Dear father,
I have left our home. I have gone to find mother. I shan’t be back without her.
Ms. Keyes revealed what you have concealed from the first day of my mother’s departure; that she did not leave to care for grandmamma in Marseilles but left us—our family. She has also divulged the truth of my letters. They were never sent to France. Instead, you have been reading them and replying as mother. I know why you have done this. But I cannot find it in my heart to forgive you. I can be cruel, like her.
I am still determining where I will end up, but I will write another letter soon to keep you apprised of my efforts.
Your daughter.
