Dec 27, 2022

Hey. I'm sorry for the lack of updates. I have a lot of trouble keeping on track, but it's been done for a while. here it is!
~~~
[Harrison]
I go to bed later that night, just after everyone else. Even Rufus was asleep. I go to the guest bedroom to see Devon sleeping on one side of the bed. I just change into something more comfortable to sleep in and lay down on the other side, going to sleep almost instantly.
I wake up in the morning and get dressed in a grey tank top with a colourful design on it, and jeans, putting a plain-coloured button-up shirt over it. I go to the main room where I see that Rhys has made breakfast.
“Morning,” Rhys says, “Help yourself to something for breakfast.”
I get myself some breakfast and sit down with it. Heath, to no surprise, comes out not too long after. He does the same as I did, and so does Devon. After everyone is done eating, Rhys sits on the couch with us while the robots feed Rufus.
“Okay, so... the game plan for today is to go to that press conference. I’ll drive us up there early so we can talk to Colonel Dayton.”
“Sounds fine to me if Heath and I don’t show up on any screens,” I say. “I think Rhys should stay with Dev, Rufus, and the bots just in case we get caught. Rufus would stay safe that way.”
“Alright then. I’ll pack a bag of stuff to take with me.” Rhys says, standing up.
We leave thirty minutes later and get into the car. Rhys drives us up to the conference (which was not easy to get to) and parks nearby. We get out and walk up to the area, where the President and the Colonel are both heavily guarded.
The whole conference is outside in front of the White House.  The backside of the stage is covered by a backdrop, hiding everything behind them.
A chill runs down my spine when I see the guard’s massive guns. “Okay... this Is easy... we just have to walk over to the colonel and tell him that our nutcase dad is trying to kill a two-day-old that I basically kidnapped. Heck, he shouldn’t even be out here right now. He’s two days old. He should be resting.”
“Har, calm down. I’ll do the talking.” Heath says.
I follow him over to where the President and Colonel are standing. The guards watched us closely, but
“Ah, if it isn't the Frost Twins. Nice to see you again, Heath.” The president says.
“Nice to see you too, sir,” Heath responds. “I was wondering if we could talk to Colonel Dayton about an... issue we’re having.”
“What kind of issue?” the Colonel asks.
“With our Captain. He’s not following regulations, and it’s putting an innocent child in danger. It’s... better if we explain the whole story.”
“Well, come on up here so we can talk.” The colonel says.
“We’d rather talk in private. We don’t want to show up on live TV.”
“That’s alright. We can talk behind the stage. Come on,” he says.
He walks to the side of the stage, goes down the stairs, and then behind the stage.
Heath and I explain the situation to him. How he killed that innocent zombie, how I saved the child, and that we came here to get away.
“Definitely sounds like he’s going against regulations. You’d need proof that he’s mentally compromised, though.” the Colonel says. “I don’t know if I can legally help you since you’re a fugitive for kidnapping a minor. In all honesty, that’s up to the president. Your captain may answer to me, but I answer to the President.”
That’s when the president wanders over, a single guard standing at the corner.
“I heard the whole thing. I say help him. And as for that cure, if you can get a lead on it, I might just help you. We have to keep this whole thing top secret though.”
“How do we take care of Captain Frost, sir?”
“That is up to you, Colonel. Just do whatever you need to do to arrest him.” the president says.
He walks away, leaving us alone.
“We’ll arrange a plan later, okay? For now, just stay away from the cameras so you don’t prematurely draw him out.”
“Alright. Let’s go, Har.”
We go back to the front and hide in the back of the now large crowd of reporters and other people with Devon, Rhys, and Rufus. After a while, the conference starts.
The president stands at the podium and takes a deep breath and starts speaking, “Over the past hundred years, we’ve experienced several issues, one of those issues being discrimination against the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as other issues with rights and justice for women. The United States may not perfect place, but I will try my best to make it damn close to it. Starting at 12:00 pm today, there will be two new acts passed to protect these communities.. The LGBTQIA+ Protection Act will protect the rights of members of the community. Any discrimination laws against members of this community, such as transgender, gay, or any other will be unconstitutional. Any laws that are currently active will be shut down instantly in all states. In addition, the Justice Act...”
To be honest, I stopped listening. All I know is that the Justice act increases the penalty on things that aren’t getting treated like huge issues when they ultimately are, which is a good thing because it shows that President Hilton is trying to make changes for the better.
He continued talking about a couple of other things until it was the Colonel’s turn to speak, “Hello, everyone. If you don’t know who I am, my name is Colonel Joyce Dayton. In addition to the LGBTQIA+ Protection Act and the Justice Act, the NZCA is going to start a cleanup program that will take all zombies off the streets and out of all containment facilities starting as soon as possible and move them to bigger facilities where they will be taken care of. This is a part of something that President Hilton and I are working on together and will be announced in the future. This action is to prevent the deaths of innocent zombies, as well as prevent crimes committed against them. They were once human, and they deserve to be treated as such. That will be all.”
The two answered questions for a little longer before they had to stop and leave. “So, what’d they say?” Rhys asks as the crowd disbands.
“Well, the President and the Colonel will help us out of we can find a lead on a cure. Hilton said it himself.” I explain
“Awesome. “How close are you to one?” Rhys asks.
“Well, the book is based on a set of journals that the mages back then wrote. Some of the info wasn’t legible, so there are holes in the story. I bet if we find those journals, we can fill in the holes.”  I reply.
“How many are there?” he asks.
“The book is based on five of many journals written by the wizards who were murdering the Incapables. It’s disgusting to think about. Thousands of people being murdered just because they were born unable to do something...” I mutter.
“That's in the past, Harry. Let's focus on the future. We need to go to the apartment and locate the journals. I’ll contact a few people for information.” Rhys says.
We all go back to the car, and Rhys takes us all back to the apartment.
