His boots crunching against the leaves is the only sound he hears for miles and he starts counting them to pass the time. He'd lost count years ago but it is something he can focus on during times like this. Even though she doesn't know he's here, he hopes that she will still notice him. When he reaches the top of the hill he stops dead and holds his breath as he looks down the valley below, at his destination.

It's beautiful here. A huge expanse of green stretches out on either side for what seems like forever and it feels surreal to stand here, breathing in the fresh air, seeing the colors change as the light fades. He's been trying to build a comms link this past year to bring him and the other astronaut home. He has grown closer to her but she's never let out any noise, let alone a sigh. It worries him, but there are many things about her that he wishes to understand. Like why would she leave her home? Why did she stay? Why did she come to this strange place with him?
