Jasmine
XVII
Something within me calls for me to yell for Cairo to come back; to apologize, but I don’t. I regret pressuring him... a lot. I’ll apologize when he comes back.
I mean, he can’t be that mad, right? He’s the same sweet, annoying Ro that I’ve known for... a day now.
How is it that I’ve only known him for a day, but I already care for him so much, to the point that I actually want to apologize?
That’s... out of character for me.
Maybe I should follow him...
I get up, and start heading towards the door. But before I could even make it halfway there, Cairo bursts through, clutching a piece of paper, and yells my name.
“Jasmine!” I look at him with confusion.
“We have to go. NOW.”
What the hell is going on?!
Cairo

Jasmine stares at me with a look of shock.
“I can’t explain.” I run up to her, and grab her hand. “We just have to go. NOW.”
“Okay?” She says nervously, as I practically drag her out of the diner.
“Hey!” We both turn around as we hear a voice behind us. “You didn’t pay your check!”
Oh thank god it was just the waitress. Jasmine rolls her eyes, and looks at me, still looking for answers as to why we’re running. Then, her eyes land on the flyer, and widen in shock. She reads the words:
Wanted Dead or Alive!
Cairo Siere and Jasmine Arealis
20,000 Gold Reward
Jasmine takes the lead, and grabs my hand, beginning to drag me forward.
“But, we didn’t pay? Jas we have-”
She rips the flyer out of my hand. “When you saw this on a tree? Paying is the last of our problems right now.”
She’s right.
We both make a move to sprint out of the diner.
That is, until I feel a hand wrap around my mouth, and see one wrap around hers.
