Oki had to plan his following action accordingly. He wasn't sure if he was ready to fight again, and it hadn't helped that blood was seeping from his forehead. The stupid bastard got a good blow on him. Oki grabbed his phone and stared at the time. Crap. It was 10:51. He picked his backpack up from the floor and started walking, hoping that whatever he had felt was an animal or something. He heard footsteps behind him. He let out an annoyed sigh. He needed to get home, but if someone was still following him, he couldn't bring that. So...He went with an illogical plan.
"Get out. I know you're there." He said it aimlessly, not turning his body or moving his head to see any movement. "...I know you're out there somewhere. I can hear you." It took a couple of minutes. When Oki still hadn't heard a thing, he wondered if his head was okay. He couldn't have gotten a nasty concussion, could he? So fucking annoying. He put his head to his forehead, feeling for the warm liquid. It didn't feel too bad; he needed a bandage and wound cleaner. He turned his head toward a pair of glowing red eyes. Oh. So he was right. It seemed like, in the darkness, something had been staring at him. He froze, stopping where he was. He couldn't remember where they had come from, though. "...Hey. Get out here." Oki said as he held his hand up. "I can't see you. Plus, it would help if you left me alone." He said. The pair of eyes looked down and began walking toward him. Oki watched him walk out.
He felt arms wrap around his waist. Oki turned quickly, "What the--" He yelped, moving forward to get away from the hands. They didn't budge. Was it the robber again? Oki felt a pair of arms wrap around his neck, no doubt the assailant in front of him. Just as Oki was about to punch them off, they stopped holding on so tight. "...Uhm?"
What he thought would turn into a struggle had been entirely different from what he was expecting. The arms were hugging him. Oki looked up, finally able to see the face of the guy in front of him. The guy was handsome, with messy black hair that fell to his shoulders. His eyes were upturned and a deep red. He had warm dark skin and possibly the stupidest smile plastered all over his face.
Oki wondered if he should feel bad for what was to come...No. You don't hug someone without permission without getting hit. He raised his hand and smacked the guy on his shoulder, shocking the guy enough to let go. He took the chance to kick whoever was behind him. He stood with his arms crossed when they were both in front of him. "...Don't hug people without permission."
He got a good look at his second attacker. It was, in fact, NOT the robber form before, but a girl. She had short curly, pixie-style black hair. She had red eyes, exactly like the male. She had several silver piercings in both of her ears. Both of them had combat boots and seemed to have the same sense of style as Oki...What the hell was going on? It was apparent these two were twins, at least to him, it was. The girl rubbed her shoulder, where Oki had kicked her off, and pouted. "...Sorry." She mumbled. "But...We were so excited to meet you!" She quickly said.
"We're sorry for hugging you suddenly. But you looked so cool! Seriously, it was like straight from a play!" The male grabbed the girl's hand and pulled her up. Oki could feel himself get annoyed. They were both tall. "Okay...That still doesn't help much. Who are you?" He asked.
The guy smiled, "I'm Vernon. This is my twin sister Vanille. Oki, we're your guardians!" He announced. The twins' eyes seemed to sparkle in the light over them, watching Oki for his reaction.
Oki hummed a bit. He looked around the dark area, noticing many shady spots. He frowned, "...What are you, mental?" He asked quickly. "You guys just...watched me get beat up? Can you...come up with a better lie than that so I won't have to kick your asses." Vanille frowned and leaned over in front of him, "We're not lying! You couldn't see us!" She said quickly. Vernon stepped in, "Plus...It looked like you had that guy under control, Oki."
"Right, so you know my name. No offense, but that's freaky." He said bluntly. "I mean if you've been following me everywhere...I hit my head too hard back there." Vernon tilted his head. "Oh! Oki, your forehead." Oki's hand instinctively reached up, still feeling the wound. Vernon walked closer to him, bringing his hand up and placing it on Oki's wound. A slight black mist emitted from his hands. Oki watched, facial expression unchanging. But really, he was amazed. How could he be doing this?
When Vernon finished, he smiled, "There...How is it, Vanille, all better?" Vanille nodded, "Looks great!" Any pain on Oki's head was gone in an instant. "Woah...How did you do that?" He asked. Vernon smiled, "...Magic~" He cooed. "Do you believe us a little now?"
"Barely. Weirder shit has happened..." He trailed off a bit there. "...So you guys are...my guardians, huh?"
"Yup."
"Yes!"
"...I don't need protecting. You guys sure as hell didn't help back there." Oki said.
The twins pouted. "We thought you could handle it! We couldn't have done anything if you hadn't seen us either!" Vanille defended. Vanille made her way behind Oki. Oki watched her closely, switching back between Vernon and Vanille. "I guess that's true...How long have you guys been following me, anyway?" He asked. Vernon and Vanille began walking in a circle simultaneously, "...Don't wanna tell you." Vernon said quickly.
Vanille laughed, "Yeah! It'll ruin the illusion you've got going on!" Oki shook his head, "Please speak in a way I can understand--; why are you guys walking in a circle!" he suddenly shouted. But the twins didn't stop. Black ash rose from the ground as they went faster and faster around Oki. Oki looked down at his feet, seeing dust of ash and smoke, all whirlwind together like some horrible tornados. Was this a trap?! He snapped his head back at the twins, but they were gone. He heard laughing in the dust. "Vanille! Vernon!" He shouted as he put his arm near the ash. Four hands reached out when the tips of his fingers grazed the ash. They both grabbed the sleeve of Oki's shirt, pulling him in.
Oki's eyes widened, struggling ever so slightly when he was pulled into the black smokey abyss.
Oki can't express himself in the way he would like.
This always leads to fights and misunderstandings. It's been like this for as long as he could remember.
One night doesn't lead to misunderstandings or even fights. It opens a door for him.
