[Lucifer]
So, far the convention was boring, and annoying.
It's only been two hours, and a number of higher demons have come to talk to me, trying to gain a stop in the court for when I take over. To say it's exhausting was an understatement. I haven't been able to catch a break since I got here. Dastran on the other hand seemed to be enjoying himself, though, nobody was at his throat every minute asking about politics, and where his father is.
I grab a glass of Hell Fire from a passing lower demon servant and take a large swallow. The liquid burned down my throat, but it did just the right thing to loosen me up a bit. Someone taps my shoulder; I growl letting them know I didn't want to be bothered.
"Is that the way you treat your sister?" The perky voice behind me asked, with a hint of annoyance. "To be perfectly honest Luci, this is the most uptight I've seen you since mom died. When was the last time you got laid?" My sister, Lilah seemed rather disappointed in me. But did I give a shit?
No. Not really.
My sexual life wasn't her concern no matter how right she is.
My gaze lands on her golden eyes, that resemble mine. She smiles up at me then engulfs me in a massive hug. At the twenty years old- human years of course- she still acts immature, but I love her, nonetheless. I embrace her, letting her familiar lilac and spicy nutmeg scent fill my senses. It's been six months since I'd seen her. With her traveling the world, and me taking on the responsibility my father dropped in my lap, we haven't had the time to see each other. A few calls, text messages, and face chats weren't enough.
"I miss you, Lily." I mumble in her hair. I didn't care that half of the demon population was staring at us. They can suck it if the wanted too.
Lilah steps back and gets a good look at me. "I miss you too Lucifer. How is my favorite brother doing?"
"As good as the future King of Hell would ever be." I deadpanned.
"Don't be so dual brother. You should at least have fun every once in a while. Isn't that why you and Dastran are friends?" She and I walk through the crowed, in the dimly lit room.
I sigh running my hand through my hair, answering her question. "It's hard Lilah. Ever since father left. I've been neck deep in all of the affairs. The weight on my shoulders keeps pressuring me, and I can't seem to get it off. "
"I can help you." She said, her golden eyes stare up at me.
"I can't allow that, Lily. It's my responsibility no yours. You need to enjoy your life to the fullest."
"You do to Lucifer. And if you're too good to see when your stressed, and others have offered you help, then I can't help you. Dastran has called informing me of your wellbeing, and it isn't good. You have dark circles and bags underneath your eyes, Luci, for crying out loud. What happened to the fun-loving brother I once knew. The one that wasn't afraid to ask for help. Wake up Lucifer, you're not alone in this." After her rant she shakes her head and leaves mumbling curses.
I know she's right, but I can't put that type of stress on her.
I can't let what happened to my mother happen to her.
After my sister's lecture, I find Dastran conversating with a Sloth demon.
The poor periwinkle eyed chap wasn't even paying attention to the fact, Dastran was trying to steal his pet right under his nose. The Sloth demon eyes droop as he continues to talk, nearly on the verge of falling asleep.
"Dastran!" I shout getting his attention, making him and the other demon snap their gazes towards me. I smile generously at them, but my smile was forced towards the orange eyed demon that somehow has the leash in his hand. Dastran drops the silver leash upon seeing me. It took the Sloth demon a little time to register, but he bows slowly when he sees me. His pet on the other hand looked like he'd seen a ghost and was ready to shit his pants at any minute.
"My prince. It's an honor to be in your presences." The periwinkle eyed demon tugs on his pets leash gently, getting him to bow as well.
In all honesty I hated the honorifics.
Maybe that's something I could look into when I become King
I tell them to rise, and they do so.
"What is your name?" I asked curious to know what demon's pet was about to be taken away.
"Tagdas, my prince, and this," Tagdas, tugs on his pet's leash once more. " Is my pet, Quinney."
I nod, " Well, Tagdas, I'm going to have to steal Dastran for the rest of the night. He hasn't been out in a while and doesn't know how to act. Sometimes I wonder if he's secretly a child hiding in a man's body."
Tagdas smiles in understanding. "Yes, my prince. Quinney and I were just leaving. Sleep has befallen me, and I mustin defy natures call to a good nap."
They turn leaving in the opposite direction.
Dastran looked pissed.
Did I care?
Nah not really
"Are you fuckin with me Lucifer?"
"No absolutely not." I smirk relishing in his angry. " That would be scandalous, but as you can see, I'm not an incubus."
He rolls his eyes and stocks off in another direction. I watch him disappear in the crowed, before letting out another much-needed sigh. I could feel a headache coming on and the noise wasn't doing anything to help it.
I stalk towards the door needing air.
A line of pets stood next to the door looking petrified as ever. If I were in their shoes, I be scared to. Being in the presents of beings that can kill you in the most terrifying ways is unfortunate to say the least.
As I pass the stench of human fills my sensitive senses, until I pass a section that was different from the rest. The scent called to me. All my stress was cleared as well as my minor headache.
It was a pure refreshing mixture of lavender and peppermint...…. but that wasn't even the strangest part.
The strangest part........ the scent wasn't human.
