"He didn't even ask me if I was okay with it," she whispered now, not bothering to make an attempt to stem the flow of tears. "I mean… I'm happy for him, but I…" She licked her lips and fell silent. No one knew about the nightmares that had plagued her for the past two nights. Nightmares that left her jerking awake almost every hour, screams caught in her throat as unshed tears welled up in her eyes and sweat dried sticky on her skin. Nyx would have encouraged her to tell someone, like Faren or the other magical girls, and she didn't think it would help. They hadn't been there. They didn't know what it was like to watch everyone you loved die and know that there was nothing you could do to stop it.
