King Mafia and Mago

MAGO

MAGO

Dec 16, 2022

Edward Mago, a 17-year-old boy, ran away from a ‘species’ he likes to call him like his life depended on it. He neither wanted to talk nor he wanted to interact with the Chris family in any way, but here he was running with his head down trying to pry the man, after him, off as soon as possible. It was difficult, though, since the foster family of Mago was one of a kind in the world, a definition of cruelty, and a god made an example of selfish people.

But Mago was one of a kind as well.

The fruit of his efforts soon manifested when he spotted an alley from which blaring music and lights were emanating, posing the back entrance of a club. The place was packed with people bustling inside the main club, drinking and dancing as if there was no tomorrow. The prestigious club came under the ownership of some powerful people, people with close ties to the underworld, and was said to be the hub of meetings known for dangerous undertakings.

Mago had nothing to do with such information; however, he was tired of his life’s unfavourable events, the only refuge from beating for the night was enough kindness. He could have considered hiding or maybe thought of something else, but till then, the man he was running from caught up to him, making Mago run for the entrance. However, a bulky, buff guy standing at the door of the club didn’t seem welcoming, considering he had the most unimpressed scowl on his face that screamed ‘not friendly’ in bold.

Raising his hand out to stop Mago, he glared at the boy up and down.

“Where to, boy?” he asked, letting other people through but not Mago “You aren’t allowed here, get out”, he said, not letting Mago speak or answer for what he was there for, and that pulled an attitude from the boy.

“You didn’t let me answer” the boy rolled his eyes, and the guard glared at him, already not liking him. Mago then smiled all toothily, glanced at his back once before he returned to stare at the guard and gestured to him to lean down. The guard raised a brow at him, confused…… by the audacity or courage he didn’t know…… but he leaned in Mago’s direction anyway.

“That man is following me, please save me, help me….please”, Mago said in a whisper, voice pleading and eyes innocently big. The guard stood straight and eyed the man, panting behind Mago, then he shrugged nonchalantly and continued his work.

Mago’s jaw dropped at the act

How disrespectful

A tight grip around his upper arm jerked him out of his ‘unbelievable stupor’ and Mago whipped on his heels, the man chasing him earlier stood behind him and had clear intentions of what he wanted to do to the boy once home. Just as he started to drag the boy, chaos at the entrance of the club began because of some drunkard and his unreasonable demands. The drunk man shouted and threw hands as he gathered a crowd around him, and that’s when Mago snatched the opportunity and his arm from his ‘perpetrator’ and slinked inside the club without anyone noticing.

Phew

Mago smiled and posed a salute to the man outside, savouring his victory, for he fooled the older and the security altogether. But his smile faltered when the said man shook his head in disappointment and pulled out a stylish card out of his pocket and presented it to the guard on duty, after the drama was over, and entered the club like royalty. Mago fell speechless, grumbly like a baby tiger, for being followed once again by none other than his soon-to-be husband and that recurring information was proving to be a moo spoiler.

Mago had to get out of here

But before he could decipher his way out, the boy was dragged and propped on the tall bar chair, making his small legs dangle from the height. Mago wasn’t particularly tall, nor small, but his physique resembled somewhat of a middle schooler, and let me tell you, he was in high school and in his last year, and he was proud of it.

Anyone will be in his shoes because, from what he suffered, that high school was an achievement he can receive an award for.

The man had a bruising grip over his arm, he was smiling at Mago’s adorable behaviour, yet alarming him with a warning that any other stupid act would get him so bad. Mago understood those clues expertly, though he relaxed his body to show that he won’t run away anymore, and the man left his arm, sitting on a stool opposite him.

“Now, may I ask what your problem is, Mago? Why are you running away?” the man asked with a glare, voice serious and challenging, that had Mago uncomfortable in an instant. You see, Mago was minding his own business, swinging in the park on his way home from school, but then a bitch snitched on him to her brother and caused him to run for his life from the man chasing him with a baseball bat.

Who wants to get hit just because of a little swing, but there he was, sitting under the deadly glare of the man who, thankfully, had not a bat but still had muscles to confine Mago in a tight grip. And those large hands, which can cause his cheeks to sting for days. And mind you, here we are talking about both cheeks of his face and of his round, voluminous butt.

Mago was plotting a disturbing plan to bolt for the door, he ignored the question and started to count the second he would need for—

“I will tell the guards that you are under age Mago, do you want to go to jail?” the man asked beside him, catching up on the quietness of his wife and his evil mind as he sighed umpteenth time that day.

“No”, Mago whispered in return, not wanting to go to jail.

“Now tell me……why did you come here……why are you running?” the older asked again, this time politely.

“I am not Jana….. I just don’t like being at home…….and what is the problem if I am here?” the boy retorted, agitated with the inquiry, as he crossed his legs on the chair with utmost difficulty. Mago then raised his hand and gestured to the bartender to come take his order. The bartender looked confused at him but obliged nonetheless.

The boy smirked as if he had achieved something, and Jana chuckled at his childish behaviour. Mago was nothing but adorable in every way possible.

“You!....get me a ham and cheese with big cola, fries and nuggets” Mago ordered, smirking, checking his nails like a diva as he threw a glance at Jana like the other was a meagre peasant. The bartender snickered at the boy and laughed silently.

“I am sorry, sir; we don’t serve this menu”, the bartender told politely, not to offend the smug boy in his own world.

“Then get me the best you have”, Mago ordered again, unaware of any club routine, while he checked around the surroundings.

“Sure ……..we have Old Fashioned, Margarita, Cosmopolitan, Negroni, Moscow Mule and …” the bartender was interrupted when Mago raised his hand like you do when you have a question regarding math and you are afraid to ask the strict teacher.

“What are these….I..I don’t know any of these,” he whispered dramatically. Jana, who was enjoying the show, smiled and then looked at the bartender waiting to get the order.

“Get a soda for my princess”, Jana ordered, making the younger roll his eyes at the endearment.

“You are not for this world, Mago……why don’t you understand…it will be better if you listen to us…I can protect you, baby,” he said, and Mago looked up, glaring at him.

“I don’t want to marry you, Jana……you are the one not understanding it all….and I am not a baby that needs protection” said Mago a little loudly, pissing Jana off with the aim to get attention from around.

“You are a baby…and you need more than one hand to protect you, sweetheart. Tell me, if you are not a baby, then why the hell would you enter a place like this without any knowledge?” Jana asked, sighing loudly, he didn’t want to hurt the younger, but Mago was tempting him to teach him a lesson.

“I am not… and come to think of it...why do you have a card of this place?” Mago asked equally challenging, and Jana laughed a little before continuing

“Because I am a member”, he said briefly

“So you can come and I can’t... It's fucking unfair,” he said whining, pouting his lips and unconsciously making Jana want to pounce on him. Jana was mesmerised by the beauty Mago possessed; he couldn’t get enough of the boy.

“I can make you a member if you listen to me”, he offered while standing up and coming near Mago. He placed his hands over the younger’s shoulder and leaned down to his ear.

“Marry me, Mago……..and I will give you whatever you want”, he rasped playfully and nibbled on Mago’s ear, making the boy gasp. Right then, a waitress came out of nowhere and slammed a tray on the counter, telling the bartender to hurry up. Both Mago and Jana watched her leave with a filled tray; the older focused back on the boy, closing the distance and touching the boy, but Mago was stuck on the girl.

The younger then pushed at the older’s chest, getting off the stool with effort as Jana wasn’t leaving him alone, and stood determined in front of his forceful to be husband.

“I can’t, Jana…..you and I have so much difference between us… I can’t marry you,” he sai,d still looking at the girl serving drinks over an empty table. He frowned.

Why would she place those savouries on an empty table?

“But why….and what difference are you talking about, there is no fucking difference, or is what Patty was saying right … do you perhaps have a lover, Mago?” Jana asked dangerously, face hardening with each word, and Mago gulped nervously.

“Mago!.... I am asking you something…….do you have a lover?” he asked again, warning the boy about what could go wrong if he didn’t listen to him. When Mago didn’t reply, a bad feeling emerged in Jana’s mind about the lover Mago could have. Mago, on the other hand, flinched at the harsh tone of Jana.

“I..I didn’t want to tell you….but….but…” he couldn’t find a suitable lie. Mago searched around for any inspiration when, on a cue, a bunch of men entered the club, and a roar of excitement appeared around. Everyone stood at attention, bowing in respect of the highest status and giving way to the big, bulky, expensive-looking men.

Jana also bowed his head as well when they walked passed them, much to Mago’s surprise, and that’s when a light bulb appeared in his head.

The boy watched as those people settled down on that empty table, the girl was serving drinks at and began talking like some corporate intellectuals. Strippers and servers crowded their space, serving drinks and entertainment, and a rich laughter erupted from the corner as well, making Mago curious.

The boy never had a coincidence coming to a club and seeing these type of people…..but so far….Mago was liking it.

“I am asking you last time, Mago….tell me if you have a lover?” Jana asked, closing the gap between the two and breaking Mago out of his trance. Mago felt trapped, under the pressure of marriage and the suffocating family he was going to be stuck with.

Therefore, whatever he could think of became a reality of his dire situation.

“Yes, I do…. I... I have a lover, but you don’t need to know who he is,” he finally said, composing himself with difficulty as he tried to meet eyes with Jana. Jana laughed at him in return, hitting his thighs with force for how much funny Mago was. Mago felt embarrassed because of how people were looking their way; it was as if they were drunk or more like lunatics allowed in this prestigious club.

“You…omg you have a lover….” Jana laughed like a maniac “Come on, Mago….no one can get near you with our family system….even your schooling is monitored by Patty”, he said, heaving for breath, and  Mago in return scowled at him.

“I have…and I don’t need to prove anybody”, said Mago, eyeing the men at the table, scrutinising them for a suitable candidate for his miserable lie.

“Oh really…..than why is he not with you, why are you alone and at my mercy, love, ……..knowing you, you could have run away far from us by now” Jana mocked Mago, pulling humour out of the situation, so serious for the boy as he smirked.

“Oh, I know…..pretty little lover boy doesn’t have money to buy my princess anything he desires…..huh….cannot fulfil the wishes like I can right?……..oh yes….he can’t even afford the club card for you to enjoy huh Mago?” Jana teased, mimicking a comedic gem from their childhood cartoon/film industry, while catching attention here and there from people around.

Mago face-palmed when he spotted someone pointing at them while Jana played a show. It was shameful and embarrassing, but that’s what he called ‘Chris's family’

But enough teasing, Jana had to shut up.

“he doesn’t need the card like you do, he owns the club”, Mago blurted out, exasperated, effectively shutting Jana up and making him look at Mago dumbfounded.
