Prologue: 500 Years Ago (Part 2 of 2)

I was always fascinated by the idea of magic as a limited resource, and that ended up becoming the backbone of the story. Usually, magic is this infinite thing a character can draw upon, and sure, there are rules or ways to go about it, but the limitations are on the characters, not on the magic itself.
A blessing can become a curse when there's not enough of it to go around, and those used to it, suddenly deprived may find themselves angry about it. Or what about those who were never offered it in the first place? How can you build a whole city on the idea of being united when wielding the one thing that divides everyone and puts you on top? Read on and find out! From here on, it's all prose!
