A large, 6 '0 man with the smell of a calm winter morning on him stands at the table, a notepad in his hand with a large wedding band on his hand with a lovely orange gem in it. His round face has slight stubble around his chin and blue staggering mini dreads that rest on his head and his sides go off into a fade. He looks at Agate and the group with stressful blue-ish silver eyes.
"Goodness, you guys. I can hear you over the bunch'a people in this place. And it's rush hour too." He said with a hearty sigh. He's been running all around this place going table to table for god knows how long.
Jade looked at the man who's wearing the retro uniform of this little diner. A white shirt with red vertical stripes. A white-ish, food-stained apron, black pants that look a bit on the bigger side, and a silly black bow tie.
"Sup Jackie boy," Jade said in a teasing tone, "how's the man?"
"Jade. First of all the name's Jack and you know this. Second of all, I'm here to take your order and to get y'all to calm the heck down. You're angering the oldies-" he hissed as he secretly points a thumb to the wrinkled old grannies in the corner of the diner. They're eating clearly overcooked food, Jack would never even in his life consider cooking such swill. Sadly these grannies complain if their food isn't overcooked mush. He glanced at them and pure pain shot through his body as he looked at the abomination of food they were eating. He quickly turned back to the group.
"Anyways- what do you want?"
Jade cuts him off. "You sadly didn't answer my question man. How's the mister?" She chuckled as Jack sighed and rolled his eyes. When suddenly a rough hand slaps right onto Jack's shoulder. A scruffy man pops his head from behind him.
"I'd say he's doing positively fine madam! Seeing that I'm not dead" He chuckled and came out from behind Jack, a lanky man who stands about 5'10. He has tired sharp eyes that stare right through you, always analyzing with a deep brown color. His frizzy orange mullet and scratchy beard make him look unkept or like he just rolled out of bed, the latter most likely seeing that he's still in blue plaid pajamas and cat slippers with the diner apron slapped on top of it, its somehow very clean despite the wearer's appearance. It's clear he cares more about his clothing than himself.
Jade grins and waves, "That's fantastic man. You look more dead than normal. What's up with that, though I most definitely know." She snickered as she started to mess with the table mats with the old 1990s menu on them.
He chuckled and pointed to her. "Damn right! You know me so well mini-me. I'm downright too tired for this place." He takes out something that looks like a cigarette and lights on up, it smells like weed. His hand has a lovely wedding band with blue gems in it. " Let's go back to bed Jack, I'm tired. I wanna watch a movie."
Jack grumbled and poked him. "Stone, or should I say at this point stoner," Jack says as he grabs the joint and puts it out on the table, it hadn't been lit long enough to fill the diner with its smell. "It's 5 pm. You've been napping the whole day away. Get back to the kitchen please, we got orders to fill."
Stone whines and turns to leave back to the kitchen. "You're so mean man. I come out to say hello and I'm lambasted by my own poor partner!" He said in a dramatic tone, some of the patrons looked at Stone and laughed.
"Of course you are man, you look homeless!" Chuckled out a customer who gave him a slight jab. "You have a diner to run, man!"
"Oh good heavens! How could you wound me so!" He whined in a playful manner. "I can't take this disrespect! In my own restaurant at that!"
Jack rolled his eyes and brought his attention back to the group, who were giggling the whole time. "Sorry about him, he's just a little wild when he's trying to wake up. But anyways, what would you guys like?"
Agate and the group order their food and drink, the diner filling up to the brim with people. It's quite loud as the voices drown out the music, Agate has long stopped tapping his foot. And they just focused on the three of them, chatting and having a good time. They were interrupted when their food finally got there, delivered by Stone.
"Hey hey hey party people. I got your food right on here in my hand." He chuckled as he passed it out. Once he finished that he leaned onto the table. "So, is the concert still on for tomorrow?"
Agate grinned and put a hand to his chest. "Of course it is, I wouldn't miss it for the world, seeing that I'm the lea-"
"Yeah yeah yeah the leader of the band. We all know this man, this isn't a contest" Stone chuckled as he leaned up and started to somewhat fix his frizzed-out hair.
The Jewel Watchers, that's the band the three of them run together. Named after the fact that, somehow, all three of them were named after stones. They run concerts in the town where many people come to support their blooming young talent. They make this sleepy country town wake up once a month or so. Agate's pride and joy has to be this band that he and his friends crafted with hard work and practice. Agate on guitar, Carnelian on drums, and Jade on either vocals or guitar.
Stone sighed and pulled a drink from his deep pajama pockets and sipped it. "It sucks this one's gonna be your last. You know-" He fostered his drink to Jade and Carnelian. "With them leaving and all."
Carnelian chuckled, "I mean, it sucks but it was good fun that helped us all really. But it's sadly time to move on you know? Move on to newer and brighter horizons."
Jade nodded, "Yeah. Not like we'd actually be able to like, make it as singers. A gals gotta eat man. And I eat a lot. Being a doc gonna help me with that for sure."
Agate slightly nodded. "Mmhmm. You don't have to worry about me man, yall guys just go on and do your own thing. I'll be perfectly fine."
Stone turned and gave him a look. "You good?"
"Yeah, I would like a to-go box for my stuff."
Stone nods and pulls one out of his apron pocket, nodded again then left back to the kitchen. Agate started to put his food in the box, not even questioning how deep his pockets had to be to hold this.
"Yo, what? I thought we were going to stay out all night! The hell you packed up for?" Jade said. She looked upset and confused.
"Was it something we said?" Carnelian whimpered out, not really wanting to cause a scene.
"No." He closed up his container, grabbed it then left out the diner. His friends silently watching him as he left the diner, not going after him as to not made a scene. The voices of customers ring in his ears, and the music of the diner is practically an assault on the ears.
He leaves the diner, the sharp cold air hits his face as the sky starts to darken. It's almost 6 pm. He takes a deep breath and nestles into his jacket, his breath forming in the air in a soft vapor. He starts his walk home, his warm food in the container er in his hands acts as a nice cozy feeling in the cold of the afternoon. He looks to his right and see's where they were sitting. He sees them talking with Stone, a stressed look plastered onto their faces. Stone looks like he's reprimanding them, maybe even explaining something but his face looks too stern to be doing that. They all look upset for the most part, at least Stone looks like he actually cleaned up since he gave him the box, less scruffy than normal.
He sighed, took out his phone, and texted his parents. "On my way home. Be there sooner or later"
