The walk home wasn't as treacherous as one would think though it was pretty far.
To be very honest, Adonael had many powers up his sleeve. Including a transportation power that he could easily use to get them home faster.
But that would be less fun, wouldn't it?
Besides, Ken wasn't all that heavy. Adonael reached their home, and a new sleeping Ken hung on tight while Adonael struggled to open the door. When he did, he quickly shut the door with the heel of his foot and went to set Ken down on the couch. He smiled as Ken fell onto the sofa with an "Oof...Adonael..?" He stirred.
Adonael sat next to him, leaning into the warmth that was Ken. "Yes, Ken...?" He whispered. He didn't want to wake him up, but if Ken was feeling too lightheaded or nauseous, he wanted to be there. Ken slowly opened his eyes, glossy, as he turned to look toward Adonael. Adonael gave him a soft smile, wanting to try his best to comfort him with whatever he wanted. He could tell by the way his lips fell. He would probably cry. Ken forcefully leaned against Adonael, knocking Adonael against one of the throw pillows.
Okay...This was a new development. Ken held himself up by Adonael's arms, using his hands to grip. Adonael looked directly at him. "...Ken?" He asked worriedly. In a different situation, this would be amazing for Adonael. If Ken were sober, he'd take him right then and there. But this was way too different. This wasn't the time.
Tears were sliding down Ken's face. "Hic..." Ken laid his head against Adonael's neck. "...Thank you..." It was a quiet whimper, but Adonael could hear it perfectly. Adonael sat up, slowly wrapping his arms around Ken's torso. He brought Ken closer to him. "I haven't done anything yet, Ken." He whispered. A wet spot was forming on Adonael's shirt, where Ken was crying. "Shhh...Ken, could you try falling asleep for me? I think you're exhausted."
A slow turn of Ken's head and Adonael was blown away by how Ken looked. His bottom lip quivered, and his wide blue eyes filled with tears. "...You've done so much for me already. I don't know why you did this for me...But I'm so grateful for you." Adonael stared at Ken. He smiled back at him gently. He hugged him tighter, "Ken...If you keep acting like this, you'll make me want to do more for you."
Ken let out a stifled laugh. "Is that so bad, Addy?"
Warmth crept up on Adonael's cheeks and ears. "...Maybe it won't be."
"Ow! Please, help me!" The voice cried.
Where was that coming from? It's been so long since he's heard that voice.
"Let go of me! KEN!!" It begged.
He couldn't find it. But it sounds so familiar. Who is it? Why can't he see them?
"Please.." The voice sobbed. "Please let me go..." It pleaded.
"He's not here! Stop calling for him!"
Whack.
The boy is crying.
"He can't help you! Look at me... Is he here right now?"
Whack.
The sobbing stopped.
"Look! Is he helping you?? It's me here...Michael, you're mine."
No sound.
Whack.
Why was he still hitting him?
It sounded like...
Why wasn't anyone helping him? Where was everyone? Had he been crying this loud?
He could hear him loud and clear. No help arrived.
Ken woke with a start. He hadn't exactly fallen off in a cliche way, but it was more of the feeling you get when you fall in your dreams, and just as you're about to hit the ground, you're awake. Ken sighed slowly and tried to close his eyes again. What had been that dream? That voice was so familiar it could only really be one person. Michael. But who had the other voice been? Michael and...He didn't know. He'd never heard it before. He had to memorize all he could make about that dream. Even the parts he'd rather forget. He gently sat up, and it took him a few seconds to realize that he was on the couch. It took him a couple of more seconds to realize he was cuddling on someone.
It took one second to curse himself. The person whose chest he had been cuddling all night had been Adonael. Ken blushed the brightest he's ever even thought of. Holy hell, what had he done? He could see Adonael tease him now.
"...Finally awake, huh?" A smug voice called to him.
A large sigh from Ken. "...Fuck." followed by annoying laughter right after.
It had been one year since Kenneth's little brother Michael died a tragic and horrifying death. Unable to function properly, Ken begins to think he may have to give up and leave Michael's murder unsolved. Until one night, as he drifts asleep, a strange handsome man in his dream offers him the deal of a lifetime.
