but in a positive tone. “Yeah. I think it does. That is, if you want to be.”
Kevin tried to hold back on the excitement otherwise it would come out creepy, but he responded quickly and positively too. “I uh- i kinda really want to.”
“Then -...then we’re a couple. Kevin and kandy. It has a nice ring to it in a way.” Kandy squeezed her paramour's hand a bit and leaned her head on his shoulder.
“hey kandy…”
“Yeah kev?”
“I uh…i just want to say thanks…i was really scared that uh…id end the school year without us having uh…done that..'' he was referring to the light kiss that the two shared. “So thank you for uh..doing that for us…ive never had experiences like this and i was afraid of screwing it up…”
Kandy gave a warm hearted giggle as she leaned in closer, resting her side against his, “well fortunately for you I am a connoisseur of love, so you are very welcome.”
Together they sat there, just watching the passersby in the park. Leaning against one another to just take it all in.
The bird that trailed Kandy flew into a tree and watched from afar. It turned its back to them and fell to the sidewalk. Landed on its tiny feet. As no one was watching, and it was behind the seclusion of the park trees, its avian form shifted itself into a young man. His appearance matched the same of Kandys' idol from the poster her mother got her a few days prior.
He glanced back at Kandy before snapping his fingers and a jacket and sunglasses appearing in his hands.
“I can't believe I actually…i got close to her. It had been so long I was…I was starting to lose hope.” he had a neutral frown but it slowly transformed into a slight smile as he placed on the glasses. “She was right. Oh god…she was right…this means we actually stand a chance of defeating him. “ the anonymous individual walked further and further down the park roads. Silently cheering to himself as he kept going. Pulling out his phone and calling a long distance number that reached into the states. “Uh hey, it's me. Yeah yeah, so uh, plans on, right now. She seems safe and healthy right now, and I think you should do your half of the plan tomorrow. I don't think we’ll have a better moment.”
