[Lucifer]
"I appreciate you taking the time out to meet with me today." Mrs. Zygon said to me holding her hands in her lap. She was an envy demon, unlike her husband that was wrath. She has pale skin with strawberry blonde hair, and light green eyes. But underneath her calm exterior, I could see the bags under her them. The pain that hides behind her light irises.
I nod sipping my coffee that Ollsor brought me moments ago. Sitting the mug back on the desk, I look up at Cheryl, and gave her a warm smile. "It's not a problem. So, you wanted to discuss who the southern border affairs are going to be handed over to?"
She nods, pulling out a manilla folder, from her purse. "Yes, my family and I on both sides spoke with the lawyer about the will." I grab the folder from her hands, opening it and took out a few papers. I read through each one finally finding the one I needed. The one that was most important.
Once I finished reading the will, I turn my gaze away from the papers that where in the folder, and give my attention to Mrs. Zygon, who is fidgeting nervously, with her hands. I clear my throat getting her my attention.
" I read through it. And I see that do to the fact that your husband has died, all the land, shares, estates, and finances is going to an Alvagan Zygon. Correct?"
She nods, and I continue. "So, this Alvagan is your son?"
This time Cheryl shakes. "No, he's my husband first wife's son. But she passed away ten years after Alvagan was born."
I rub my chin in interest. That's nothing new, demons aren't invincible we could still die.
What caught my attention is why Cheryl was here instead of Alvagan himself.
"Why isn't Alvagan here, Mrs. Zygon. If he is the one that is to inherit everything, then why isn't he here in your place?"
Cheryl wrings her hands, her green eye glassing over. "He died twenty years ago."
"Then my question is who's inheriting the affairs Mrs. Zygon? I can't hand it over to you. This will is sealed in demon blood and essence. If not followed through your family and the other Zygon's will be killed instantly." I said, giving her the truth.
"I know, my prince-" she starts.
"Please, Lucifer is fine." I shudder in disgust at the honorifics.
"I know, m-Lucifer. That's why I wanted to have this meeting with you today." She continues, sounding more confident with herself now. " Days before Alvagan's death, he told us that he had a child on the way. That they we're heading out of the city to hide. He said something about it being dangerous for them to stay here." She swallows hard, her eyes turning glassy once more. Tears begin to flow down the envy demon's cheek, I hand her a tissue, and she thanks me resuming her story. " Not even a week before they left, Alvagan wouldn't answer any of his father's calls, which was strange since him and his father are close. We went to his house it was ransacked, stuff broken and scattered everywhere. Assuming nothing of we thought they might have gotten away before then, since his scent was fading, but two days later, we got a package with his head in the box, and his horns and fangs pulled from his skull."
After Mrs. Zygon finished her story, I let her words sink in.
" What happened to the child?" I ask
Cheryl shrugs dabbing her eye with the tissue I gave her. " I don't know."
Shit
Just what I need.
" They'd be around twenty years old, by now." Cheryl said.
I'm getting ready to answer her when, a knock resounds from behind my office door.
"Come in." I sigh, taking a sip of my coffee.
It was lukewarm.
The door opens and Ollsor walks in taking a bow, then smile at me and Mrs. Zygon. "Sir you have another guest, waiting at the door. He said it was an emergency."
Running my hands through my hair, I had a feeling I knew who the guest was.
A certain, greed demon that's who.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Zygon, but we're going to have to cut this meeting short. When do you think the next time, you'll be available?"
" Is next month fine? I'm going to visit some family in Hell for a while. You know take my mind off of things."
I nod in understanding. "Yes, that's fine, and well discuss everything until then. Have a nice day, Mrs. Zygon."
"You too, m-Lucifer."
Ollsor leads Mrs. Zygon out the house, a few minutes later my office door burst open, and there stood, Dastran.
"Hasn't anyone every taught you to knock?"
"Oh, stop whining, Luci." Dastran rolls his eye, plopping down into the chair Mrs. Zygon was just sitting in.
"Why are you here?" I ask annoyed. "If you came here to pester me, I suggest you get the fuck out."
"Lighten up, will ya. I got some good news." The blonde, orange eyed demon, smiles wide, like he'd just won a prize.
Such a child.
He drums rolls his finger on my desk making me cringe. "I figured out who that Divine was in the hall that night."
That got my attention. We've been trying to figure it out for days. I smile at my friend, at least he's not completely useless.
"Who is it?"
"They're a pet or slave. I ran the footage a few times and I was able to zoom, and they had a collar. They were new and only one demon would get something like that."
" A greed." We said together.
" Yep, and the only greed demon with their showcase of pets that night was my uncle, Akillies. Who owns the largest pet shop in the city."
"So, what are you saying?"
"We go to the pet shop buy the pet and kill them."
