“Well, whatever, it doesn’t matter now. You know what the conditions are. Do you accept and come with us or will this girl drown in her own blood?” Azmiel asked happily shaking from left to right enjoying the situation completely.
‘Miracle what should I do?’
‘Hm? You’re asking me? Well, if I were in your place I wouldn’t care about the girl and look for my own safety. She doesn’t mean anything to me. But you are different. Whatever choice you make… I have already decided to support you.’
Alex contemplated for a while as his glance fell upon Nina. She was still sobbing but as soon as they made eye contact, she shook her head trying to signal him to not do it.
Alex knew that in the face of true adversity, one’s true color comes out. Out of all the people he knew, he always felt Nina to have a somewhat cold attitude, at least to outsiders or people whom she had no interest with. In the case of Blake, her reason for being nice to him was that she somehow understood him. But Alex was a different case, they haven’t even known each other for even half a year and yet she doesn’t want himself to be put in danger while not even understanding the situation. If it was the other way around, he knew he wouldn’t be so selfless. It told a lot about her.
After this how could Alex just sit back and watch. Fear gripped his heart, but the teachings of his father of being righteous and a good friend was important to him in this moment than any other!
“Fine! We have a deal.” Alex announced.
Azmiel’s grin turned wider. Things were going exactly as he had planned.
“Blake.” He called out. At this Blake tossed the blade to Azmiel while Blake removed a pair of cuffs and approached Alex. He then cuffed Alex’s left and his right. The latter blinked in confusion at his actions.
Blake, “So, that you don’t run away.”
Azmiel then kicked some chairs and table away before removing a small bluish and black colored cube and threw it in the open space created. The next moment a dimensional gate opened up.
“What’s this?” Alex asked curious.
“It’s the gate to the other world, Emerald.” Blake explained.
“I see… then, release her now.” Alex said to Azmiel.
Azmiel glanced back and forth between the girl and Alex before nodding. “I will but you’ll have to enter it first, I’ll follow you two, close behind, so don’t worry.”
Alex’s expression changed.
‘Miracle he’s…’
‘Yeah, he’s lying, he doesn’t have any intention of releasing her. This must be his plot from the very beginning. My best guess is that he’s going to kill her and leave no evidence behind. He’s one twisted insect.’
Hearing this Alex couldn’t help but boil with anger. But before he could do anything Blake was the one to speak out.
“What’s the meaning of this Azmiel? I thought I told you to release her as soon as this human agrees.”
“Huh? Did you? I don’t really remember? Don’t waste your time here partner, go on, I’ll be—
Azmiel’s words stopped in their tracks as he and Alex sensed a large rise in mana. It was coming from Blake. Anybody could tell that he was mad.
“RELEASE HER NOW!” Blake threatened as mana began to gather around his arm.
“Oh… and what if I don’t? You do know that you can’t attack a fellow member, you of course know the penalty for it. Not to mention, don’t you remember that I know about your lifeline? If you misbehave, I’ll personally go and p- kh!!”
Before Azmiel could finish his sentence, his face got blown by a mana ball thrown by Blake causing him to fall back on the floor.
“Why you? Now she’s dead for sure!” Azmiel roared as he stretched his hands towards Nina and balled it into a fist causing the chains to bind tighter and tighter. Before the chains could crush her under their pressure Alex quickly launched black mana slashes and sliced the chains off coming from Azmiel’s hand.
Nina immediately collapsed to the ground gasping for much needed air. Blake in his fury charged forward and pounced on Azmiel pulling Alex along with him due to the cuffs. He released a flurry of punches on his face before Azmiel kicked the two boys away. But Blake was quick to act as a large mana fist formed around his left-hand grabbing Azmiel by his legs.
“You- What are you…!” Before Azmiel could ask he was thrown into the dimensional gate by Blake. Alex stared in the gate as Azmiel’s scream slowly disappeared.
“Welp, I suppose that takes care—
Before he could finish, he heard the sound of chains rustling together. And so did Blake.
“Alex your feet!” Nina warned but alas it was rather late as the two of them were also pulled into the dimensional gate by the chains which Azmiel had tied around their legs sneakily.
Alex and Blake shrieked in surprise until no longer their screams could be heard. The next moment the dimensional gate suddenly disappeared. As for the cube which had created it, quickly burnt away into ashes.
The library was once again dead silent. Nina then realized something and rushed over to fallen bookshelves to find Rose. Just as Nina found her, Rose had started regaining consciousness.
“Shit… ah… I was too careless.” Rose said to herself as she rubbed the bruises on her arm.
“Rose! Rose!”
She looked up hearing her name being called out and before she could speak a word, she got embraced in a hug. Nina began sobbing, feeling relieved that she was alright. Even though as the Council’s agent Rose had just now failed an important mission after which she should be pissed, she rather enjoyed and found peace in the warm embrace.
But Nina’s sobbing quickly turned into a shriek startling her. Followingly Nina began to pull Rose away with her. Rose quickly understood looking at the bird faced man who had just entered the library through a window.
“Captain…” The eagle faced man scratched the back of his head wondering what he did wrong while Rose tried to calm the frantic Nina.
