The girl then turned around towards Alex who was looking at her in surprise. ‘She’s… strong!’ Alex said to Miracle.
‘Strong to you indeed but still an insect.’ Miracle scoffed.
‘Who isn’t an insect in front of you?’ Alex blinked inwardly not much amused as to how everyone appears inferior in front of him.
“Are you alright?” The girl asked.
“I might have a fracture, maybe, I don’t know, it hurts.” Alex blurted realizing the throbbing pain from Blake’s earlier attack.
“Don’t worry, I’ll free you in a few seconds.” The girl assured as she stretched her hand towards the magic circle. The palm of her hand began to glow in a green hue as she seemed to be dispelling the magic circle.
“Did Merissa send you here?” Alex asked.
During the day when Miracle had told him about handing the stone over to Merissa, he had called her up on the number she had given him. He had explained her over the phone regarding the stone and Blake. She had told him to be careful and that she’ll try to send some help if possible. Seeing as the person in front from him is from The Council, Alex thought that she might be sent by Merissa.
‘Merissa… that’s the contact, master mentioned.’ The girl thought to herself.
“I suppose you could say that.” She replied vaguely. Although she was seemingly helping him, Alex still had his guard up against her.
“Not so fast!” Azmiel screamed startling the two. The girl looked up only to find him swinging a thin sword with chains binding it, down upon her as he descended from air.
*Clank*
The sword clashed with the blade of the girl’s spear as she had quickly called it by her side. The force behind Azmiel’s attacked was too much for her to bear as she flew back from the impact.
“Now deal with this! Mortem Blade!” Azmiel called out the name of a spell as he swung his sword in a downward arc. A large amount of concentrated mana was released in form of a slash destroying the floor as it made its way towards the girl.
‘Is he trying to topple this building?!’ She thought to herself sensing the strength of the attack.
‘If I take this attack head on, the building will be surely fall down… I need to deflect it!’ Thinking of a way to deal with it she chanted a spell causing green colored mana to form around her spear taking the shape of her spear itself. Her spear had now become more elongated and wider.
Grabbing it like a bat she swung it outward meeting the mana slash with the flat surface of her mana formed spear.
Moment by moment she was pushed back by immense pressure. ‘This is bad, at this rate, the attack will slice through her.’ Alex thought.
‘I beg to differ.’ Miracle commented.
‘Huh? What do you mean—
‘Although she’s an insect she’s got better mana control than you. Look at that.’ Just as Miracle said that the girl let out a shriek. But it wasn’t one of defeat or pain but victory as she swung her spear with all her force pushing the mana slash out of the building and into the sky by breaking through the ceiling. She took care to direct it towards where there weren’t any upper floors.
“Hah… hah…” Her breathing became ragged as she used the staff to support herself.
*Clap* *Clap* *Clap*
“Nicely done, Council dog, I am surprised that you were able to pull that off. You are not their ordinary run of the mill soldier, are you? But it doesn’t matter since you are facing the two of us now!” Azmiel said before charging at her.
The girl was confused at his words when she heard Alex shout to her.
“Behind you!”
Not even a second later she turned around while placing her staff to her side in a defensive manner. A mana imbued kick crashed into her staff causing her to fly to the side. Despite the surprise attack from Blake who had woken up, the girl didn’t sustain much damage due to her timely reaction.
‘Good reaction speed, she is by far the top insect just below that Merissa whom you’ve met.’
‘Will you stop complimenting her for a second and find a way to get me out of this?’ Alex asked annoyed.
‘That won’t be possible. These chains in which you are trapped in are different from the ones, that Chain insect have been conjuring. This is from a trap type magic item. These are also quite difficult to sense. I would have done so, but someone is rather too weak for me use my abilities properly.’ Miracle scoffed.
‘Fine, fine, I am weak. But how do I get out?’
‘We either wait for the mana to run out of the device or get external help. That girl was earlier doing a good job of dispelling it but it seems she’ll remain engaged for a while now.’ Miracle explained.
The girl was continuously getting cornered by Azmiel and Blake’s continuous attacks. It was proving difficult for her to counter.
“Big bang Fist!” Blake called out as he swung a large mana fist at her. The Council girl reacted quickly by covering her spear with mana like before and sliced through the fist. But the threat didn’t subside as several chains hovering above her raced at her. While maintaining the mana spear over her normal spear she quickly spun her spear backward while doing a side flip shattering the chains.
Just like that their barrage of attacks continued cornering her. ‘If this goes on then I’ll run out of mana and strength before they do…’
While defending against Blake and Azmiel, the girl glanced towards Alex or more particularly towards the stone which was in his zipper. She knew if things went on like this, they’ll get their hands on that item. Strengthening her resolve she knew what she had to do.
Azmiel’s chains stopped midway as well as Blake’s mana balls when they suddenly felt a large rise in mana from her. The blade of her spear began to glow ever so brightly. The next moment it began to extend like that of a light saber. It was coupled with a high-pitched noise almost unbearable for the two to hear.
“Bear this… high-pitched blade!” The Council girl called out as she swinged the near 10-meter extended spear’s blade in a horizontal manner cutting everything in its way.
“Shit! That’s a dangerous tier 3, jump dimwit!” Azmiel called out to Blake.
“You don’t need to tell me twice!” Blake retorted as the two of them jumped u evading it narrowly. But they didn’t know that the blade was never meant for them.
*Boom*
A small explosion occurred behind Blake and Azmiel as they turned their head. Surprise creeped on their face as Alex got free of the chains.
