Opal the White Wolf

Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Dec 16, 2022

Opal looked through her clothes again. Not that there was much to look through, still she wanted to look presentable. She never wore much makeup but for the sake of this date she bought herself an eyeliner and lip gloss. After changing her mind many times Opal decided to wear a black dress with not very deep v neck. It was her only dress bought once at the second hand shop. It was the first time Opal actually wore it. She looked in the mirror, with the little makeup, loose hair and small silver earrings her Omega purred with satisfaction. Fuck yes she wanted to feel attractive for once in her life and she wanted to experience someone’s attention. After a moment she thought that maybe the dress was too much, should she change to something simpler? Does she make it too obvious? Opal reached for her drawer again when she heard a car coming. Bran was here. Her heart was beating fast, she took a deep breath. It’s just like hunting Opal, keep your nerves on a leash. She kept repeating herself. Knock at the door.

“Coming” Opal rushed to the door. As soon as she opened them a bright smile greeted her.

“Hi Opal, …… wow you look beautiful” Bran couldn’t take his eyes away from her. In that dress and with that hair good god she looked like an angel.

“Thank you”. Opal answered, turning her head a little to hide the sudden blushing and to fetch the coat. “I’m ready”.

Bran kept talking all the way to the city about everything, the weather, the film that they will see and the restaurant they are going to. He also explained to her how the warrior’s training looks like. Opal assumed he was equally nervous.

They parked in front of the small Italian restaurant. It was the first time Opal was treated to a meal in such a place. Bran booked a small table in the corner and they ordered some pasta recommended by the waitress.

“So, I’ve been talking like a lot – Bran poured her some red wine – but I must say I’m really curious about you”

“Me? I thought everyone in the town knows everything about me” She sent him a shy smile.

“Well they know the usual stuff repeated by the gossipers, what I mean is how do you manage to survive alone. I don’t want to come off as rude, but you are an Omega, and even an Alpha would have had problems living like you do” Bran crooked his head looking straight into the black eyes of Opal.

“So what do you want to know, some tips about hunting, cooking or sewing?” Opal put the wine glass aside and rested her head on interlaced fingers.

“Sewing sounds good, I tried it once and I really suck at this.” He nodded seriously, making Opal laugh.

“My grandma taught me a lot about herbs, how to preserve food and stuff like that, however someone else gave me the basics about hunting.” For a moment she closed her eyes and a faint smile appeared on her lips.

“And who was that lucky one?”

“Ryer, he was an old lonely wolf living behind the north border. I came across him by accident. I almost bled out to death as I got attacked by a furious wild boar.” She touched her arm absent minded.

“I’m sorry I didn’t want to bring back bad memories “– he reached for Opal’s hand.

“It’s OK.” – Opal felt the warmth of Bran’s hand on hers. It was a nice comforting feeling.

“What happened to the rogue?” - She decided to switch the topic

“He is being interrogated by Jakson. I don’t know the details but he seems to be a tough one. You were lucky with that ditch.” Opal said nothing but she knew luck had nothing to do with the ditch. Hunting also had nothing do do with luck, it was all about skills and determination.

Bran looked at the time.

“I think we should go if we want to see the film.”

“Yeah sure” – Opal stood up and was helped gallantly with her coat by Bran.

Within a few minutes they reached the cinema. Bran again opened the door for Opal and holding her hand, led her to the main entrance. There wasn’t a long queue, after buying the tickets Bran left to fetch popcorn and some drinks. Opal waited in the hall looking at the posters displayed on the wall. She felt it long before she saw him. A smell of juniper berry and yuzu getting stronger each moment mixed together with an intense floral scent of lily. Opal turned around, there he was. The Alpha asshole with a giggling Omega glued to his arm. She was short, busty with brown shoulder long curls. She was wearing that blue coat with white fur from the shop display. Fuck, Opal was jealous. The coat looked really nice, it would have looked even better on her.

“Jayden!” - She heard Bran behind her – “You haven’t told me that you will be here too!” There was a surprise in his voice.

“I didn’t feel like staying home and Julie wanted some fun so here we are.” He had a low deep voice.

“I see, I’m with Opal” Bran handed Opal a bucket of popcorn. “Opal you know Jayden and this is Julie”.

“Nice to meet you Julie” she was one of the Omegas flocking around this dumbass.

Julie frowned, she said nothing.

“The film will start any minute, let’s go Opal”. Bran rushed them.

They sat in the eighth row and the other couple two rows behind them. The film started, it was a romantic comedy full of funny misunderstandings. After a while Opal felt Bran’s arm wrapping around her shoulder. Bran leaned and whispered into her ear sending shivers all over her neck.

“Can I touch your hair?”

Opal looked at him with a smirk on her face. Two can play this game. She got closer to his ear brushing it with her lips. Bran held his breath for a moment.

“You can if you want to” from the corner of her eye she saw Jayden gazing at them, no he was rather gazing straight at her.

Bran’s fingers touched strands of her hair feeling how silky it was. Nobody touched her hair, not since grandma died and not like that. It was sensual and Opal felt excitement building deep inside her chest. She also felt something else, just like when she encountered that rouge, this same feeling of uneasiness. She looked back for a short glimpse, Jayden wasn’t watching this film. He was watching her.
