"Please be well." A middle-aged man murmured as he walked around a hallway. He had an average height, with a black beard covering his sharp jaw and hawk-like brown eyes that seem to see through anything.
He'd been moving around the hallway for three hours, rubbing his two palms together, as if something significant was happening right now and he was scared.
"Don't worry Father. Mother... will... be... Alright." A small girl said while pausing many times in her word. She had black eyes, short black hair, and a round flushing face that would fit nicely in the adult's cupped hands.
The middle-aged man smiled and patted his daughter on the top of her head.
As the door opened, elderly women dressed in white emerged from the room on the left side of the hallway.
“Nurse practitioners, how is my wife?” With a troubled tone, the middle-aged man asked.
The nurse practitioner lowered her head, finding it difficult to respond to the question.
The middle-aged man rushed inside the room, where he discovered his unconscious wife in the bed. His wife was drenched in sweat, so he held her hand with his shivering hand to check her pulse.
"Lord Falco, Lady Life is not in danger." The nurse practitioner lowered her head, she was little scared.
She added hesitantly "Lord, however, newborn child is born dead."
Falco clenched his fist as this word rang in his ears; he and his wife, Elora both desired a child to carry on their lineage.
As he approached the cradle near the bed, he noticed a newborn child with closed eyes. It didn’t move even inches, if it was a statue. Falco sobbed as he remembered how many times he and his wife had wished to have a child.
They finally succeeded after many years of trying; nonetheless, the outcome was more painful than not having a child.
The little girl at the door, stare at her father. She had always wished, she would have born into this family. Despite the fact that she was adopted, the Bladeluiff family had never mistreated her. They adore her as if she were their own daughter; yet, the same cannot be said for others. The servants of the Bladeluiff family do not regard her as the young miss of this family; they treated her as a regular girl who happened to be just lucky.
The unconscious woman in the bed gradually opened her eyes; she was 20 cm shorter than her husband. She had a snow-white skin tone, blue eyes, and long black hair.
“Dear, how is our child?" Elora asked, she had passed out during giving birth and had no knowledge of her child's condition.
Falco remained mute; he had nothing to say. His wife was already in poor health; therefore he lacked the courage to reveal the truth.
Elora struggled to stand up with her frail physique.
At the same time, Falco calmed his heart and said, "Dear, please rest for now. Let's talk about it later."
He tried to persuade his wife, but how could a mother stop herself when it comes to her child?
Elora saw a silent child in the cradle, she picked her child. This child had the same skin color as her with chubby cheek and black eyes.
She sensed her child wasn't breathing.
“No, it can’t be…...”
“No, it can’t be…...”
“No, it can’t be…...” Elora muttered this word many time, if only this word exist for her.
Falco supported his wife as her leg trembled and she was about to fall.
He had never seen his wife so psychologically weakened; she had always been a mentally strong person who constantly supported him in difficult situations.
He hugged her and said softly, "Don't worry. Perhaps my family can do something."
Elora gazed up at her husband, with hopeful eyes.
“You can leave.” Falco said with a loud voice. The nurse practitioner trembled slightly and walked away.
Elora saw her adopted daughter standing at the door, "Roza, Leave me and your father for a while."
Roza nodded and walked away with her tiny feet.
Falco took the dead child from his wife hand and said “Follow me.”
They made their way to the cellar.
"Greetings, Lord and Lady," the two guards outside the cellar bowed their head.
"Move a side," Falco said, moving his right hand palm, causing a lot of movement in the area. After a few breaths, a blue transparent disc appeared in his right hand palm.
He placed this blue disc that fitted in his palm perfectly at the center of the cellar door.
The cellar door swung open immediately.
Elora tightened her gaze, knowing there was a cellar somewhere in here. She had previously asked her husband about it, but he always tried to evade the topic, so she also stopped asking about the cellar.
"You two stand vigil here till we return. It could be your last day guarding this cellar." As he entered the cellar, Falco said with serious tone.
The guards exchanged puzzled looks; their entire generation had been guarding this cellar, and now their lord stated that it may be their last day.
Inside the cellar had a long, narrow stair with a different drawing layout on each step.
"Follow my every step if you make a single mistake. Many traps will be set." With a solemn tone, Falco addressed her wife.
Elora had never seen such serious face of her husband; therefore she did not disregard her husband's word.
The cellar was like a big cylindrical closed box. They walked for hours to get to the bottom of the cellar. All lamps lifted with the fire itself as they stepped on the floor.
Elora saw an ordinary room with distinct symbols in each spot; she even wondered if this room was used for black magic experiments.
Falco said in a low tone “Elora, once our ancestor had saved very mysterious person. This mysterious person returned the favor to our family for saving his life, which was also the time our family raised in its peak. As this mysterious person left, he drew these symbols and taught our ancestor method to use them, but this mysterious person never mentioned what they were used for? He only told us to use it when absolutely necessary."
He placed the dead child at the center of the symbol on the floor, then he formed many symbols in the air and place them around the room.
"This is the final one." Falco placed in the final one. The entire symbol in the room drifted, spun around, and formed a barrier around the dead child.
Elora heart was racing because she couldn't see through the barrier. She had never heard of a person returning from the dead, but she was praying in her heart all the while for a miracle to occur.
Inside the barrier, the dead child was lifted in the air, disappeared from his position and appeared in another dimension. This dimension had many items floating around, if it was some kind of dump yard.
In front of the dead child, a ghost-like entity raised its eyebrow. “ Bladeluiff family finally used it after three thousand years, if they haven’t used it for another hundred years. My last soul avatar would have already vanished.”
The ghost figure stated, exhibiting pity "I don't know if it's your fortune or curse to encounter a dead person like me, most of your souls had already scattered. There is only one soul strain left. Allow me to assist you with my own."
The ghost figure distorted his soul and placed it into the body of the dead child. He also assisted the soul's strain in devouring his proportion of soul. He was perplexed for a while.
"Your element is......"
The ghost figure chuckled and summoned an unknown object, then he placed it inside the body of the dead child.
"Child, I've seen many powerful people perish due to a lack of morals. I hope the power does not blind you, and this is my final gift to you. This is not for free …" Before the ghost figure could finish his words.
His remaining soul proportion evaporated, and the dead child reappeared inside the barrier. The barrier also dissolved, and a child lay in the middle of the floor could be seen. Previously, there were many symbols in this room, but now it was just an empty room without a single mark.
"Was it successful?" Elora muttered as she picked up the infant from the floor. She shed a tear, but this time it was tears of happiness. She can hear a strong heartbeat.
Falco also heard the powerful heartbeat as well, but he realized something was amiss. The child was not crying or moving. Their child was alive, but it was immobile. Elora noticed it as well, but at least their child was alive and there is still hope.
They both exited the cellar and dispatched the guards from their duty that were stationed there.
Elora placed her child in her room, and summoned their personal doctor to examine their child.
“My Lord and Lady, This child is fine."
Falco frowned and asked angrily, "If my son is fine, why is he not crying, moving, or opening his eyes?"
The doctor remained quiet, having never seen anything like this before. It was out his ability.
At the same time, a ringing sound was heard by no one.
