As Alexa thoughts wandered, she heard their parents come back and everyone got together to do their official greetings. Luckily Blairs parent were also supportive of her and did there best for the child they loved. Since it was still Christmas Eve, they opted to make a stocking for Olivia as well to include her in the festivities.
“Well, well, well we’ve heard a lot of you Olivia from Blair. I’m finally pleased to meet you.” Said Mr. Reeve with gentle smile and a firm handshake
Olivia responded in kind and said: “Mostly good things I hope and It’s finally good to meet you both to.”
“Mostly? We’ve ONLY heard of good things. When Blair talks about you she goes on full tirades about how you’re the be- “
“DAD! Come on! Enough already please” Blair said with her face flushed red all the way up to her ears.
“Yes, don’t tease her honey. Now let’s all sit down and have chat.” Mrs. Reeve said with a glint in her eyes.
Blair didn’t like that look. She knew her parents were going to play 21 questions with Olivia to get answers out of her. Instead of it being unbearable though, the conversation flowed, and a sense of relief washed over her. Watching her parents and Olivia interacting with each other made her unbelievably happy. It made her think of Ava and how they were like this once upon a time. She wished everyone could interact and be happy together. Blair was tired of being angry and tired of wasting time on things that happened forever ago. She made up with Ava and decided to move forward so her family should respect that decision. If anything did happen Blair knew she could count on Olivia now. Olivia more than proved herself up to the task with the cheerleading incident. Blair felt safe and calm whenever she was around. Now she just had to figure out what to do about her unresolved feelings. Blair’s been neglecting them ever since she found out she was in love with Olivia. Unsure of how to move forward in her situation. Blair thought that she really needed someone to talk to about this or she would never take any action.
Blair’s parents had dragged Olivia off to show her their old photo albums and to give her a tour of the house. Blair was horrified at the things Olivia might see but sensed a perfect opportunity to finally have a proper discussion about her problem. She could think of only one person who she could talk to comfortably about it: Alexa.
She gathered up her courage and asked Alexa if she could talk for minute while the others are preoccupied.
“So…. I thought that I might talk to you about a problem I’m having.” Blair said hesitantly.
“Let me guess, Olivia?” said Alexa as if this was the obvious conclusion.
“Huh???? Ho-“
Blair was about to ask how Alexa knew about her “problem” but got cut off.
“Oh, come on Blair. It’s kind of obvious don’t you think?” Alexa said with a dubious grin.
Blair didn’t think she was being obvious. Maybe she was letting her emotions show more than she wanted to let on. I guess that could be a testament to how much she liked Olivia. Spending there days together, texting each other, and never wanting to be separated for too long. Blair found herself wanting more than what she had, but to afraid of losing what she held dear. She had already lost everything once and didn’t want to repeat that with Olivia.
“I don’t know what you’re feeling or thinking Blair, but everything is going to work out. You really have to believe that to truly move forward.” Alexa said pulling her sister into a hug.
Moving forward was exactly what Blair wanted to do. Whether it be in her academic or social life, she wanted to look back and be proud of things she was doing. Her uncertainty and fear of reaching out her hand to the unknown, believing in herself to make the right choices for her own life. It was all so daunting and overbearing that she found herself curling back into herself where she was most comfortable. Caterpillars don’t go into their cocoon to just come out an even worse version of themselves. Blair felt like she finally wanted to take those chances and spread out her wings. She found that exact chance she wanted to take with Olivia. Whenever Olivia was in her life it made her a better person, made her have thoughts about the future and made her open herself back up to the world. The world felt more vibrant than ever, and she was truly happy.
“So go out there and go take those chances dumbass. We’ll always support you and be here if you need us.” Alexa said with bright smile.
“O-O-Ok, I got this. I got this. I’ll go take the first step. Wish me luck!” Blair said beaming and waving.
Alexa looked fondly toward Blair happy that she got to see this side of her again. She was suspicious of Olivia at first and was nervous that she would turn out to be another Ava. But it was hard to deny the impact she had on her sister in moments like these. So, Alex wished - from the bottom of her heart - for their happiness to last forever.
Blair found Olivia in the back taking a breather from her parents. This was the most nervous she’s ever been in her whole entire life. She knew she was just going to ask her out on a date, but this was her first time being the initiator. She really didn’t want to fuck this up or look like a total idiot in the process.
Before she opened the back door, she couldn’t help but admire Olivia. When she really looked at Olivia there was no other emotion to call this but love. That gave her the motivation and push she needed to keep moving forward.
“Well, if it isn’t the star of the show. Hello sunshine.” Olivia said warmly.
“Sorry, for the hassle Liv. I know my parents can be a bit much sometimes.”
“No problem. I actually really love it here.”
Olivia really meant what she said. Blair’s house was filled to the brim with love and getting to know more about the woman she liked wasn’t bad at all.
On the other hand, Blair’s chest felt hot from Olivia’s words. She couldn’t contain how happy she was that Olivia was with her like this.
“Liv, I have something to tell you.” Blair said seriously while locking eyes with Olivia.
“Funny you say that sunshine. So do I.” said Olivia keep the eye contact.
“I lo-“
Olivia was trying to say something but got cut off by a roaring Blair.
“WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO ON A DATE WITH ME TOMORROW!”
Blair was looking down at her toes and holding a card she gotten for this very occasion. She was bright red like the sun owning her nickname as sunshine. Olivia was caught off guard but started to laugh.
“Hahahahaha. You never cease to amaze me, Blair. Sure, let’s go on a date.” Olivia said with tears falling out of her eyes.
